ORIGINAL: Pascal Well, this isn't a trainer. It's a captured Nakajima G8N that was repainted for testing purposes. Weren't all captured aircraft repainted at least with large Allied markings and often bright colors (not always, though, as I have a Zero with no paint) so they wouldn't be mistaken for an actual enemy aircraft? Right, should have recognized it as a Rita. So bright yellow isn't only for trainers, but the XP aircraft as well. IIRC, the Bell X-1 was bright orange in color when it was test flown. ya know, depending on the lighting and how the film developed, that Rita could be orange, and not yellow. Hard to tell with older color photos sometimes.
