ORIGINAL: freeboy Larry, you are CRUsHING the ai.. I'm thinking maybe I might just pull this one off. I'm trying to balance letting the Axis dull their swords ( the strength of the Axis army is probably decreasing maybe as they loose more and more people ) as I snap my fingers and summon up even more troops for the reserve army. Elmer wasn't quite fast enough in turning loose the Armour and didn't create pockets every turn and stuff like that..... stuff a human would do. So yeah, it's a fun game so far. I'm trying to back up JUSSSST fast enough to save the semblence of a front line with letting the Axis hurt itself. I'm pumping in about 250K troops every week and he's killing about ....... well, less than that So my Army is getting bigger faster than I'm loosing troops. My army is getting stronger while his gets weaker. I wish this deliberate putting troops in harm's way with all the increased losses it entails is worth it in the long run. My problem as General is to make the Axis loose troops faster than he can replace them, long enough for it to make a difference, so that I can go on the offensive.....like in November or so. After all the mud turns. quote:
ORIGINAL: freeboy .... might want to stop moving industry from cities that are not thatened? I'm feeling like I have all the time in the world sometimes. Somebody pinch me and make me wake up. I really, really need to zoom out to see all the map before I just willy nilly rail something at random. I think you're correct and adjustments are being made. quote:
ORIGINAL: freeboy great read.. very helpful as I learn the ropes for red army use.. Um......you might more profitably spend your time reading the AAR of a real live Soviet expert. I'm just a bozo who tends to post his every thought. While playing a fun game. I'm leaving a lot out to make it kind of 'move along' but I'm hoping the animated maps will tell the tale pretty good. The stats need some reading between the lines when you don't know the specific action that caused what loss. I like playing the AI just to 'watch the movie' as the AI goes through it's moves. I've started calling him Elmer after the AI in TOAW that is pretty good but not, I think, quite this good. It does make pockets sometimes, I've seen some in this game, but after the first six or seven turns there were no more major pockets. He likes to advance units past the flanks of Soviet units when gaps appear in the front line. Like water flowing, taking the path of least resistance. The quickest path. It's ruthless. Sometimes thoughtless, if you know what I mean. I've seen HQ units on the front line within range of Soviet units who might decide to sacrifice itself by moving into the maw of the beast just to make an Axis HQ 'rout'. quote:
ORIGINAL: freeboy thanks Better thanks might be to post an AAR of your own. Do you have one already? I forget who has posted and who has not. And I find that before I do something that somebody is going to read about I tend to think about it more than if I was just 'beer-and-pretzel-ing-it' with little reguard to the little things that make the process hum. You DO know why the process hummms, right? It's because the process doesn't know the words. Just a little moment of Zen for you.
