Did not know if anybody would want this?

notes-

1) Beam weapons excluding phasers given a bolt like effect. (comit appearence.)
2) Area weapons given a wave like appearance. (ocean ripple like effect)
3) Ion weapons given a static like effect. (added monochromatic noise to ion png)
4) Railguns given a bullet motion like effect. (motion trail behind railgun png)
5) torpedo weapons given a plasma ball like effect. (original torp png spirled and enlarged.)
6) Missles have a plasma torch exhaust effect.
7) Wave weapon added color depth and motion like effect.

WinRar extract to:
C:\Matrix Games\Distant Worlds\images\effects\weapons\weapons

The Copy (exp. torpedo_2 - Copy.png) is the original stock game png. If you don't like the new png - torpedo_2.png For exp, delete it, and rename torpedo_2 - Copy.png to torpedo_2.png. And your back to the original stock game png.

I think it depicts motion blur quite nicely. Nothing to do with disruption of air as far as I can tell.

After playing with this mod quite a bit I must say that this is definitely the best weapon graphics mod to come out in a while!

Revised, Blured\blended some of the images a bit, some of the images were standing out too much agianst the background. Also removed some stray arty farts, ie stray artifacts.

I attempted to see if more colors added would look like, but with such a small resolution, it tended to blend in too much or even distort the coloring somewhat. And i prefer the anagram kiss, ie keep it simple stupid.

The one who needs complitmented is Erik for the increased resolution added via the legends add on, and the guy who made all those cool ships. My photoshop skills consist of glowing balls of fart gas vrs a mint condition "Venator". My compliments to them and thier work.

You can think Woodman for the new ship art, it is gorgeous, but I do have to say that the old weapon effects look silly compared to the new ship art. So thanks to you are still in order! [:)]

The torpedo weapons are hard coded to 25*25 resolution or less. So i adopted that as a weapon scaling size. feed back\criticism is always welcome.

The zip file extracted fine for me earlier, though I've yet to try it out in-game.

Just re-downloaded and it's OK.

Nice work again, msevil. Though I'm not keen on the beam_04 (the stretched one). It's been tried in the past, but never really looks right in-game.

the beam 4 for the super laser, I havn't had a chance to test yet. I usually recalled it only being used to blow up planets. (which never misses.) But I forgot it can also target other targets as well like ships.

Yah, a 700 length beam really missing its target would look crappy. Wasn't able to test it this week. Never had the super laser in action in my games, need to uncheck winning conditions to possibly see it in action. I can easily remake a new one. I can't make the superlaser from star wars. The laser beams connecting to make a superlaser, would be shot @ the target as well. ie a giant multi-prong arrow in space. (Still would be funny seeing the death star keep missing the planet with the superlaser. :))

the zip was made using 7z. It was tested using winzip and opened without problems.

How about the hand of God?

Winzip will read it as corrupted (ie doesn't support zip files published by other party's.), zipped with above program. Is free, unlike winzip. Like Gimp vrs photoshop, etc.

Changed beam 4 to look like a planet killer like beam weapon, ie TOS

fantastic stuff, man. Made a difference that I truly appreciate. Does anyone experience any FPS changes with the mod in some heavy battles? any at all?

Blueberry, out of curiosity what is you system memory? Amt of core processors, speed. Are you able to use the stock game without problems?

If you have less then 4mb's of system memory, this game will slow down with larger maps\larger battles for exp. (Or if your like me, 8 mb's works great until your virus detector starts. And then the memory beast makes distant worlds become a slide show.)

If I were you, I would see what weapons are being used that slow down your computer. I guessing the area effects are the main cause? If so replace them with the stock images simply by renaming them exp area_0 - Copy.png to area_0.png, etc (after deleting\renaming the mod weapon png)
