"Things have their root and their branches. Affairs have their end and their beginning. To know what is first and what is last will lead near to what is taught in the Great Learning.
[...]
When a country is well governed, poverty and a mean condition are things to be ashamed of. When a country is ill governed, riches and honor are things to be ashamed of. "

The Chinese people knew greatness and order and sank to the deepest holes of tyranny.
They liberated people and enslaved others all the while being liberated and enslaved themselves.
They honored nature, tradition and they honored family... they killed it all.

Though troubled in history the Chinese people always strifed for the cultural birth place, following the greater harmony of the mass state they always have and always will represent. Are you fit to lead the turmoiled Chinese people, struggling between freedom and the greater order of all things? Will this sense of order lead to another tyranny or a world full of happy people thriving in their purpose?

Oh, I like. China has always fascinated the crap out of me, and I like your depiction of space china!

I am pretty sure you missed the Italians on the previous page...

Nay, I saw them. They're well-done as well! Italy is one of my favorite nations to play in the Hearts of Iron series, since they're just small enough to be challenging, but still strong enough to take some stuff from the weak (and not-so-weak).

Read the last victory condition? Has NOTHING to do with that fact of course...

Hah! How'd I miss that? That's brilliant. I love it.

Will you have "Recommended" settings for this mod, as far as Galaxy Size, Empire Distribution, ect.? Clearly you're doing a lot of hard work creating an intricate mesh of victory conditions. Before I ever played it, I would want to know what settings you intended it to be played on.

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 1:01:27 AM)

The thing about great term simulation is, that the bigger the world, the more likely the outcome will be different... or as goodwins good law tells us. If you start a big game often enough, the nazis will lose at least once.

I did not intend to force a way of gameplay on people. I only propose putting pirates on less and average distance and further deactivate space creatures. The rest should be chosen as liked. Just for the "United Colonies" sake... start with more than 1 colony each...

Gelatinous Cube -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 1:03:38 AM)

Yeah.. I was thinking I'd do all the races manually, if I was to ever make an AAR out of it. I think it would work out amazingly well on a large map, if you pre-made all the enemy empires instead of randomly generating them.

Either way, I just can't say it enough. This is awesome. [sm=tank2-39.gif]

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 1:05:55 AM)

Well I offer you one thing in favor of your enthusiasm:

Decide one nation and I tell you their race events and periodic changes.

Never! I shall be pleasantly surprised. Keep up the good work!

"Yes we call it a commonwealth. Call it empire if you want, but in space there should be enough room for at least one more empire... Britain or not.
We cannot change our past. We can not change the fact that people act in a certain way. We can not change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.”

Join the republic monarchy of Great Britain and it's freely associated Pangalactic Commonwealth of Stars in their effort to reconnect their glorious past with a beautiful future in the majestys name.
Though Britain was one of the first nations to leave the unity of the United Earth Federeal Republic, they always remained a loyal partner and steered their own ambitious from the ancient home London itself. Through the turmoils of the rising empires and the fall of culture after the first galactic war it can be said, that Britain in it's nationalistic autonomy always valued it's partners and treaties as much as their honor of military traditions, followed by its commonwealth members. All those finding it's climax on the great shore cities on ocean planets and the lost home colony of King's Rest itself.
They were the only known empire to survive the onslaught of the first galactic war in it's essential state, though losing their ancestral home of England and many colonies, including their prestige colony of King's Rest.

Of course!

2guncohen -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 7:56:06 AM)

I want a North Korean faction [:D]

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 8:20:55 AM)

North Korea died with Kim Jon Ill last Saturday and is not part of the GW II setting.

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 10:04:22 AM)

“Much as we may wish to make a new beginning, some part of us resists doing so as though we were making the first step toward disaster. There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth...not going all the way, and not starting.”

The Republique des Etoiles is the only nation left to claim any rule over old colonies or the old Earth Republic as a whole, being the leftover child of the same. Though the current republic is focused on the french roots of both it's founding fathers France and Germany from 843 a.D., it is also a multi culture epitome of wisdom and tolerance. Setting the milestone to the Sovereign Republic of Europe, the core nation is still composed of many German, French or even Spanish people, allied in the social capitalism that made Europe strong.
Indulged and reluctant at once, they try to uncover the true story behind the first galactic war and to reunite the stars, all the while fighting old demons of their past...

While the official language has reverted back to some kind of rough French, the secondary language is still European, a mixture of English, French and German, still seen in the name of the army and home planet, the Armee de Terthe.

Will you reunite the stars and the old earth through peace and mutual will, or lay waste in the name of the old republic?

Gelatinous Cube -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 10:24:55 AM)

I continue to be impressed by your dedication to this cause! Keep it up. [&o]

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 10:32:24 AM)

I am actually thinking of stopping here to catch up with policy and ship names to offer an alpha. Just creating new races with main preferences is not enough to play it.

Gelatinous Cube -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 10:34:46 AM)

No rush, my friend. Take your time, and perfect it. It seems more than worthy of patience so far. [sm=character0231.gif]

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 10:35:58 AM)

Does not change the fact, that an early alpha of version 0.1 is staged for all the loyal followers on Dec 23.

You are officially my hero nedrear. Even though i;m drunk, you are my hero! Keeo up the hard wokr!

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 1:16:06 PM)

Depending on my "urge" to give you the Polish and Hungary for the Alpha, I could put them out Dec 20. Though these two would have a clear disadvantage... even Italia can crush them with small effort.

If I take time to christmas I might be able to redefine the dialog options instead, making it more immersive.

Grisha -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 4:04:46 PM)

Interesting idea. You could sort of make this a steampunk progression, using the idea that the Dark Ages never occurred. That would give you 1,000 years of extra development in technology. So, 1941 in that universe would be our 2941. Close enough.

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 4:15:23 PM)

No I won't. This would offset all political inclinations and further would change a lot of events in the history. Furthermore it builds on the fact, that it got the history.

I got a sample of the dialogue of the Vierte Reich ingame. The dialogue file of them will be a seperate download as it contains strong language... to say the least. All those with an ethnic background or other reason to despise it, don't read it or download it!
This file is part of creative freedom and belongs solely to a roleplay mod. It's just part of the game and in no way shows my personel political judegements.

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 10:02:21 PM)

I'll let the PC run an all out game with all nations on a small state (3-6 colonies start) to see what the nations are made off. It is only a tst though... it's luck after all if their traits pay of.

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/19/2011 11:20:57 PM)

I let it run on 4x... and let us just say the nationalistic Germans and their old brethen good a little... misunderstanding in culture. After seeing the France taking on the old goverment of earth, declaring themselves the rightful heirs (Way of Ancients), they smashed them into obedience... so much for way of ancients against a German military dictatorship.

NOTE: The Pangalactic Commonwealth got a starting bonus of mature instead of expanding. The nazis are considerably closing in on them, all the while executing europeans of the star republic... They fill the new "Lebensraum" themselves...

Tophat1815 -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/20/2011 12:12:47 AM)

So the space nazi's are off to good ole nation bashing start? Screens?

Nedrear -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/20/2011 12:17:12 AM)

I did not bother to take sceens of the capital fleets of the nazis smashing poor frigate and cruiser fleets of the starrepublic in 2:1 favor even though they got cap ships... that would be cruel.

I send out two Alpha invitations. I still will give out 5 more. If you want that, smash them yourself.

2guncohen -> RE: [WIP] Galactic War II (12/20/2011 11:17:48 AM)

I realy like how this mod is evolving.
What are you going to do with the pirates Nedrear ?

Rogue states or rebel groups ?

If I made it sound like a demand, Nedrear, you have my apologies. It was merely an idea. Best of luck on your mod.

Rogue states or rebel groups ?

Both. In your RP you can chose it. If Nazis attack the Nazis, take it as a rebellion against a Führer he deems inferior or something. In case of United Colonies they wil lsimply be para military or pirates... they are capitalists anyway.
