Warhorse -> Korean War Mod (12/22/2011 11:56:31 PM)

Hello all,

I made this Mod originally about 10 years ago as a tribute to ALL the nations involved in the Conflict, the latest version is 2.02.

I've updated this link to my OneDrive. You unzip this into your Matrix Games John Tillers Campaign Series structure, so that you end up with C:\Matrix Games\John Tillers Campaign Series\Korean War 2.02. Once installed, use the Korean War.exe to play!

Here are a list of the folks kind enough over the years to lend a hand, without there help this wouldn't have been possible-

DukeUgrad1976 -> Korean War Mod (12/23/2011 1:15:58 AM)

A big thank you, Mike for all your time and effort - the Korean War deserves more attention in the wargaming community by players that demand more products from developers - so what you have done is very much appreciated - hoping to utilize your mod file over this weekend - the Korean Conflict deserves more recognition  rather than being treated as the "Forgotten War"

DukeUgrad1976 -> Korean War Mod - download attempted but failed (12/23/2011 1:22:00 AM)

Got error message "Download parameters invalid - please try again later" after clicking Green download button in middle of webpage for RapidShare website - not sure what to do now.

junk2drive -> RE: Korean War Mod - download attempted but failed (12/23/2011 1:28:04 AM)

Seems to be working for me.

Thanks Mike. I was always looking forward to this with some scenarios or campaigns to play. Maybe someone with the talent will come forward.

Hello, had one other fellow had a problem, are you either sharing a connection with same IP with someone else, OR maybe which browser are you using? Hope we can resolve this! Also, make sure you have javascript enabled, and also cookies. Firefox is known to be a problem, and some download managers.

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - download attempted but failed (12/23/2011 1:52:36 AM)

You're welcome, I hope I can figure out why some folks can't download it, seems to be a problem that afflicts some folks. I don't have any other way of sharing it, unfortunately... I think years ago I did some sharing with ICQ or something, but this file is large.

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - download attempted but failed (12/23/2011 2:08:18 AM)

Yeah me too, XP Pro, and switched to Google Chrome a while ago, seems to be less fussy with alot of things, quit using IE, Firefox, etc. Thanks for the feedback. Ugrad, any luck? I show 2 DL's, was just wondering if you got it or not.

DukeUgrad1976 -> Korean War Mod - download SUCCEEDED ! (12/23/2011 3:22:02 AM)

My fellow wargamers - I was able to use Mozilla Firefox to download Korean War mod so kindly made available by Mike Amos - I had to disable some Firefox add-ons including Ad Blocker Plus - this allowed a separate window on the RapidShare website to appear that allowed me to register myself on the site - once registered I was able to complete the download ! Hope this will help all of you having problems with downloads even if you are using other browsers. Merry Christmas to All ! Happy Holidays as well !

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - download SUCCEEDED ! (12/23/2011 10:25:39 AM)

Awesome!!! Thanks for the input too, this might help others for sure, I'm no techie, so was running out of ideas!! Enjoy!!

DukeUgrad1976 -> Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (12/23/2011 5:29:06 PM)

Query to Mike Amos and/or others interested in Korean War Mod - I placed successfully download folder (unzipped of course) in the JTCS file directory by placing it under folder "Rising Sun" located under the main folder "User Mods". When I attempt to use "Edit Scenario" I get a regedit error message which is a special Windows(DOS)file for editing. Is there a simple way to just locate the Korean War folder with all the necessary files (including scenarios created so kindly by Mike) in another JTCS folder so Rising Sun program can access it ? I've never tried using a User Mod scenario or campaign before so pardon my ignorance. Thanks & Merry Christmas to all !

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (12/23/2011 7:31:20 PM)

Hi, Best thing to do is put it like say, C:\Matrix Games\John Tillers Campaign Series\Korean War. Just to make sure, you are editing scenario with the RSedit in the Korean War Mod folder, correct? This is it's own game, so all exe's are included. Let me know how it goes, k?

Thanks again for your interest!

Mike

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (12/26/2011 9:33:33 PM)

Just realized this mod is done in version 2, sooooo, for those so inclined (ahem), I'm updating the files to 1.04 standard, please don't shoot me....!![:D][X(]

junk2drive -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (12/30/2011 1:31:13 AM)

Been reading here and at the blitz. Sounds like I should wait for the 1.04 version but at the blitz it sounds like 1.04 version won't have everything in it.

Also are the scenarios being talked about(here and there)for H2H or solo?

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (12/30/2011 2:26:10 AM)

Hey Junk, you can go ahead and get the current version, just adding some units, not all of them. It's taking me a bit longer than expected, since some require icons also, hate wrong icons....!!

I believe the scenario's were mostly made for solo, not sure what to do with head to head. What do you recommend, I don't PBEM much...??

Mike

junk2drive -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (12/30/2011 2:33:05 AM)

Thanks. I have the first version that you posted. Waiting for the weekend to install JTCS on this new computer.

I don't PBEM at all. I just wondered if the guys at the blitz that are talking about making scenarios, would be making them for ladder play at the blitz, or if they could be ok for solo.

Meanwhile I will assume that the included scenarios are for solo.

junk2drive -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (12/31/2011 4:13:09 PM)

Since you know so much about the graphics, is CS an 8 bit program? I seem to remember some discussion of that.

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (1/2/2012 12:59:22 AM)

I'm quite sure you can use 32 bit graphics for the icons, but it doesn't like them for some other things, and really doesn't like it for menu screens!![:D] I make all the icons 256 after editing them in 32, just for compatibility.

Mike

junk2drive -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (1/2/2012 1:12:57 AM)

When people like osiris complain about the graphics, I think a move to 16 or 32 bit would help a lot.

Meanwhile, I had no problem extracting the folder from the zip into my JTCS folder and starting the game from the rising sun exe. Right click and Send To... Desktop shortcut. Good to go. Now then, remembering how to play is another thing...

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (1/2/2012 11:41:16 PM)

Good to hear it!! I'm sure it will come back to you! If interested, over at the Blitz scenarios are being made, and PBEM, if interested. I don't much, just no time, played Mike West, it was cool, just not enough time with modding to get the turn back as fast as I would like sometimes!!

Mike

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (2/26/2012 9:51:47 PM)

I posted an All-in-one update for my Korean War Mod over at the Blitz, up in the Mods hosted area!!

eddie01 -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (3/25/2012 8:59:51 PM)

Would be nice to see the updates for this mod posted here. Can't get logged in at the Blitz, no response from them on a new password either. Who runs that site anyway? Already contacted them about it, still no repsonse.[>:]

MrRoadrunner -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (3/25/2012 10:18:50 PM)

What's your handle at The Blitz Scott?
I can get a message to the moderators.
BTW, nine times out of ten if you do not get an auto e-mail with your password, or the one that is sent to you, it is because you did not update the site with your latest e-mail address.

eddie01 -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (3/25/2012 11:05:20 PM)

Have given them my emaill addy already when I request a new password. Not trying to come down hard on them, but have run into sites with the same problem. Can't login and can't get any response. Gets pretty frustrating. Handle is the same one I use here. Appreciate your help too!

eddie01 -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (3/26/2012 4:40:55 AM)

Gets worse instead of getting better. Got help in getting a new password. Go to the Blitz, get logged in, go to the forum to get the updates , and as I select the file to dl it, I get the message I have to login first,lol Go back and forth repeating this a couple of times, then said the heck with it. Its not worth the hassle to dl a couple of files.

MrRoadrunner -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (3/26/2012 10:45:10 AM)

Scott, you do know that the club has one loggin and the forum another?
I agree it gets frustrating.
I think I had to also register with Rapidshare to get the files too!

I guess it's all process and persistence, coupled with a level of interest?

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (3/28/2012 12:49:25 AM)

Hey guys, sorry I don't get over here much, since it is all but dried up, the Blitz doesn't have much going on any more either. There are still guys playing there, I have 10 games going, but not much chatter, which I really miss!! I would like to post updates here, but am unable to post zip files, you need to change the .zip to .txt or something, and is too much hassle. I'm too poor to have a website, have the main file on Rapidshare, and the Blitz was kind enough to have a hosted area for me, it is a bummer some can't get to that because of being evicted and such. What would you recommend?

Mike

junk2drive -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (3/28/2012 1:37:45 AM)

There is a free online storage called Dropbox. You get up to 2 gigs free. You have a Public folder that you can upload files to, and then post a link for people to download from. That is what some of us use for large PBEM files and mods. Works with PC, Mac and linux.

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (7/28/2013 5:07:44 PM)

Hey all, First post here has the link for Version 2.0, which I forgot to post here!! Am working on a new update, with new exe's, fully compatible with the scenario's.

Warhorse -> RE: Korean War Mod - folder location issue ? (7/28/2013 10:21:43 PM)

How does everyone feel about leaders at the company level, Captains? Put them in the company oob's, or leave them to everyone else to put in? I put leaders in all the higher-echelon formations.
