doomtrader -> Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 11:14:24 AM)

Hi guys

we are running an open beta for v1.01. All you will need to do is download the beta installer and use your final release serial for v1.00.

The beta version defaults to installing to a new folder. Please leave the default setting. It should not overwrite your current version. It is a complete stand alone build. This means you can have your current 1.00 version and also the 1.01 Beta. It will create a new desktop shortcut for the game. The beta version uses the test PBEM server so when you run the beta version you'll see a different set of games to the live 1.00 version. This is because the versions are not compatible and you cannot play v1.00 vs 1.01.

*** NEW BETA COMING SOON _ PLEASE WAIT ***

Please post your feedback.

How about a beta PATCH so we don't have to bother with two versions???

wolf14455 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 12:03:18 PM)

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 5:00:17 PM)

thank you !!!]
Glad this is today and not Monday
and THANKS for a fun game that is supported

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 5:31:58 PM)

ok, instalelr fails with
not valid serial number... you may want to check this!

Kitakami -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 5:32:14 PM)

Beta comment 1: I have had 2 CTDs. The first one for no apparent reason. The second one, when I tried to save over an existing ver 1.00 saved game.
Beta comment 2: 1% advance to enter the war as the US every 9 DPs may be overcorrecting it. From Sept '39 to Dec '41 it would increase war entry by 9%. Will get to that date before giving my final opinion on it, though.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 5:48:05 PM)

wow.. so I have a valid serial number and cannot install.. hum thats troubling

Razz1 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 5:52:37 PM)

I'm trying to figure that out.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 5:54:47 PM)

THANKS
wowo.. I checked that the members section s# is the same as the emailed S# and yes the are the same.. no spaces ... perhaps the list of good numbers from those sold from Matrix is corrupted? Anyway I am glad you are helping...

Razz1 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 6:19:37 PM)

Please join the Members Club.

Then register the game.

Then wait for Matrix to update their site.

This will help for future patches.

Today, we will have to wait for them to update their site.

1) Never try to overwrite an existing game. They are not compatible.

Delete your old saved games if your not going to use them.

2)
I believe I agree with you about the USA.

However, try this in your game.

Elections when the time comes and any influence you can give to the USA from Great Britain.

Both of those bring the USA closer to War.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 8:38:55 PM)

well.. It is frustrating.. so I bought the game and registered, yet due to buying from M rather from Slitherine, I cannot play the beta.. seriously may be the last game I buy from Matrix after buying about 45 titles

Kitakami -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 9:10:24 PM)

Beta comment 3: I believe Germany should go to war with the USSR over Bessarabia ONLY if it has already comquered/Vichied France. Otherwise it should pressure Rumania into surrendering Bessarabia to the USSR. Historically, I do not think Germany would have risked a 2-front war with available forces (especially Panzer units).

@Razz: a better use of US diplo points is bringing Iceland into the war. I am playing with only the US human controlled, to see how the AI does with everything else. England has not helped bring the US into the war so far, and I think that is something that SHOULD happen... as it did histrically.

doomtrader -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 10:00:34 PM)

The serial number problem is beyond my capacity.
I'm sure that somebody from Slitherine or Matrix will be able to sort it out, and I'll try to get them as soon as possible.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/21/2012 10:50:29 PM)

I understand and do not hold you responsible.. its not the first time I have had issues not byingfrom the source..
no worries lots of hockey on the tube now..

aspqrz02 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/22/2012 12:27:42 AM)

I bought my copy from Matrix and had no trouble with the serial number + beta.

Forgive the stupid question ... but are you sure the serial number has been typed in correctly?

There is, as you may not know, a text file in the top level of the game directory that stores it, so you can cut and paste from there (in most Matrix games it is "serialreg", but in ToF it isn't ... it is "Time_of_Fury") ... and make sure that there isn't an (unseen) blank space at the beginning or end when you cut and paste it (that's caught me a couple of times).

(Apologies for stating the bleeding obvious: A friend works a Computer Helpdesk and tells more, for example, that asking "Is the Computer plugged in" is not a stupid question, forex [;)])

Phil

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/22/2012 12:38:49 AM)

well, no idea cut and paste, typed etc...
will try again

LiquidSky -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/22/2012 12:51:36 AM)

I have the same problem. Bought the game from Matrix. Game is registered, and I can cut and paste the serial number from Matrix.

Get invalid Serial error.

Find old email when game was purchased...see that it is the same serial number. Cut and paste it in.

Invalid Serial number

Remove hyphens.

Invalid Serial number

Remove spaces

Invalid Serial number

Carefully type the number in the textbox with hyphens

Invalid Serial number

Ah well..guess I have to wait for the official patch to be released so I can patch it in game. Pity, was looking forward to playing this.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/22/2012 1:23:00 AM)

borsook79 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/22/2012 12:13:09 PM)

From initial testing

- with 7:1 still no losses for the attacker - WAD?
- we were supposed the get some notifications about effects of subs around UK, so far have seen none.

EDIT> May not be beta related, but I've just met with empty Warsaw, three units around it to the north, southern entrance undefended... :(

halus -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/22/2012 4:28:38 PM)

My copy is from Matrix and had no problems with using the code key.  Launching the beta v1.01 and found my saved games there, and was even able to open and play the ones that were crashing the game back to desktop - cool.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/22/2012 5:35:22 PM)

Halus.. I am truly glad you are able.. BUT I and others still are in the dark!  rest of post edited for pc reasons [:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]
thats my constipated emotional icon [:-][:-]

I've tried the Barbarossa scenario, where I can get loads of 7-1 odds at the beginning. I'm seeing losses almost every combat.

Well, exactly, maybe I misunderstood that it won't be possible to have 7-1 and no losses? Or does it mean that sometimes there are losses and sometimes there aren't?

Also I'm more concerned about the subs, still putting them in the Atlantic and not knowing if they are doing anything or not...

Razz1 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/22/2012 10:05:00 PM)

Don't worry the subs are working.

Check your raider activity.

In the test I ran, out of approx 10 7-1 combats, only one had no loss to the attacker.

If you look at 'raider activity' in the reports section, you'll see something like:

'so and so flotilla attacked a convoy in the xyz sea zone and inflicted x STP losses'

It's the 'inflicted x STP losses' that is new, I believe.

A very welcome change, indeed.

oldspec4 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/23/2012 12:02:41 AM)

Up to turn 30 as the Russians in the Grand campaign. So far running smoothly w/ no ctds, etc. One thing I have noticed is that the Germans attacked the Netherlands, Belgians, and Luxembourg but didn't get a notice of war declaration popup until one or two turns later (actually, a Luxembourg surrendered popup occured prior to the war declaration popup).

Starkiller -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/23/2012 12:29:12 AM)

Odd. I bought through Matrix Games, and my serial worked on the Beta with no problems.
Could it be computer related in any way?
