doomtrader -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/30/2012 4:30:03 PM)

I think we can prepare a little mod for that, but let's wait with that until the official version will be released.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/30/2012 6:35:32 PM)

Dr.. I play axis and do not get attacked, are you attacking the baltics?
That is the only thing other than not honoring the molotov pact?

Alex Gilbert -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/30/2012 9:42:48 PM)

It happens to me too almost every time. June'40 USSR declares on me as Germany (did so last night in the Beta as well)

Do garrison requirements enter into the calculation? I tend to place infantry corps on the border with the USSR (mainly because I now expect a surprise Russian attack sometime in 1940).

Otherwise, nothing special- no violation of the M-R pact, no violation of the Baltics (in fact, I have found in about half of my games that the USSR does not take over the Baltic states).

Now, small sample size disclaimer exists, but this is now based on 6 or 7 games, and in all but 1 I was attacked sometime between June and August 1940.

By the way, there is no alert that the USSR declared war- the only alert that I got was when I was asked to chose a policy towards conquered Soviet territory. I think at least there should be an alert that they have declared war on me.

doomtrader -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/30/2012 9:58:04 PM)

OK,

Looks like we have found the guilty, was an error in the date.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/30/2012 10:33:48 PM)

how does that affect the game? The event of sov dow is date related? interesting

doomtrader -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/31/2012 1:17:15 AM)

It was not connected to DOW, only to the army concentration

FieldOfGlory -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/31/2012 4:51:52 AM)

Glad to hear it!

I like historical what ifs as much as the next guy but I don't feel comfortable with unprevoked soviet attacks in pre '41. Understandable if as freeboy said violating Molotov or attacking Baltics but if Germany is honering the pact and not threating Soviets there should be no attack. Stalin would not have attacked in '40 without a very good reason.

IMHO

Dr. Foo -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/31/2012 4:09:32 PM)

Since playing the Beta I've noticed that minor countries are in the negative PP. I like to play Axis and control Slovakia and Finland. Prior to the Beta both countries made modest PP gains each turn now they are in the negative.

Is this by design?

doomtrader -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (1/31/2012 4:55:16 PM)

Yep, this is by design, as the upkeep cost has been increased, we still need to balance the minor early in the game when the war economy is still relatively low.

doomtrader -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/2/2012 8:31:27 AM)

I have updated first post and provided there a link for a hotfix fixing hangs connected with French surrender:

here is the file

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/3/2012 12:59:23 AM)

doom, I now have in feb 41 pre barbarrossa buiildup upkeep of over 250 pp per turn
that is raighteous dude! good news if nwe can turn up forts defense!

Bulldog61 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/11/2012 12:38:50 AM)

With the cost of upkeep being increased how does one replace units or add new ones I'm 7 turns into the 39 game as german and am - 60 PP and getting worse every turn?

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/11/2012 2:59:20 AM)

dude we both are in Aurora! how cool..
So, you need to take the low countries and poland to see the pp start to seing into the positive...
I dont buy anything before the fall of france and spend carefully, mostly increases effectiveness of tacair.. goodluck

Bulldog61 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/11/2012 2:36:55 PM)

The challenge is that losses sustained agaist Poland are not replacable prior to defeating the netherlands and France at full strength. The german Army expanded significnatly over the winter. Kind of make the game unplayable.

doomtrader -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/11/2012 3:32:35 PM)

MikeKraemer, I'm hearing you.

However I would like to see some more comments about that. Maybe we should increase the war economy modifier at the beginning of the game little higher.

freeboy -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/11/2012 3:39:00 PM)

I think its fine.. I do not build anything new, I reinforce the air units.. poland is cake in a three or four turns..
immediately take low countries..BUT you cannot build new units until france falls imo

ULTIMO -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/12/2012 11:55:35 AM)

I think Germany economy is ok. I dont need more money or more units to fight against France.
Playing against AI is quite easy if I do the right things. UK asks for peace in 1941. And SU surrenders in 1943.
Currently I'm trying to play German HARD against Allies/SU NORMAL. It's challenging...

I'd recommend playing at Germany hard/Allies-SU very easy. It makes for a better challenge than leaving them at normal.

Bulldog61 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/12/2012 3:35:12 PM)

The current econmy in 1.00 seems ok at normal. In 1.01 I am unable to replace losses taken against Poland and the allied air forces are attriting my westrn front forces.

Bulldog61 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/14/2012 2:14:18 AM)

I think the upkeep cost in 1.00 are fine. I do see some issues and I'll list what I see.

1. German Infantry. I'm in a game at Aug 41 and German Infantry Is still at level 1 while Russian and Italian are level 2 and British is level 3. The Germans need to start with a higher Reseach pool so that they can get level 2 Infantry ~ 1st Qtr 1940.

2, the Russian AI likes to attack Finland ~ Nov 1939 and by July or August have a huge army and 600+ PP as they are on 100% war economy They Probably should go above 25% untill the Germans attack then grow slowly as their industry was moving to the Urals.

3. British carrier's are far too strong in range of land based air. I never realized 2 dozen bi-planes could best half the luftwaffe.

4. USA shouldn't be able to enter the war until December 41

I have also experienced these effects and agree that adjustment is needed. [:)]

ADMIRAL3 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/14/2012 5:46:41 PM)

Good evening, i m a newbie here but i play matrix games since the very start. As far as the new beta update of TOF (1.01) tried many times clicking on the suggested link without results. have registered TOF but the my games file says no dowload available. So what?

halus -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/14/2012 6:40:33 PM)

Some of us want to game a somewhat historical campaign, but the only ingame option (short of re-writing codes) is adjusting the PP capacity of countries. I was assuming medium would be the most historical accurate, but apparently not.

Case in point - America has declared war on the axis in late summer 1941 (again another situation of an Allied DoW without provocation - after France the Axis made no further DoW's and the Balkan campaign never happened). A few turns later the US has all it's carriers (13 of them) on Italy's doorstep and bombing the crud out of it's troops. This would eventually lead to an amphibious landing on Sicily. Historically at the time of Pearl Harbour, the US only had 7 plus one escort type.

Bulldog61 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/16/2012 1:22:01 AM)

I think the maintenance cost were fine as they were I am able to get the German Army up to somewhat historical levels and still keep my fighters operational thru the constant attrittion goin on with Frech and British tac air.

I absolutely second that.

Bulldog61 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/17/2012 2:30:13 PM)

Another Thought. Should The German possesion of Metz be required for Vichy France? Total Surrender but Vichy? or is there a difference?

halus -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/17/2012 10:25:32 PM)

I'm not sure what criteria has to be met for a Vichy France, but every campaign game I have played up to this point (only Italy as human controlled) the German AI has trouble meeting this requirement versus historical timeline. My current game was the longest yet for the event to occur, it was October 1941 by the time Vichy happened.

Magpius -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/17/2012 10:44:18 PM)

Is there a completion date for this?
or
Is is it going to be perpetual nuanced game balancing?

Razz1 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/17/2012 11:01:16 PM)

Completion date for what?

Vichy work s in 1.01 and there is always a chance France will fight to Death.

Princessjj1 -> RE: Open Beta for v1.01 starts now (2/18/2012 12:11:22 PM)

What is the due date for the 1.01 patch to be released? (NON-beta)
