So it must be perfect.

Any reports about possible problems must be the beta tester's fault. Obviously it has to be anti-virus software causing all those problems. Must be. Blinders and earplugs back on....lalalala

That first bug you posted (about the second copy of your empire) happens when you add a new empire with the editor. It doesn't always double the players empire, but some empire always ends up cloned when you add a new one (At least in my games).

I have never added an empire to any of my games. I have never come to the point where I am the dominant force that I have to add other empires. I make it so that when I start, my empire is the weakest one there is. Surviving is my early goal and adding more would make it even tougher for me.

I have been trying out some strange strategy to see how the game handles it which could be causing the problems.

I have been adding fighter bays in frigates, gas mining stations, mining stations and defense bases. I then build defense bases on each planet that has my GMS/MS with one frigate to defend it. So each one GMS/MS has a lot of fighter cover.

Maybe this is the problem. If it is then I'd like to see it get fixed because I kinda like this strat.

Yap, it's no guarantee that you'll have a stable game with older save games but it's worth a try if you really want to.

Nice patch. My 1.7.0.10 Dhayut game was repeatedly crashing at the same point each time I loaded from save. I downloaded and installed 1.7.0.12 and voila! No more crashes.[&o]

havent played dw in a couple of months time to give this new beta a whirl, had a very quick game the other day noticed a few civilian ships stopped in deep space doing nothing, but i think thats normal right?

Jezwhywhy, civilian ships stopped in deep space is not a common thing. Check and see if they are damaged and lost their hyperdrive. If they are important to you, send a construction ship to repair them. But it is true that some civilian ships do hang out at planets in an idle statis for a while.

Civilian ships can end up stopped in deep space when they have no mission and flee from pirates/monsters or hostile fleets.  They will remain there until assigned a mission.  Perhaps this is what happened in your game jezwhywhy?
