Imagine this scenario: You're playing PBEM. Your Search planes spot an enemy suface TF (doesn't matter if it's Combat or Bombardment). You figure that either you're gonna catch it coming or going. You click on your own Surface Combat TF and select "Follow Enemy TF", and you select that enemy TF to follow. On the next turn, your TF goes tear-assing after the TF, but wait... the enemy has retreated - right into enemy LBA range, and you get pummelled. What you'll hear next is whining about how "gamey" a "trick" that is. Anyone who has studied tactics of the early to mid 20th century IJN/IJA understands that "luring" and "deception were the staple of their battle plans. Just look at Midway. Anyway, I personally don't find a need for this feature. In a recent Scenario 19, in a mid-May turn, I managed to surprise and nail all three IJN carriers, and then proceeded to chase them half way back to Truk and finish them off. I selected a point where I wanted to be, and then turned on "React" and it worked very nicely. I might want the follow feature for subs, because subs only follow TF when on Computer control, and then they tend to wander all over hellandgone...
