December 18th 1941 Overall Another dull day, and this one is not even worthy of a screenshot (aka print screen would not work for me...again). There is no real fighting anywhere, and I found this turn to be good for not much more than a sigarette while waiting. Invasions (More) Japanese troops land at Tarakan, Kendari and Rabaul today. Once more our CD at Tarakan damage some Japanese AKs. Bases lost Japan seizes control of Iba, Cabanatuan and Praboemoelih today. Hong Kong A deliberate Japanese attack brings the fortification down to 1, the base is expected to fall soon. Batavia Japanese Oscars sweep the base today. The dutch fighters scramble and shoot down 1 of the enemy AC, but lose 3 of their own. Sub warfare A successful day for the IJN subs as they torpedo and sink DD King off San Fransisco. Seems the hunter became the hunted there. Our own subs do nothing but dodge depthcharges throughout the day. They have been ordered to redeploy as it seems the enemy knows where they are. Plea I see that Sebastian has opened his own AAR now, if anyone reads both sides, please make no comment on our opponents input in the opposing AAR. Thank you.

December 19th 1941 Invasions The enemy keep landing troops at Kendari, Rabaul and Tarakan. At Rabaul our CDs only comes into play after the 3rd IJN wave reaches the shore and damages a CM. At Tarakan another AK is damaged and set on fire. Bases lost Japan captures Temuloh, Kweiteh and Kendari today. Hong Kong The enemy makes a deliberate attack and reduce the fortification there completely. Singapore Our Buffalos perform wonderfully today (see below). Batavia The base is swept by Oscars and Zeroes. The Dutch fighters cannot stand up to these fighters, and we lose 3 AC while shoting down none. It is a matter of time before the Dutch airforce will be wiped out. I guess it is about time to send all ships away to safer locations than Soerebaja. Sub warfare/ASW Off San Fransisco, more and more subs are spotted, and the USN is unable to do anything about it, as their ASW ability just is not up to the task. The Royal Canadian navy has sent 4 KVs to act as ASW off SF. Hopefully this will deter the IJN subs somewhat more than the USN DDs. Subs are now also spotted off Oz, so ASW patrols are now needed off Sydney as well. Sightings Carriers have been spotted north of Rabaul, caution is adviced in the area. December 20th 1941 Invasions The enemy keeps landing troops at Rabaul and Tarakan, but today they also started invasions of Jesselton and Ocean Island. Bases lost Japan seizes control of Sibuyan, Atimonan and Ocean Island. Submarine warfare Two enemy submarines sink a TK and an AK north-west (by map directions, not compass directions) off Darwin today. Hong Kong Our engineers did a tremendous job during the night, and manage to rebuild the fortification to level one, which means the enemy attacks during the day only manages to reduce the fortification once more. Singapore The enemy has finally realized that his Nates are no match for our Buffalos, and have started to sweep with Oscars instead. The result is not too bad really, as we shoot down 2 Oscars for the loss of 3 Buffalos. Sightings The enemy has based Betties and Zeroes at Kendari, this is worrying as it threathens the route between Soerebaja and Darwin. Main concern A letter has been sent to Washington and London where the map below was posted. We try to explain to the politicians the need for the following; 1. Fighters, and not outdated ones, but frontline fighters. 2. Ships with an ASW rating of atleast 4. 3. More medium level bombers with decent range for ASW. 4. More B17s for raiding/harassing enemy bases. 5. More PPs to better adjust our defences. For now the need for 1, 4 and 5 are rated as high, while the need for 2 and 3 are rated as critical. As can be seen below, the main issue for now is IJN submarines. They appear in the "correct" spots, causing alot of concern. Espesially since THEIR torpedeos work properly. December 21st 1941 Invasions More Japanese troops land at Tarakan, Rabaul and Jesselton, while reports now also claim invasions at San Jose and Mersing. The enemy is still not able to take Rabaul or Tarakan, it seems our shore defences there are harder to overcome than anticipated by the Japanese. We expect this to change soon, espesially at Rabaul where reports claim battleships and cruisers are now aiding the IJN landings. Bases lost The enemy capture Butuan, Tsiatso, Djambi and Jesselton today. Sinkings The submarines open the show as two IJN submarines sink a TK and an AO before one of our Dutch subs responds by sinking a Pb. Hardly a fair trade, but we will take any sinkings nevertheless. Then the Japanese air force wants in, and launch a huge raid on Batavia where our fighters are unable to stop the bombers. 4 AKs, 3 AVPs and 5 AMc are sunk in the harbour. Hong Kong Once more the day belongs to the Royal Engineers who once more rebuilt the fortifications. The IJA must be getting frustrated by now. Singapore The enemy now sends in Zeroes followed by Oscars, the result is 7 downed Buffalos to no Japanese AC downed. The decision has been made to spare the remaining AC and send them to Oz and India as we are too low on airframes to throw them away for nothing. [Baby-KB Appraoching Soerebaja. KB Has not been seen for some days now, she is probably rearming and refueling. Might have been seen off Rabaul a few days ago, but no proper intel. Total Allied ships sunk -BB Arizona -BB Prince of Wales -CA Houston -CL Java -CL Tromp -CL Dragon -CL Durban -CL Marblehead -CL Boise -9 DD (3 USN, 3 RN, 1 RAN, 2 Dutch) -5 AP -45 AK -2 AO -12 TK -3 SS -4 AVP -1 AS -6 AMc -4 AM -2 CM -4 HDML -4 PT -1 PG Total Japanese ships sunk -CA Nagara -CL Kinugasa -1 DD -1 AP -12 AK -1 SSx -1 CM -1 E -3 Pb Remember however that FoW is on, so some of the sinkings might not be true. Aerial war so far The Allies has lost a total of 430 AC to all causes so far, this can be compared to the Japanese loss of 317. Also worth noting here is that the difference is roughly 100 AC, which is also what the Japanese has destroyed on the ground, so all in all we have to be satisfied with this. December 22nd 1941 Invasions More enemy troops land at San Jose and Tarakan. Strangely enough, no more troops are reported to land at Rabaul for now. Bases lost The enemy takes Mersing today, and our valiant defenders at Tarakan are finally subdued. Hong Kong The enemy deliberate attack ends in 1:3 in odds, but we take more losses than the IJA, so it is only a matter of time before our troops are too worn down and will have to surrender. Baby-KB Baby-KB is still lingering off Soerebaja, but it appears it might not be at full strength. Submarine warfare Japanese submarines sink a Dutch AMc, no big loss. December 23rd 1941 Invasions The enemy finish unloading his troops at San Jose today, no new invasions have been reported. Bases lost Japan seizes Lucena, San Jose and Manilla, all located in the PHI. The loss of Manilla is not at all a big blow as the plan was always to defend at Clark AF, and supplies and troops have moved there. Hong Kong Our glorious engineers once more build up the fortification levels of the base, making sure the city remains in our hand for another day. Rabaul The enemy forces here are too weak for the time being, but as we know there are enemy flattops around, I do not want to risk anything by shipping in reinforcements. Sub warfare Our Bolo's at PH keep bringing in reports about hits scored on enemy subs. At HighCommand however, we doubt those pilots are even able to tell a submarine from an octopus. December 24th 1941 Christmas time Seing as it is Christmas, both sides find something to cheer about during the day. Granted, the Japanese may have the most to cheer about, but the Allies rejoice at the effort of the Dutch airforce (see below) as they make a sneak attack. Invasions The IJN arrives with another convoy off Rabaul, offloading a regiment. Bases lost Mauban, Lahat, Oosthaven and Rabaul surrender to the Japanese today. Hong Kong Once more the British show that unlike the Chinese, THEY are prepared for combat, as they repell a deliberate japanese attack on the city. However the battle has become one of attrition, and with no way to bring in fresh troops, the enemy will take the city, but for now we are thankful for every day gained. Baby-KB She seems to have adapted an interception position between DEI and NE-Oz. Since no ships travel there anymore, this is a good place for her to linger. Whops-factor Forgot to check on one of my CV TFs last turn, good thing I did today, as all the DDs were out of fuel. The TF is located at Palmyra, so they will divide the fuel from the carrier and the cruisers and await the arrival of two AOs sent down from PH (I do not dare send my CVs into PH at this time due to enemy subs). December 25th 1941 Invasions Japanese troops are reported to be landing at Makassar, Balikpapan and Nauru Island. At balikpapan our forces claim that a Japanese AK hit one of the mines in the harbour. Bases lost Japan captures Cotabato, Malacca and Nauru Island today. Hong Kong Although the garrison hold today as well, several units simply ceased to be today. The end is near. Sydney It is a concern that the ASW ships we have patroling the harbour, and sealanes just off the port, themselves are targeted and sunk by the IJN subs. Today we also got reports of mini-subs in the harbour. Guess we better start moving ships away from Oz...

December 26th 1941 Invasions More ships unload at Balikpapan today, and the reports we recieve from the base is that all CDs should have more big guns and fewer of the 75mms. Although the 75mm score more hits, their damage is simply too low, while the 150mm scores fewer hits but cause alot more damage. This intel has been sent to Washington. Bases lost Japan gains control over Batangas, Balikpapan, Kudat and Makassar today. Hong Kong Our engineers have all been awarded the VC now, as they once more manage to build the fortification level up to 1, meaning the city holds yet another day. Darwin Baby-KB launches a minor raid on the port, but as this was somewhat expected, no ships were in port. The arrival of a surface TF off Darwin is bad news for the ships bound to Sydney though.... Sydney It has been decided that ships have no value whatsoever in Sydney, and the ships there are being shipped to PH/US WC. Lae Our forces report a Japanese landing force approaching. Submarine warfare Our ASW ships are still being targeted by enemy subs, luckily none are hit today. But we really need our lads to learn how to use the equipment at hand better, and then we need to get them better equipment to fight off these pesky subs. December 27th 1941 Invasions No invasions occur today. Bases lost Japan takes Cagayan, Kuala Lumpur, Taiping and johure Bahru. All these bases were empty by design. Hong Kong It seems the Japanese forces are worn down, as they only make a bombardment attack this turn. Our unadjusted Av in the base is now down to 24. Darwin The enemy does not pursue our ships in the Darwin area, so they all move closer to Sydney and safety. Singapore The enemy launches all available aircraft in the vicinity against eh AF at Singapore. They do not achieve much, and our AA shoot down a few bombers, so I will be glad if this is kept up. After all, those pilots the Japanese lose now are highly experienced, and the replacements that are needed has to be trained from scratch. Lack of screenshot Nothing worth taking a screenshot of today. If there are any requests, do not hesitate to ask.

Japanese aerial raids Japanese aircrafts appear over Darwin, Singapore, Hong Kong and Port Moresby today. Hong Kong Hehe, our engineers once more rebuild the defences, making the garrison live yet another day. Concern WHAT is the TF below? December 29th 1941 Invasions Enemy troops are reported to land at Finschafen, Iloilo, Tulagi and Shortlands. Bases lost The enemy takes control over Polillo qand Finschafen today. Japanese aerial raids Japan sends aircrafts to Batavia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Hong Kong Once more our defenders hold against the Japanese assault. Good job lads! KB/Baby-KB Baby-KB is SW of Soerebaja trying to stop more ships from escaping the DEI, but none are left (save some PTs). KB is off Port Moresby where she intercepted a convoy bound for Sydney. Once more my greed sees the end of several ships. Our carriers have been told to get the H*** out of there and head for Auckland. Mistakes made Once more the desire to get as much as possible out of DEI results in more ships lost than was actually needed. Here are some thoughts. If you still have the time, I would also consider moving your Dutch forces to Coco Islands. Or some of the British/Indian forces slated for Singapore. Build up the forts, get about 300AV of Dutch/Indians here and it is tough for the Japanese to take and protects your flank as you move fuel from Abadan to Perth. Also, send some supply to Rangoon and ship it to China before the Burma road closes. One can move about 1500-2000 units a day. Makes a big difference in China. You will need the AVG and planes from Singapore to protect against IJ attacking the convoys.

The enemy is seen closing in on Rangoon, so before I could get those ships there to offload, the city will have fallen I am afraid. Troops have now been diverted to Cocos Island, good point, and one I have not paid attention to before. This unfortunately reduces my defences at Colombo for the time being. Scary [:D] Terje

December 30th 1941 Invasions We get reports on Japanese forces landing at Iloilo, Tulagi and Port Moresby today. Only Iloilo has any troops, maybe we can delay them for some days at least. Bases lost Japan captures Lubang, Shortlands and Tulagi. Then reports arrive that the forces at Iloilo surrenders at the first encounter with the Japanese. Seems our PHI troops are not made for war. The heaviest blow to morale however is the news that Hong Kong finally surrenders to the Japanese. Still, our forces there fought off overwhelming odds for much longer than anticipated. Japanese aerial raids Japan raids Batavia, Singapore and Soerebaja today. They do not score any troubling hits, and since the raid on Soerebaja is made by Baby-KB, I take it that the 3 downed AC were piloted by high exp pilots. Let us hope they keep this up. KB KB has split in two, supposedly covering the invasion at Port Moresby, but as they realize that they have nothing to fear, they give chase to the rag tag TFs caught between Port Moresby and Darwin. We will try to utilize this (see below). Baby-KB South of Soerebaja, raiding Soerebaja. We tried to mass all our Dutch bomb-carrying planes for an attack, but the Dutch decided that small groups of AC going in one after another was a better way to do it. Not a wise decision, and no hits are scored. I guess the IJN is still laughing at our attempts. Charge of the Light Brigade all over? With KB occupied with sinking the ships caught between her and Darwin, there is a small window of oppertunity. I usually put about 350AV in Coco Islands, all Dutch. I move those two large Dutch Air support units to Oz and the rest of the Base Forces and Inf to Coco Islands, depending on what my foe does.

December 31st 1941 Invasions No reports arrive about new Japanese invasions today, but reports claim that more troops do land at Port Moresby. Bases lost Japan conquers (cannot wait for being able to write "we take") Siquor(sp?), Moulmein, Samarinda and Port Moresby. Japanese aerial raids Enemy aircrafts attack targets at Singapore and Clark Airfield, as well as sweeping the skies over Soerebaja. KB Kido Butai tries to finish of the ships they did not sink yesterday, another bad day to be an Allied sailor. Baby-KB Seems to be withdrawing towards the PHI. Guess she is off to refuel and rearm. Too bad, always nice to know the location of the Japanese flattops... Sub warfare The IJN submarines off San Fransisco realises that the Canadian KVs are better at fighting back than the USN DDs as our Canadian friends score 3 hits on a submarine today. Problem is ofc that my pilots are around 30 ASW xp which I think means they will drop their bombs on a pack of whales and claim that they killed 5 IJN subs [:D] Terje

January 1st 1942 Invasions There are no reports of Japanese troops landing anywhere today. Although this is a good thing, it is also a slight concern. Are the Japanese gathering troops and ship for something big, or are they simply gathering their breath? Bases lost The only base lost to Japan today is Dumanquilas. I am happy to allow Japan to spend time on taking unimportant bases. Allows me more time to gather PPs and buying out units to defend more important bases. Japanese aerial raids The Japanese airforce attack Singapore, Horn Island, Darwin and Yenan as well as sweeping Soerebaja once more. KB The KB seems to merge again. She is hugging the OZ coast while she continue to sink the ships she has been targeted the past two days. Baby-KB Hmm Baby-KB has turned back, and is now off Darwin. Slight concerns There are alot of Japanese TFs north of Darwin. Are these alot of minor invasion forces targeting Dutch bases, or am I looking at an invasion of Oz? Allied "phase" We are now at the phase where we are slowed down by the lack of APs and PPs. All I can do is shuffle forces around as best I can. For now the main focus has to be Pago Pago, Suva and the Islands in the Indian Ocean. The most avaited convoy for the time being is a convoy shipping US fighters to Oz. Bases lost We lose control over Tagbilaran(sp?) and Sambas today. Japanese aerial attacks Japan launches aerial raids on Singapore, Changsha and Yenan today. January 3rd 1942 Invasions Reports claim that Japan has landed troops at Gasmata, Pontianak, Horn Island, Buna and Madang today. Bases lost Japan captures Oroquieta, Horn Island, Buna, Gasmata, Watampone and Roxas today. Japanese aerial raids Japanese aircrafts launch attacks on Singapore, Clark Airfield, Yenan, Nanyang and Kanshien today, they also conducted their daily sweep at Soerebaja, but failed to shoot down any Dutch fighters today. The Dutch failed at shooting down any Japanese plane as well. KB/Baby-KB Lost contact with both, still ordering my CVs to flee the scene though. Nothing to be won by lingering in the area where KB was last spotted, but alot to lose. Current actions It is mostly a waiting game now, waiting for PPs to accumulate, waiting for convoys to arrive, waiting for ships to finish repairs etc. We have ordered an AMPH convoy to load at SF and head for PP today, that is pretty much all. Thoughts It seems Sebastian is going for an all out attack in China. Not much to do about that. The attack on Horn Island might suggest an attempt on Oz as well. The increased speed of the Japanese assault is not really surprising as we do not have any proper forces in those locations. But every day Japan uses to take the Dutch bases is a Godsent, as it means more time to fortify Pago Pago and Suva. Japanese aerial raids Japanese bombers appear over Chengchow, Kanshien, Singapore and Soerebaja today. The Dutch fighters once more fail at shooting down any Japanese aircrafts. KB Shows up between Papua New Guinea and Darwin. Might be going to help with the invasion of DEI, but that is pure guesswork. January 5th 1942 Disclaimer Messed up and lost the screenshot. Nothing of real interest anyway hehe. Invasions Coast watchers report Japanese troops landing at Salamaua today. Bases lost Calapan, kanshien, Benkoelen and Sandokan all fell to the Japanese. Japanese aerial raids Japan bombs Nanyang, Kanshien, Singapore and Chengchow, while sweeping Soerebaja. Today the Dutch lose 6 aircrafts while downing none, so they have ordered their fighters to stand down for a while, allowing the squadrons time to rest and refit. They are also contemplating adjusting their CAP altitude. KB No intel about her. Baby-KB Located off Normanton where she sinks two hiding transports.

Japanese aerial raids Japan bombs Chengchow and Singapore today. There is also the daily sweep at Soerebaja, but this time the Japanese met no Dutch fighters as the pilots are resting. KB Off Port Moresby seems to be heading east. Baby-KB North of Normanton. Launched a raid on Normanton to sink the remaining damaged AS that is located there, they did not succeed, which probably means another attack tomorrow. Allied actions Nothing more than adjusting the movement of a few TFs. This is the great waiting period for the Allies. We cannot even upgrade those outdated USN fighters at the moment. Had hoped Sebastian would not bomb Soerebaja today in fear of me making a trap, but he did, and I lost a submarine as a result. The Dutch pilots are ordered airborne again, but the CAP altitude has been increased to 20.000 feet. KB Between PNG and Oz. Baby-KB She has disappeared.
