No, UV still hangs up when I try to load saved games.

I heard that the problem was that you would correctly rename the files, but the .dat extension would remain, but would be hidden. So that is why I unhid the extensions, I was expecting to still see the .dat extensions in there.

I have renamed everything per the directions, but the game still hangs up.

Please post a screenshot of your UV save game directory.

mogami -> E-mail (12/29/2002 11:10:22 PM)

Hi, Send one of your non-working files to
mogami99@aol.com

estaban -> (12/31/2002 4:13:24 AM)

I've never taken a screenshot outside of a game application, how do you take a shot of the directory?

I'll send a game file to Mogami.

mogami -> files (12/31/2002 4:58:12 AM)

Hi, His files hang as soon as you try to load them. I renamed the file he sent and it still hangs. Also the file is close to 100k larger then my other PBEM files. The only other time I have seen files do this is when the game locked up while I was saving. The files that resulted also produced the same effect. I have sent the file on to Erik R for him to look at.

In case it helps in diagnosing the problem, I run Win 98 Snd edition, and I am currently patched up to version 2.2

BigJoe417 -> (12/31/2002 12:48:28 PM)

What I find really really sucks about this is that I have lost all my save descriptions! Now how do I recall which save game was what?

BigJoe417 -> (12/31/2002 12:54:11 PM)

I'm sorry I had to post again. This is So very upsetting. To update the game I lose all 20 some odd descriptions of my saves? Can this be? Say it aint so! How will I kmow which game was what? Why was this done? I'll try and calm down now and hope tommorow maybe someone from Matrix will have an answer for me.

thanks
Joe

mogami -> MSN (1/1/2003 3:12:10 AM)

Hi. estaban you did not recieve these turns via MSN did you? That e-mail service has been yacking up UV PBEM games for the last few days (10?)

BigJoe417 -> (1/1/2003 3:14:46 AM)

It seems to me the Matrix folks should have coded a routine to automatically rename the saved games to the new extention thereby saving us all the experience of losing all our game descriptions and having to rename the files ourselves.

estaban -> (1/1/2003 4:19:20 AM)

No, I haven't received any turns from you, Mogami

mogami -> LOL (1/1/2003 4:29:14 AM)

Hi, No I meant the person who e-mailed these now non working PBEM is not using MSN? (or is he)

frank1970 -> (1/2/2003 3:36:55 PM)

esteban, Couldnīt send your partner the last turn in the converted form again? Maybe he has an XP system.

estaban -> (1/3/2003 2:59:33 AM)

Mogami:

No, my partner for the game I sent you is not on MSN, he is on a Finnish ISP. He just sent me a new saved game, I will give it a try later and see if I can run the file.

estaban -> (1/4/2003 1:32:40 PM)

OK, I was able to run the file he sent me, we have moved our scenario to a new save slot and it works.

Still can't get the other saves to work though, and my partner for one other game doesn't seem to have any saves left on his end.

Yes.

But I'm sure they know this now.
