More pictures, these are from a few different occasions.

The Dak looking forlorn whilst she was waiting for a new engine.

P7, Battle of Britain survivor,Messerschmidt killer and film star. The oldest aircraft on the BBMF and only flying survivor of the Battle of Britain. She's seen combat, film stars and been shot down, quite an action filled career...

Phantom of the Ruhr, the original was one of the 35 Lancs that achieved 100 sorties. It's interesting to note that several squadrons had more than one of the centurions serve in their ranks.

Dixie -> RE: BBMF (9/16/2012 3:35:07 PM)

The next bunch were taken from my first trip away with the BBMF. These are all from Southend, the quality isn't great as I had to take the pics during the few quiet moments we had while prepping the planes for flight.

MK and LF sat on the pan. This was before the locals realised that we were about!

The Lanc just prior to departure. By this point the fighters had left and engine start is just a few minutes away.

PA474, this was the day of the Bomber Command Memorial unveiling. She's got a belly full of poppies in this pic.

Hurricane LF, minus her Merlin.

And finally, the aircraft everyone forgets about. The DH Chipmunk, that's me on the wing. This was taken shortly after (about 10 minutes in fact) I was authorised to look after the Chippy on my own.

More from a recent photo op.

Thumper lazing in the last of the afternoon sunlight with LF and P7 sat behind her.

A closer view of the nose art. Not only are we going to drop bombs on you, we're going to do it from an aircraft with a cartoon rabbit on it!

The Lanc, Hurri and Spit.

Probably the most valuable Spitfire in the world, and my second favourite of the BBMF.

One of our aircrew showing off, the fighter pilots all got dressed up in 1940's gear and posed with the fighters. You wouldn't get a technician dressing up in 1940's uniform for photos....

I'm surprised you don't have a Moth of some description floating around.

Not good enough for conversion training???

Edit: (Or is it that open cockpit thing...)

It's probably a number of reasons, I'm not exactly sure but I'd guess at the following:

It's an open cockpit so it's noisier.
The Chipmunk is closer in performance to a Hurri/Spit than a Tiger Moth (still well off though).
It's another type of aircraft, we already operate 5 different types (or nine if you include the different marks of Spitfire).
The Chipmunk can almost recreate the forward view from a Spitfire if the pilot is in the rear seat.
There were probably more Chipmunks about than Tiger Moths (or similar) at the time we acquired them.

The Chipmunk is a nice enough aircraft, a bit of a throwback in some ways. She's fabric covered so the underwing access panels are actually zip fasteners.

Dixie -> RE: BBMF (9/22/2012 9:45:25 PM)

The Dak, returning home from Eindhoven. She went across to the Netherlands as part of the anniversary of Market Garden. There was a group of Dutch visitors around BBMF today including a gentleman who was living in Arnhem at the time of the battle. He was quite pleased to see the Dakota, and the Lanc, and a three Spitfire flypast as well as the other two Spitfires on their own.

Dixie -> RE: BBMF (9/30/2012 8:03:10 PM)

It was a busy day today, Lincolnshire Lancaster Association Day and also the boss' last display with the RAF. There wasn't much time to get many photos but I snatched a few, mostly rubbish ones [:D]

The Lanc, Hurri and the MkXIX Spits. High crosswinds kept the baby Spitfires on the deck so the flypast was smaller than planned.
