Another view of the cockpit. With the seat removed we can easily see the control rods and cables from the primary flying controls. The cables (top and bottom) are the rudders, the top rod is the elevator control and the lower one is the ailerons. They transfer to cables just behind the bulkhead, in fact we can just see the aileron drum in the centre middle (covered in grease). You can also see that at the bottom of the pic the right hand floor panel has been removed, the cockpit 'floor' is actually the top of the undercarriage bay and a long way below where the pilot rests his feet (the two platforms). The seat usually sits over the control rods, where the elevator control rod bends, so with the seat removed it's important to watch where you stick your feet when climbing in and out. Not the greatest pictures ever, but they were taken in a spare few moments today between jobs so apologies for the quality (or lack thereof).
