ORIGINAL: Mike Solli Ok, I fixed that and the game opens, but it's showing version 24, not 26b. What I had done was to create another AE install and add the beta to that one. Does the shortcut itself need to be in the Beta 2 folder or the main folder? In the spirit of teaching to fish: The 'Target' is the executable you are starting. The 'Start in' is where the OS will tell Target that it is starting. If nothing is specified the default is where the program (aka Target) is located. Using AE as (a most relevant!) example, when not using the Beta the 'Start in' field is empty, so AE.exe (forgive the abbreviation) will start up and look for any files (or sub-folders) it wants in its own location. As you know the 3 pwhex files are located in the same place as AE.exe, and so it finds them. When running a Beta, the Target is located in a different place from the files and folders it wants to use, so we must "tell it" where to find them We do that by filling in the 'Start in' field in the shortcut. The answer to your question "Does the shortcut itself need to be in the Beta 2 folder or the main folder? ", provided I am interpreting the question correctly, is "anywhere you want". I keep my AE shortcuts inside a folder which sits on my desktop. The shortcut is meant to live anyplace you find convenient. The key is that, as explained above, each shortcut contains the information about where to find the program and where the program should find its files. That allows the shortcut to live anywhere you want.
