Platoon_Michael -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (1/6/2013 11:52:49 AM)

Can someone please explain how this works please?

The Fpools.txt file begins with two lines of global Force Pool Related Data, followed by a count of Force Pools, and then the Force Pool entires themselves.

Difficulty modifers effect the starting troop strength and replacement rates. The first column is weakest force / highest difficulty, the fifth is strongest force / lowest difficulty
Vehicle Replacement % Allies Troop Replace % Allies Vehicle Replacement % Axis Troop Replace % Axis

Each Force Pool enty has the following format:
FP Name (max 63) FP Class FP Side
Inf strength % Day 0 Inf % Day 1 Inf % Day 2 Inf % Day 3 Inf % Day 4 Inf % Day 5
Armor strength % Day 0 Arm % Day 1 Arm % Day 2 Arm % Day 3 Arm % Day 4 Arm % Day 5
UNIT COUNT
Unit name (max 63) Unit class (From UnitStructure.txt) The game will be generate an internal list of line units and a list of support units, with teams for each unit (str based on casualty % and difficulty)
RESERVED FIELD Just put 0
# SPACER / End of entry

Which part do you have a question on?

I don't get any of it,Sorry

savage188 -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (1/27/2013 10:26:01 PM)

I am new to the modding community and am just starting to understand how to do simple adjustments..however one thing I cannot figure out is how to change the number of units in the small BG's so that to fill the full 21 slots. I have seen it posted many times that changing the Fpool.txt file folder can accomplish this by adding more entries but everytime I try, I get an error message when trying to start up the game. Can someone please give me an example of what it looks like to add more entries or a step by step to complete the process. I would really apprecaite the help.

Platoon_Michael -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (2/13/2014 3:49:32 PM)

Does PiFT support the blowing of Bridges?

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (2/13/2014 4:57:48 PM)

I think it will work but it's not officially supported. The code for blowing bridges is still present but it received no testing as it was not part of Panthers in the Fog.

What are the limits from panthers of the fow at number of rows at each data file?

I do not go to ask it really but I can imagine that this game can load the older 16bits images from vehicles by example. I want make a simple but fun veteran mod as the continuation from my old Ardennes Offensive, the maps the strategic map from this game will be perfect.

Not sure what you mean by 'fow at number of rows'?

You can load the old 16-bit graphics.

Steve

Nomada_Firefox -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/25/2014 10:39:03 AM)

Sorry I made a mistake writting this. I was speaking the max number of rows from the game data.

Nomada_Firefox -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/25/2014 11:02:04 AM)

Ah one question more. Must I make the azp files as at panthers in the fog? or can I use without convert it a file from CCWAR?

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/25/2014 5:25:06 PM)

For best results I would take the CCMunger utility from Panthers in the Fog, use it to unpack your old files, and then repack them. This will add a little information that will tell Panthers these are old-format images (16 bit color).

Tanks and Guns.azp should work fine. Shadows should be okay too, though I will have to double check if the old sprite-shadow format is fully supported. You also won't have turret shadows unless you add those to the shadow file yourself.

EDIT: Forgot your original question! There isn't a maximum number of rows save for vehicles, which is 120 right now.

Steve

Nomada_Firefox -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/25/2014 8:50:22 PM)

I forgot ask you this, why the tga from azp they have a alpha channel? I´m familiarized with it at 3D games but at CC, I´m not sure about what is this.

Well I cross the limit by two vehicles. I wait that there is not a similar limit with weapons.

At the end, I confess that I´m editing panthers in the fog but I do not go to make a big work, I´m more interested at your CC 3D and I will save my strength for it. I hope that you finish it this year or at least show us a picture, if I can see a preview, I wait easier more time.[:D]

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/26/2014 5:04:50 PM)

There is no limit on the number of rows you can have in weapons.txt.

Panthers in the Fog graphics use the alpha channel for transparency. One of the benefits of going to 32 bit graphics, as opposed to the old 16-bit where transparency required separate masks and a lot of pixel twiddling in code.

Steve

Nomada_Firefox -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/26/2014 10:11:31 PM)

Thanks by the answer. I have one small question which perhaps you can answer. What is the reason from this error, I do not understand it.
quote:

Vehicle 6, has ammo it can not fire, mount 0, gun 0, ammo 3.

Tejszd -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/27/2014 1:32:02 AM)

The error messages in the re-releases are very helpful for mod makers and tend to be pretty clear.
Vehicle 6 has ammo defined which it can not fire. Check mount # and gun # ammo.

Nomada_Firefox -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/27/2014 7:52:56 AM)

quote:

Vehicle 6, has ammo it can not fire, mount 0, gun 0, ammo 3.

Yes it can helps but I have checked and I do not see the problem.

Other question, how you copy the data from the workbook to the txt files. Just copy and paste? sorry but I have been out the CC game for years and I do not remember everything.[;)]

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/27/2014 6:48:23 PM)

That error means that in vehicles.txt, vehicle class 6 has ammo assigned to one of it's weapons, and in weapons.txt that weapon has a fire mode of 'none' (meaning it cannot fire that type of ammo). In this case mount 0, gun 0 is the first hull weapon. Ammo type 3 is smoke ammo. Just set the smoke ammo column for that weapon to 0 (should be column 'N' in Excel).

And yes, I just cut & paste the data values out of Excel (don't forget the count of entries at the top) into a text file and save it.

Steve

Nomada_Firefox -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (3/28/2014 8:01:05 AM)

Thanks by the tip. It will help me a lot for fix the imported code.

I wait that my questions do not take you too many time from to work at Close Combat – The Bloody First. I have announced the game at all my sites, I wait that you publish one screenshot, even the main screen, just for a better show to the people. I hope this new game will attract to many new players, specially if we can make new maps and if we replace the 3D models, it would be awesome. Just imagine how many people can buy it if the game can be edited for other war or era.

Thanks. Regards.

DAK_Legion -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (4/8/2014 2:40:06 AM)

Are there any limits IN SOLDIERS.TXT max number 127??

In alteams/soldier list put RANGE 0-127 but in soldiers.txt put RANGE 0-32767

Thanks in advance steve and sorryformy english

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (4/8/2014 9:13:57 PM)

Hi DAK_Legion,

The limit of entries in the soldiers file is 32768 entries (0 to 32767). The only data file with meaningful limit is the vehicles file (120).

Steve

DAK_Legion -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (4/9/2014 8:04:43 PM)

But the limit of 120 vehicles it´s very bad for this community steve:(

Make no sense have 30000 diferents soldiers and only 120 vehicles

It´s possible can change this limit?..maybe in a future patch???

Getaway to Caen also has this limit????

Thanks

SteveMcClaire -> RE: Close Combat Panthers in the Fog Data Workbook (4/11/2014 3:13:59 PM)

Yes, it will be changed. Gateway to Caen will have the change, as well as any future Panthers update.

Steve
