When I got home last night I did do the check. It shows that the P-38G, with drop tanks, still carries 2 x 500 pounders. So my original question holds - why am I not getting any hits? This is not a one-mission failure. I have been running many missions, from several different bases.

If you bomb from 6000ft or higher your fighter pilots need grd skill for bombing, if you bomb lower than 6000ft they need lowgrd for bombing. You got fighter pilots with such skill? [X(]

I don't think those numbers are true anymore, having changed at some point in the Betas. I need to double check before I post any numbers myself.

I have not heard this. Let us know what you find out. I may have been misleading myself.

I am not familiar with the betas, am using the latest official patch so all my statements always base on the official patch.

I know the 6000 ft threshold for transitioning from "low" to "normal" was originally the case, but I suspect it has been changed since it seems you can only train "low" skils, either ground or naval at 1000 ft. When I train at 3000 ft. "low" skills don't gain, the normal ones do.

Castor,

Yes, I do have fighter pilots trained up to 70+ skill in low level bombing. I start a training squadron at the beginning of the war with an eye towards the P-38's down the road. In the past these ave been highly effective, including using drop tanks. I am now in a DaBabes scenario and this is the first time I have seen such ineffective missions.

I've been away from the game for a long time, so am not familiar with database changes anymore. But it might be possible your fighters have switched to using a new bomb type with very low accuracy or something. Perhaps they may even be dropping armor piercing bombs instead of high explosives now due to a database change made in the mod that never accounted for fighters used in HE bomb roles.

Jim
