So is Piercing Fortress Europa not very good, then? I see no buzz about the sale, and the forum for the game seems fairly dead. Its been hard for me to find much solid info about this game and its current state.

It's actually a clean game, easy to get into with simple straightforward graphics.

Hi guys,

This AAR may help:

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3557299

Given that the game gives you the freedom to make different choices than the historical on amphibious/airborne invasions, there are actually more options for maneuver and strategy than you might think.

Regards,

- Erik

Thanks for the link, Erik! [:)]

This week's deal "Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager" makes it's debut on the Deal of the Week [:)]! There is alot of great content in this game/simulation and it is also available on Steam! Happy Gaming Everyone!

Patrick

PS. I am grateful for the deals here every week but what happened to the 50% off discount? I'm sure it would help sales...there is alot of competition out there.

Ranger33 -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (3/16/2015 11:19:47 PM)

I bought the iPad version of BASPM and found it to be much more engrossing than I expected. It is mostly just managing numbers and trying to optimize your progress through the space race, but some real strategic thinking is certainly required to accomplish that. Also I have really enjoyed the educational aspect of the game, I'm 27 years old so I only grew up learning about the topic from the movie Apollo 13 [:D]

On that point, does anyone know of a good book covering the space race. It's such an exciting period in history, and one that shows humanity at its best, I'd love to dig into it.

This weeks's deal "Qvadriga" makes it's debut on the Deal of the Week! [:)] This game has alot of depth. It is historical, has role-playing elements, is tactical, with simulation elements...to me it is a must buy...if you like the ancients genre. Happy Gaming Everyone!

Patrick

SteveD64 -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (3/24/2015 3:59:03 PM)

How much for the Ipad/Android sale version of Qvadriga? 10 dollars or 5 dollars?

Never mind

Hertston -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (3/28/2015 10:27:21 AM)

Qvadriga works very well on a tablet. One of my favourite games on android together with the Frozen Synapse titles.

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (3/29/2015 12:43:20 AM)

Well it is absolutely horrible on an Android phone. A huge disappointment.

I think most war/strategy games played on a small screen (device) are not going to play very well. [:(]

Patrick

Missouri_Rebel -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (3/29/2015 3:32:15 PM)

I play several games on my phone. It's a Note 4 that has one of the largest screens on the market. The problem is that the icons at the top are too close to the edge so one cannot simply use their finger to click on them. Luckily it comes with the S Pen, a functional stylus that I can use to click on the miniscule buttons located too far to the top. But once again, the game is not optimized because that same S Pen cannot be used to select my in race actions. It is the first of anything where the S Pen does not work on my phone. That is just lazy.

Also, knowing it was going to tablet/phone, they should have done something to increase the font and text area. It is absolutely way too small. There was plenty of room for it. Lazy.

Like I said, I have many games that work great on my Note. Those developers did more than just got it working on the android. They actually put some effort into making their system compatible with the new platform.

I have Qvadriga on the computer, and while it is a good game there, imo this was just a lazy, effortless release and Ill be asking for a refund.

This weeks's deal "Drums of War" makes it's debut on the Deal of the Week! [:)] It is a Fantasy turn-based tactical strategy game with a great combat system and interactive environment. It has a game editor that lets you create custom campaigns, as a series of linked battles, with story text and customized rewards. You can save these campaigns a single file in order to easily share them. If you like the Fantasy genre this is a must buy! Happy Gaming Everyone!

Safe to assume there is no Deal of the Week with the 30% off coupon we all received for the weekend?

wings7 -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (4/6/2015 4:49:13 PM)

It looks that way, although they could sneak one in in the middle of the week.

wings7 -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (4/13/2015 12:35:14 PM)

This weeks deal "Birth of Rome" makes it's debut on the Deal of the Week! [:)] This is the standalone expansion pack for "Alea Jacta Est" and covers the important and epic wars that led the Roman republic to unify Italy. If you like Ancients and the offerings from the developer AGEOD this is a must buy! Happy Gaming Everyone!

Patrick

salazarus -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (4/13/2015 12:51:47 PM)

"Birth of Rome" is a great place to start with AGEOD's system. In my opinion it is, along with "Alea Jacta Est", the best game from AGEOD's.

I agree!

Nimrod 9th -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (4/14/2015 11:03:02 PM)

Considering making the purchase but confused. if I buy the boxed addition is Birth of Rome a stand alone or do I need to own Alez Jacta Est too? In other words is Birth of Rome an expansion of Alez Jacta Est or a stand a lone game?

Ranger33 -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (4/14/2015 11:53:41 PM)

It's standalone. You can merge the two together if you have both, but you can play one without the other.

Note that some (all?) of the other expansions require Alea Jacta Est to work. Also, AJE can be activated on Steam while Birth of Rome cannot. Anyone know if this is deliberate or just an oversight?

I echo the comments about this being a good entry point for the AGEOD games. Much easier to wrap your head around than the others.

It's standalone at Matrix, Steam version is a DLC to Alea Iacta Est. I think now all scenarios are compatible with all games from that series.

wings7 -> RE: Deal of the Week...great deals! (4/20/2015 3:50:08 PM)

This week's deal "Battlefront" makes it's second appearance on the Deal of the Week! [:)] This classic from SSG won the "Award for Excellence" from the Wargamer when it was released! Need I say more? (the download edition is 60% off!) Happy Gaming Everyone!

This week's deal "Scourge of War: Chancellorsville" makes it's debut on Deal of the Week! [:)] This is a stand-alone release which requires no other titles, but can also be installed as an expansion for Scourge of War series. This is one of the best tactical Civil War games on the market today, IMHO. Happy Gaming Everyone!

I had heard this game was pretty buggy at one time. Does anyone know if they cleaned it up enough to make it worth the purchase? Always looking for a good Napoleonic game.
