Spring 1968 Any possibility of manned lunar landing is far...very far, in both sides. No money no honey. The desertions between astronauts are increasing; Stafford, Borman, Gordon, Anders, Schweickart.... With such amount of abandons is necessary recruit the Group IV in spite the few budget. Other money was spent researching the Apollo to first flight. In the URSS no bad news this season so the only fail was in the Luna probe and no Luna Probes to future missions. Belyayev announced retirement as ordered by the Kremlin. Excessive use of vodka I guess. The soviets, with slightly more budget as USA had good omens to a future lunar mission because they had almost done the development of the N1 Rocket. Both sides make a attempt to reach orbit with a three person capsule this season. -May 1968: Launching of the Soyuz I, with the cosmonauts Gorbatko, Rukavishnikov and Kubasov, the first manned three person capsule in orbit in Human History. Besides, the missions was a simple duration A to testing ship. The first part of the mission was done without notice but, once again, ignoring the 83% safety of the Soyuz, the program decides killing the crew during descent with a total parachute failure. This mark the end of the URSS space program. -May 1968: The USA launch the Apollo II with Cunningham, Aldrin and Gordon aboard. Hopefully, the rocket denies to flight. Negative ignition, rocket shuts down safely and the craft is evacuated safely. Another great season in BARIS.
