ussdefiant -> Pirate Civvie Wierdness (5/24/2013 6:56:27 AM)

Yello, i've been taking a swing at a couple of Pirate Shadows games now that the new expansions' out, and i've been noticing a couple of REALLY weird behaviours out of pirate Civilian ships.

1)I'm constantly getting suggestions to build new ships, and when i click on the box, i see no ships offered to be built. Possibly due to civvie ships being built directly by Pirate players but not being in the Build Order Box?

2)Any ships that i do build manually from my spaceport do absolutely NOTHING. My starting set of 1 x Gas/Miner ships and 2 x Small Freighters try to tend to all my mining stations/any smuggling missions i pick up, but new-build civvie ships of mine do absolutely nada. Even if i start off building 6 x Gas/Mining ships, who in my base game experience ALWAYS try to mine something, they sit around and do nothing even 6 months after being built. Maybe they're not being properly added to the civship control code or something? I'll note that constant difficulties getting a proper income has prevented me from checking if a save/reload fixes this.

Edit: Oh yes, and i'm set so that all ships i build are automated, and the problem civvies DO have the automation icon in their box when i look at them in the ship list.

3) For some reason when i'm playing as a Balanced pirate, any civvie ships i build start with 0 fuel in them, even with plenty of fuel in the spaceport. I've seen civvies being built with fuel as a Smuggler pirate, although i'll note item 2 still applies. I haven't tried playing the other styles of Pirate yet.

Hi HMSImperator

Point #1 we'll be looking at in an update soon. But that won't be due to the reason you suggested - it's just that pirate income can be so variable.

Haven't seen the problems you encountered with #2 or #3, but feel free to upload a savegame for me to look at.

Thanks
Elliot

As I posted in another thread, I can confirm #2. Just let me know where to upload a save file.

#1 is also a problem, but it seems you don't need confirmation for that one.

I haven't paid enough attention to note #3.

Spacecadet -> RE: Pirate Civvie Wierdness (5/24/2013 3:43:10 PM)

#2 I can think of a few things for this behavior.
Generally when a new ship is built it will sit around for a little while as it's Shields charge up.
The next possibility could be that things haven't been explored to the point that they can do anything yet.
Another could be that there's just not enough work for them at this point in the game.

#3 The fuel needs to be in the Cargo of the Spaceport (not the fuel bar, that's the Spaceports own fuel).
Which type of fuel do you need, Caslon or Hydrogen - this is the supply you need to check in your Cargo holds.

It could still be a bug, but I'd look into these first.

Raap -> RE: Pirate Civvie Wierdness (5/24/2013 6:47:50 PM)

I can confirm #2, but it seems to be somewhat random( or not...). I build ships and they don't get any fuel( there's plenty in the base), they just sit outside the space station. However, it doesn't appear to happen with all my civilian ships; it happened to my mining ships, but not my gas mining ships. And it's not a problem with a lack of work; my previous, starting mining ships are all running around normally.

The one thing these malfunctioning ships have in common is that I've modified them myself, but that's also true for the gas mining ships that work normally. And there's nothing wrong with the design itself.

*edit*

Strange. I just reloaded and then re-saved my game in preparation for uploading it, and the ships suddenly decided to go get fuel. After that they worked normally. There's still obviously a bug here somewhere, because I always had > 10k caslon in storage. Somehow they were prevented from getting fuel when construction was finished, and didn't retry the order until I reloaded. So reloading fixes this, but it's still rather annoying.

Confirming same situation. Freighters were sitting idle with zero fuel for a long while during the game, but suddenly "woke up" when game loaded.
