larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (7/7/2013 11:12:10 AM)

This is the Riga situation. As you can see there's a lot of Soviet stuff in garrison mode and it's stuck where it is and I'm handicapped
about what I can do to pull back and make road blocks. All things considered, I'm pretty happy w/ the performance of the Soviet stuff
so far. Most of the time the Axis will just RBC my stacks enough times to evaporate all the units but some of the time the Soviet unit(s)
will stand there and take it w/o retreating. I guess the Axis stuff is getting tired already.

Here's a picture from one of those KeyHole spy satallites of the Minsk area. The Axis is pressing to the east and the Soviets are
running roadblocks westward as the front line approaches Moscow slowly.

Here's a close up of the south area. Elmer doesn't seem to know about the slash and dash of armour versus the slow plodding INF.
I mean he's keeping them together rather than use the advantages of each. I may win this thing yet.

'Onkel Larry'; if you want to tweak it further, I might even comntinue to modify my well liked (at least from my Beta-Testers) Ostfront modified .eqp file.

Hey there Klink dude. Um......I appreciate the offer but I'm just a beginner scenario designer. I don't have the first clue how to re-do
the OOB to use an equipment file. I have an idea: why don't you do the OOB for this scenario and I'll test it. Sounds like a good idea
to do it anyway, whichever of us does it.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (7/7/2013 2:07:15 PM)

Here's a shot of the Lapland area in T4. So far the 23rd Army is holding it's own against the Finns. I wish I could say the same about
the rest of the Leningrad defense.

T6's front lines. I'm starting to get organized. Moscow has a really good defensive line so I'm not too worried about Moscow now.

Larry:

I apologize. I have been reading and enjoying your AAR, but have not taken the time to thank you. THANK YOU!

I am sure a lot of work has gone into your reports and my failure to thank you is inexcusable.

I have taken to playing the game as the Axis and while I have advanced close to where you have on each turn, I find that my units are more likely in an orange state of readiness (or rather lack of readiness) much more often than your units. I just can't seem to find enough better prepared units to use. I have tried to keep the rail net up with the front lines and will rest units with their corresponding HQ, but it seems to take quite some time for them to regain readiness.

I will keep plugging away.

Again thanks

TomC

Thanks for taking the time tcarusil dude. I appreciate you're saying so. Keeps me going when I'm tired.

Actually I usually just do a screengrab and then crop and annotate it and save it as a file and it's not always all that much work.

I try to not move a unit if it's 49% supply or less so that most of the time the units will be on the edge between green and yellow. Your
mileage may vary. Are you using all the units that can repair a rail? As I recall, the RR engineers were added to the AAA units, the
HQ units, the engineer units and maybe somebody else that I can't remember right now. Look for easter eggs.

I'd love to keep up w/ your progress.

"... Elmer doesn't seem to know about the slash and dash of armour versus the slow plodding INF..."

Yes very true. AI's usually have trouble with combined operations, say armour/mech forces/ inf and para's... that's just too much for the "operational awareness" the AI has.

Hey Klink dude, good news. Steve Sill has found a problemo in his scenario and the playtesting has come to a halt awaiting a new
version of the scenario so I have some time to spend adjusting and adapting. If you would be so kind may I have a copy of your new
east front equipment file? If you would just send me a copy at fulkersonlarry60(at)gmail(dot)com. Thanks ahead of time. I'll see what
I can do with it to equip the scenario file I'm working on.

On it's way Onkel Larry. NOTE: I only adjusted most Rfl Sqds and you HAVE to be aware that there will be mismatches. If ye'ole warhorse Steve, whom I know personally, is going through the .OOB, I better hook up with him too, aye?

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (7/10/2013 7:25:15 AM)

Thanks Wilheim dude for the file. I have loaded up two instances of the equipment editor one w/ MY equipment file and one w/ the
Kharkov '43 equipment file. I got this far and realized I have no clue what to do next. Anybody have a suggestion?

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (7/10/2013 11:02:01 AM)

So um........hey you guys. Colonel Klink twisted my arm and convinced me to playtest his Kharkov '43 scenario instead of continuing w/ this AAR.

I'm satisfied, so far, w/ the Soviet performance in that they are sufficiently far forward that the Axis will take longer to obtain their goals if they obtain
them at all. The Soviet playthrough will have to be done at some future date.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (7/11/2013 1:12:08 AM)

I decided to play this scenario from the point of view of the Axis again. My strategy is to do a broad front and try to encircle them by parts
a little at a time concentrating on the forces instead of the objectives. Here's the overall plan:

Here's a closeup of the NW corner of the front lines and some rather realistic goals for the broad front I'm going to build. Let's see how
I do:

Here's my moves for the above pictured area. I made the goal for the turn no problem and I don't see many problems attaining the goal
for T2 yet.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (7/11/2013 10:22:30 AM)

Here's the front lines from the beginning of Axis turn 2: There are areas where I can't see any Soviet troops so I need to get my recon
assets out in front and get them to snooping around. The divisions will follow closely behind so they can rescue the recon should they
get into trouble. And we'll press the front line further as it becomes possible. I'm going to try to flow like water using the path of least
restance. We'll see how well it works.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Barbarosa 41 revised (7/11/2013 10:43:46 AM)

I was busy moving units and pretty soon I came to the 667th Engineers and how it just now laid the last spike on the repaired rail that
reaches to the front lines already in T2. I'm pretty sure I can keep up w/ the front lines in this area. At least for the time being. The
progress has been more sucessfull further south and I may have to transfer some of the rail repair assets I have to help out at least
on a temporary basis.

I captured the city of Minsk in T2. That causes the Soviet production to decrease by 10%.
