Hi Nick, would be great if you could post some more info on these, incl web links. Saves us a ton of time on research. Thanks! [8D]

I'd really like to, but because I'm a new user the forum software isn't letting me post links... The Wikipedia article on these patrol boats is very comprehensive, and (possibly more usefully) includes links to the manufacturer's summary of the patrol boats specifications and data on them in the various guides to warships. I think that all 22 are still active (and have been recently refitted), so recent editions of Jane's Fighting Ships and the like will also have data on their individual configurations.

Does this mean you also added the other things to the F-35 that currently aren't in the DB (the LRASM, JSM, AARGM, SDB, SDB II, WCMD, etc.)? Not to be pushy, but I would be greatly appreciative if the F-35s could get their armament list completed [&o]

Also noticed something with ROK FA-50, the real thing is AMRAAM and WCMD capable but not in the DB

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KAI_T-50_Golden_Eagle

Okay I'll give the F-35 another workover. But please note that not all variants will carry all weapon types. I'm not even sure if the type will carry AARGM and SDB initially. SDB II integration will take place after 2018 or whatever, and if I remember correctly, WCMD was stricken from the list.

I'd be really surprised if they actually arm the FA-50 with AMRAAMs and all those other munitions. Perhaps they'll go for three or four weapon types but not all. Would really appreciate more photos [8D]

Thanks, looked at the boats in Wikipedia and there is a whole bunch of smaller nations operating these (some I don't even think I've heard of before hehe). May I ask exactly which countries you need these boats for, so that I can add those?

Papua New Guinea, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Solomon Islands, Tonga and Fiji (in that order of priority) would be great.

From memory, the Solomon Islands' boats were involved in the domestic fighting which took place in the mid-2000s. PNG may have also used their Pacific-class boats in combat during the long-running insurgency on Bougainville island.

Thanks okay I'll take a look [8D]

Additional link from source stating that F-35s will use AARGM

http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/agm-88e-advanced-anti-radiation-guided-missile-aargm/

quote:

The missile has a length of 417cm, diameter of 25.4cm and a wingspan of 112cm. The weight of the missile is 361kg. It can intercept targets within the range of 60+ nm while travelling at a speed of Mach 2+.

The AARGM can be integrated on the FA-18 C/D, FA-18 E/F, EA-18 G, and Tornado ECR aircraft. It is also compatible with the F-35, EA-6B, and F-16 aircraft.

Will continue to find sources for other stuff

Additional Link for SDB II integration (specifically fit check(sadly no dates of integration [:(]))

http://raytheon.mediaroom.com/index.php?item=2260

quote:

"Completion of the fit check is critical because it further validates SDB II's compatibility with the F-35 and keeps SDB II on track for a smooth transition to production," said Harry Schulte, Raytheon Missile Systems' vice president of Air Warfare Systems. "Once fielded, SDB II will provide the warfighter with an unprecedented capability to precisely strike moving targets in adverse weather conditions and through battlefield obscurants."

SDB II is designed to be carried by a host of 4th- and 5th-generation aircraft, including the U.S. Air Force F-15E; the U.S. Marine Corps variant of the Joint Strike Fighter, F-35B; and the U.S. Navy F-35C. The GBU-53/B is also compatible with the Air Force F-35A, F/A-22 and F-16C/D, as well as the Navy F/A-18E/F.

"compatible with" doesn't necessarily mean "will use". (e.g. AGM-86B on B-1B)

SuaveWatermelon -> RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues? (2/21/2014 3:19:10 PM)

Just to put things in context IOC dates for the respective F-35 Variants are

Late 2015 for USMC (F-35B)

Late 2016 for USAF (F-35A)

Early 2019 for USN (F-35C)

From the FAQs on the official Lockheed Martin Site

https://www.f35.com/resources/faqs/P10

quote:

Based on the current F-35 Joint Program Office schedule, the F-35A will reach the initial operational capability (IOC) milestone by December 2016; the F-35B will reach the IOC milestone by December 2015; and the F-35C will reach the IOC milestone by February 2019.

Well considering that this platform isn't in service yet, we have no way of knowing what it will operationally use at this time.

However, if the Gripen NG (a plane that hasn't even been designed yet) is going to get its full weapons complement then i see no reason why the F-35 shouldn't get some of its projected weapons (depending how long this game lasts as the premier Naval Wargame things like this will probably need to be regularly updated anyways if accuracy is to be maintained)

Understood. But for the Gripen NG we've also played it safe and only added the stuff that we know for certain it will carry. Adding too many options now and then delete them later on is a real pain because those loadouts may have been used in a scenario....

SuaveWatermelon -> RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues? (2/21/2014 5:37:24 PM)

Howdy

Fair enough, that makes sense. Still though, difficult to make future scenarios when certain capabilities are completely missing from platforms. But i guess playing it safe makes more sense from a development stance. I know you guys said you wouldn't, but this is part of the reason why some sort of Aircraft editor would be perfect. But you guys already have your plate full making this the best wargame ever so i understand why it is a difficult thing to address.

SuaveWatermelon -> RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues? (2/21/2014 5:41:23 PM)

BTW

Since you said that WCMD was canceled as a requirement for the F-35 then you might want to consider removing it from the F-35As armaments list

quote:

and if I remember correctly, WCMD was stricken from the list.

I'd like to make a loadout editor where the scen designer can create custom loadouts or edit/delete existing loadouts much the same way he can now add/edit/remove mounts from ships/subs/facilities. But this is far down on my priority list. Have to build the strike mission editor first, amongst other things [:D]

Yeah will double-check. In any case the WCMD is an Air Force-only weapon.

NakedWeasel -> RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues? (2/21/2014 10:17:35 PM)

I'm currently working on a Cold War era NATO vs PACT scenario, and I would like my Royal Danish Air Force Vikings to be better equipped to hold the line...

I have been doing a fair bit of research and have discovered that the RDAF J-35XDs were quite a bit more capable than the standard Drakens. According to many websites, they had a greater internal fuel capacity, 10 hardpoints (8 on the wings, 2 under the fuselage) and the ability to carry the AGM-12 Bullpup missile. The inner three hardpoints on either wing were rated to 1000lbs, and could of course also be loaded with various size fuel tanks for even greater range. The outer pylons seemed to be typically loaded with AIM-9. Nearly all pics I've seen with Bullpup show a mixed load of 2xAGM-12, 2x500lb, 2x1000lb.

I humbly request some slight changes made to the RDAF J-35XD. Please, and thank you...

*I am somewhat ashamed and embarrassed to admit, that I could not actually find any real photos of the J-35XD with Bullpups loaded. I did find this model-maker's excellent website of a Danish Draken, http://modelingmadness.com/review/mod/sweden/plesdraken.htm and there's multiple mentions of AGM-12 capability on Danish Drakens. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_35_Draken , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-12_Bullpup , http://www.globalaircraft.org/planes/saab_35_draken.pl , http://www.fighter-planes.com/info/j35.htm

mx1 -> RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues? (2/22/2014 10:51:44 AM)

While working on my scenario I've noticed bug with unit #496 - SAM Grp SA-5c Gammon, Poland. While I can remove and add weapon mounts other than SA-5c Gammon, I can not remove SA-5c Gammon Single Rail from the unit. When I click on "remove weapon mount" nothing happens. I've tried various other SAM units and have not noticed such behavior. I don't know if this is DB bug or engine bug but I'd like to report it.

mikmykWS -> RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues? (2/22/2014 1:24:13 PM)

Its a dialog refresh issue. Remove it and then leave the weapons dialog and then jump back in and you'll notice its gone. I've got this one on my list.

Let me know if this isn't actually the case though!

Mike

ComDev -> RE: Stickied thread for minor database issues? (2/22/2014 1:56:35 PM)

Okay have made various updates, incl adding Norwegian F-35 with JSM, AGM-88E AARGM on Italian Tornadoes (only F/A-18C/D/E/G, EA-18G and Italian Tornadoes carries this weapon), updated IOC dates for the F-35, etc.

Hmmmmmm okay took a look in the database and the F-35XD should already be according to your wishes?

The Danish 1977-1982 version is armed with the AGM-12 Bullpup, and it can be armed with 6x 1000lb weapons (the Swedish version can not), etc. The 1986 version of the plane does not carry Bullpups because the weapons were phased out in the early 1980s. I found that I had accidently forgotten to add some of the bomb loadouts to the 1986 version, though.

So have made some mods:

- Added 1983 version of the plane which is a 1977 version without the AGM-12.
- Added AIM-9 Std CAP, short-range Mk82 and heavy (6x bomb) Mk83 loadouts to 1986 version which I accidently had left out (doh!)
- Added super-heavy AGM-12 + iron bombs loadout, although not entirely sure it would have been carried operationally, and added it to the 1977 version of the plane only.

Fair?

Low Priority, but adding the P-8A Poseidon to Australia post 2017 would be in order I think : )

its been on the back burner for a little while, but we just confirmed purchase of 8 of them, to be delivered in 2017 through to 2021.

there is also discussion about the aussie ones getting their own upgrades but nothing concrete on that yet. probably not likely to be for some time, either.

Thanks again!
