I see none Sea King variant is equipped with sonobuoys !!!!!

Certainly the Royal Navy HAS 5 and HAS 6 should have Lofar bouys at the very least and probably the option for DIFAR

Please can you add the following to the Nimrod MR 2.

DIFAR Buoys alongside LOFAR until DICASS replaced both in the late 90's
BARRA Buoys (same as the AP-3 - joint development with the Australians - they got CAMBS out of the deal)
AN/SSQ-47 (we called them Ranger Buoys) - until they get withdrawn (carrying them with CAMBS was a cost saving measure - dropping a CAMBS was a 10k+ cost per buoy!!)

Have made various changes here, please take a look at let me know what you think [8D]

As a hypothetical, you could include the proposed MiG-23-98:

From the wiki article:

quote:

MiG-23-98 In the late 1990s, Mikoyan, following their successful MiG-21 upgrade projects, offered an upgrade which featured new radar, new self-defense suite, new avionics, improved cockpit ergonomics, helmet-mounted sight, and the capability to fire Vympel R-27 (NATO: AA-10 "Alamo") and Vympel R-77 (NATO: AA-12 "Adder") missiles. The projected cost was around US$1 million per aircraft.

(Russian language) detailed information here: MiG-23-98

To finish the scenario I'm working on covering a contemporary South African-Zimbabwe conflict, I'd like to request the following units:

BAE Hawk 120 trainer (similar to the Australian Hawk 127 variant but with different weapons and a recon pod)
*http://www. af.mil.za/equip/aircraft/Hawk.htm
*http://www. saairforce.co.za/the-airforce/aircraft/40/hawk-mk-120

Saab Gripen C (I'm not sure what the exact differences between the South African and Swedish variants are to be honest, but the SAAF doesn't use AIM-120s and is intending to eventually replace the IRIS-Ts with domestically-developed Denel A Darters)

Also, the SAAF's Turbo Dakotas appear to still be in service, and have ELINT equipment of some sort (the database currently shows them as being retired and equipped only with a FLIR):

Request for Iranian P-3F Orion with AGM-84A Harpoon .

According to Air forces Monthly 2014-01 magazine : The IIAF asked Lockheed to modify the aircraft
to carry AGM-85A Harpoon air-to-surface missiles,and a contract was signed in 1978. P-3F (5-8702,
c/n 6002) was sent back to Lockheed’s facility at Marietta and fitted with the AN/AWG-19 Harpoon
aircraft command and launch system. It returned just before the 1979 Islamic revolution and 18 AGM-85A missiles were delivered.

Thanks,

Israeli F-35s to use Spice bomb kits

Israel will equip its future Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighters with an advanced version of Rafael's Spice bomb guidance kit, with the system having been improved to allow its use through a variety of attack techniques.

Based on lessons learned from 2012's combat involvement in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli air force is deploying the enhanced Spice kit with its Boeing F-15 and Lockheed F-16 combat aircraft. The Rafael-developed guidance kit is now a main system in the service's inventory, and has also been exported to a number of other air forces.

The Spice kit can be loaded with 100 optional targets in a given area, which can be checked against its imaging infrared/TV sensor, and has a reported circular error of probability of less than 3m (10ft).

A basic version is used on 908kg (2,000lb) Mk 84-series bombs, with a wing kit giving the weapon a range of more than 60km (32nm). It has also been adapted to 454kg Mk 83 bombs to offer a strike capability from more than 100km range.

Rafael has also adapted the design for use with 113kg bombs, with this enabling an F-16 to carry up to 16 small smart bombs.

Grounds to add an Israeli entry for the F-35? I've heard that they are getting their own special version designated the F-35I "Adir" (So say the good folks on F-16.net)

No there is no any official record about air launched harpoon by IRAF, but the report from AF magazine was also interesting for me.Base on that article a contract was signed for all 6 P-3F but only one completely upgrade to Update-II and Harpoon system , However let us to launch Harpoon from it by CMANO!

Rafael is proceeding with the adaptation of the Spice 1000 Electro-Optically, Stand-Off guided weapon as part of its roadmap to carry this family of weapons into the future. “The Israel Air Force will be able to operate the F-35s with Spice 1000 soon after these fighter jets arrive in Israel later in the decade” a source in RAFAEL told Defense-Update. The aircraft will be able to carry the weapon in either internal or external configuration.

G'day! another low priority request...

adding the IAI Heron for Australia, from 2010 onwards.

also, I note that the KC-30A in the DB at present only has probe and drogue refuelling - the aircraft will be rated for centerline boom refuelling this year also. http://australianaviation.com.au/2013/05/improvements-heading-kc-30a-towards-foc/

much appreciated!

EDIT: It has also come to my attention that the S-70B-2 in the DB for australia loads the MU-90 Impact torpedo. this was originally planned but due to cost our sea hawks actually use the Mk. 46 torpedo and are not equipped to carry the MU-90.

Additionally, they are usually deployed with a 7.62mm door mounted machine gun, but I think this has been omitted. just a heads up!

Russia to Field Air-Launched Missiles for T-50 by 2014 | DefenseRussia will complete development of advanced tactical air-launched missile systems for the Sukhoi T-50 fifth-generation fighter within the next two years, the head of the Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV), Boris Obnosov, told RIA Novosti.“The development of Kh-35UE (AS-20 Kayak), Kh-38ME, Kh-58UShKE (AS-11 Kilter), and RVV-MD (AA-11 Archer) class missiles will be completed in 2012-2013,” Obnosov said, adding the missiles were currently being tested.By the time the T-50 fighter enters service with the Russian Air Force in 2014, its missile systems will be fully operational, Obnosov said. Some of the missiles intended for the fighters – such as Kh-31PD (AS-17 Mod 2) class missiles – have already been tested using Sukhoi Su-34 (Fullback) fourth-generation strike aircraft and put into serial production, he added.According to KTRV, the Kh-35UE tactical anti-ship missile has a maximum range of 260 kilometers; the supersonic Kh-31PD anti-radiation missile for use against air defense systems, can fly up to 250 kilometers; the Kh-58UShKE missile, designed to destroy pulse radars, can hit targets within 245 kilometers, and the short-range RVV-MD air-to-air missile has a maximum range of 40 kilometers. The T-50, developed under the PAK FA (Future Aviation System for Tactical Air Force) program by the Sukhoi OKB, is Russia's first new major warplane designed since the fall of the Soviet Union. The jet made its maiden flight in January 2011 and two prototypes have since been undergoing flight tests. The T-50 fifth-generation fighter

Request for Iran Air Force Mirage F.1EQs,

The Iranians found the 24 Mirage F.1EQs delivered to them by Iraqi pilots in 1991 in 'brand new' condition, all newly refurbished and brought to the standard F.1EQ-6. Consequently, the IRIAF - after some evaluation and training of needed crews - pushed its new Mirages into service from 1993. A French offer for 50 additional Mirage F.1CTs and 1.000 R.550 Magic Mk.II and Super 530D missiles - issued in 2002 - was turned down, however.

Mgellis -> RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues (2/28/2014 1:44:02 AM)

Suggestions for both the CWDB and the DB3000. These will probably be fairly easy to add, so I hope they can be added sooner rather than later…

High Value Target (Group) (Generic) <-- this is basically an unarmed group of people on foot. It can probably be modeled using the data for an infantry platoon, but taking out the weapons, radios, etc. (I suggested “Civilians” earlier, but this would be even more general; one could use it to represent ANY group of unarmed individuals, even a herd of sheep, if one wanted. Hey, it’s high-value to the guy who owns the sheep!) This would allow for refugees, hostages, zoo animals, etc. All you have to do is set the name with the "r" command.

High Value Target (Individual) (Generic) <-- Just use the downed pilot, but take out the radio. This allows one to represent high value unarmed individual targets on foot who really is on his own or dependent on others for protection. They can be good guys (VIPs, etc.) who need to be protected or bad guys (terrorists, drug lords, etc.) who need to be taken out. All you have to do is set the name with the "r" command.

Hello,

God I hope I am in the right thread.

I have a MAD question about Il-38. What would be (or maybe still is?) its max. MAD detection range. I have had several successful detections from 610m, can they do that? The scenario where this occurs is "Red episodes-Boomer to the sea", so I hope it's not just mission specific. Also, the detected subs were around -250m (give or take 30m because of varying sea bottom) [:)].
In the unit description dialog does 1nm represent just the area (circle around the plane) or is depth also included?

Best regards,

Mike

Dimitris -> RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues (2/28/2014 9:46:15 AM)

The latter; sensors perform their detection checks using slant ranges rather than simply horizontal.

OysterMike -> RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues (2/28/2014 10:04:05 AM)

Thanks for quick response and enlightenment about MAD range [&o]. Been trying to figure this out ever since I started this damn mission.

Need a little advice though [:)], what would be the recommended altitude to fly ASW, MAD capable planes such as IL-38 or Orion?

Dimitris -> RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues (2/28/2014 10:15:14 AM)

ASW aircraft fitted with MAD almost never use it as a search sensor. Almost always you search by other means (usually sonobuoys, dipping sonar or radar) and then use MAD on a low-as-possible pass to get a final localization fix before dropping weapons. So the initial search altitude varies with the characteristics of the search sensor(s).
