Hey there!
Is it intention that the F77 Te Kaha does has its Phalanx CIWS removed with the 2008 platform? Couldn't find any source that proved this and there are a lot of images that show the frigate with its CIWS installed past 2008. The 2002 version has it's CIWS, so I don't think it was left out by accident... [;)]

Ok, now I found this: A Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) is the frigates’ last line of self-defence against anti-ship missiles, fast inshore attack craft and strike aircraft. In November 2007, a NZ$25 million contract was signed with Raytheon to upgrade the Phalanx CIWS to Block 1B configuration. The CIWS on Te Mana has been upgraded and accepted, while Te Kaha will undergo acceptance testing in the latter part of 2011.

Small issue.

In the editor, the Australian Adelaide frigate has Mark 46a torpedoes in the helicopter magazine.  However these are incompatible with the S-70 Seahawks and it won't allow for any ASW missions.  If you change the magazine to plain Mark 46's everything works out OK.

While you're tweaking the Adelaide class ships, you should also remove the Penguin missiles from their magazines: after the Sea Sprite helicopters were cancelled these missiles never entered service with the RAN and were sold off: http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/australia-to-continue-with-illstarred-sh2g-seasprite-project-03338/

SO I was exploring the, "US Naval Air Power Debate" and playing the baseline... And the whole time I was thinking.. why are my penetration aircraft non-stealth bugs, and my BVR missle platforms F-35s... To me it makes more sense to switch these roles... However, when I tried to do this in the editor, I found the F-35 load outs aren't yet complete? for their Future capabilities???

Here are a few thoughts:

AARGM Loadout for f-35(must be external, but you could through some aim 120 or even some SDB in the bays )

I know nothing is certain, but It seems like they will strap most of this ordinance on the f-35 given time.

No info on retirement date of CBU-59 APAM. JSOW covers some of the mission but obviously more expensive that a standard dumb bomb.Navy never bought the CBU WCMD class of weapons.

nothing concrete on the APAM date, but "Since the Dublin meeting, the United States has clarified its cluster munitions policy, reiterating that the weapons have military utility against massed formations as well as dispersed and moving targets and stating that by 2018 it will not use weapons with a failure rate of 1 percent or greater. Critics have called into question the reliability of tested failure rates and called on the United States and other major cluster weapons possessors to join the CCM. Within the CCW, member states have considered some limitations on the use of certain cluster munitions, but the last draft text still recognized the military utility of the weapons."

Using the BRU-61/A bomb rack you can pack 4 SDB per external hardpoint, and here's some info about its damage capability "Although the SDB is significantly smaller than existing bombs, its warhead is still adequate for many typical targets. E.g. its steel and concrete penetration capability is similar to that of the much larger 2000 lb BLU-109/B warhead."

Not sure what the best way to figure out actual load-outs is, but hopefully this is enough evidence to build some SDB loadouts for the F-35... And perhaps one of those would be... 8 internal SDB, 2 internal Aim-120, 2 external AARGM, +fuel tanks? +Aim9x? +more Aim120?

Hi Feltan. Please let me know what version doesn't have the torpedo you need. Keep in mind to try and match the date/version of the aircraft with the date/version of the ship. Helicopters will pull from the ships ASW torp magazine if the entries match.

The Australian aircraft will be identical to the USN's, and use pretty much the same weapons systems (including Hellfire). I haven't seen any suggestion that Penguin missiles will be integrated to the type, and have read that they have long been retired from RAN service. Since the various procurement fiascos of the 1990s and early 2000s, the Australian Defence Force is pretty unenthusiastic about deviating from 'off the shelf' weapons systems.

Just noticed, the F-24 Hellcat II is listed as carrier capable but in the DB you have it as Air Force, and it's set up for boom refueling and not drogue....

This was spotted in the editor not in a published scenario. I will try to track it down tonight, but since this report I have updated my database with the latest -- so it is problematic.

The Iranian ASBM (Khalij Fars, #1812), doesn't have a guidance system and thus can't hit moving ships.

While data is limited, it apparently has an electro-optical seeker.

Sure can. Just tested.

Will see if we can dig up more on the missile itself but not sure its as capable as the Chinese missiles.

For addition also, the Gowind-Class Corvettes (Malaysian).

I haven't been able to find any evidence that suggests Super Bugs would fly with combined ARM & PGMs operationally. The roles (and weapons) are split between multiple aircraft. Feel free to prove me wrong though.

Haven't been able to find any info that suggests AGM-88 (any version) will be integrated on the F-35 any time soon, either [8D]

If we were to make any changes it would be to remove the APAM loadout from the latest F/A-18 variants. The F-35 will not carry any CBUs as far as I can tell.

Noticed something about the Khalij Fars ASBM

according to wikipedia (I know not the most reliable, take as you will)

The Khalij Fars is a Mach 3 class missile, but in game it goes upwards of 6000kts

the missile its based on (Fateh-110) is mach 3.5 class

Hi,

I have been fiddling with a scenario involving operations against a not-so well equipped faction of rebels. On of their main armaments are of course (generic) technicals, sporting 12,7mm machine-guns (to be precise: #1695 - 12.7mm/50 MG Burst [10rnds].

These weapons should be able to take down helicopters, they do however only have Surface Ships, Land Structures (Soft) and Mobile Units (Soft) listed as valid target. This prevents them form engaging even the most static of Blackhawks.

The same problem apparently exists for all small arms in the Db at the moment, which I believe is a bit unfair and wonder if these weapons could get updated? I don't know how the "Air PoH" is handled, but some sort of value would not be unrealistic.
