So I guess that we need to move the secondary images into the appropriate image directory manually?

Do we copy everything, or are we supposed to choose between line drawings or secondary images, etc.?

Yes-Some don't want the secondary images, (or may want to use a secondary image as a primary image), so we include that as a separate package. Some also want to use line drawings as the primary image, so we make those available (although we don't spend very much time working on line drawings).

Capocarro94 -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (5/9/2020 6:02:08 PM)

Is there a method to avoid auto-download secondary images (images with _t1, _t2, _t3)??

BeirutDude -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (5/10/2020 4:41:24 AM)

So just loaded the two image databases and it is causing my game to just spin, and not load. Going to try reloading the last version/patch.

Edit: If this happens to anyone else that worked.

cmanouser1 -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (5/10/2020 10:30:01 AM)

What are the secondary images for? I've read previous messages but none explain what's the use of those!

Not that I'm aware of, other than to turn off the auto-download completely. In this case, manually import only the primary images, then turn off the auto-update function.

Are you running the game while loading the image databases? That might cause problems, which should be corrected if you restart the game.

THe game is capable of simultaneously displaying up to 6 images of varying size per unit: The primary image and five "secondary" images. The supplied secondary images fill some of those secondary slots. Also, in some cases we have provide some really nice images as secondary images that some users may prefer to redesignate as the primary image. (NOTE: We try to use historically accurate photos as the primary image. In some cases, the historically accurate photo is not the most visually attractive photo. In these cases, if there is a secondary immage, it may be more attractive, but it is quite possibly not historically accurate in terms of date, nationality, etc.) Finally, in some cases (such as with SAM batteries) I've tried to supply secondary images to highlight the equipment of the SAM battery, such as launchers, radars, missiles, etc. For example of this latter use, see the HQ-2 entry below:

NO!

But I just tried...

1. copying the Secondary Images to my folders in an working version,
2. by unzipping the Secondary_Images.zip in the Temp folder and then then copying the secondary images to the respective CWDB and DB3000 image folders
3. and then reloaded the last patch

...and it is happening again.

My issue seems to be related to the secondary images, maybe it can't load one and is hanging the game initiation up?

I'm not sure. There shouldn't be anything in the images-there are all .jpg/jpeg or .txt files. Nothing executable that should cause problems to your system. They were all scanned for viruses before I uploaded them, and I just ran another scan, just to make sure. Is it related to the patch you just reloaded? Alternatively, it may be that there is some indexing of the photos. Your computer sees 10,000+ new files and is doing some indexing on them. Is the game still churning after 30 min or so?

Updated image and description packs are now available on the WS downloads page!

quote:

"Descriptions" -This contains the entire description set for the CWDB and DB3000 databases updated to 30 April 2020. It is broken up into the CWDB folder (4.36 MB, 910 files) and the DB3000 folder (14.8 MB, 3154 files). Although only 70 additional description files have been added, several earlier description files have been corrected and/or had additional information added or otherwise revised.

"Images"-This contains the entire primary images set for the CWDB and DB3K database updated to 30 April 2020. It contains a CWDB folder of primary images (1.02 Gb, 5,321 files, an increase of 460 images) a DB3000 folder of primary images (2.16 GB, 11,266 files, an increase of 407 images) and a "Secondary Images" folder with the secondary images and line drawing for both DB3K and CWDB (745 MB, 8,984 files). In addition, there have been numerous images that have been either corrected, or tags added. All told, over 1500 image files were added, modified, or replaced.

The images can also be downloaded on-demand from within CMO (no manual action needed). If you wish to re-download images that you have already got (e.g. to update), delete all files in these folders:
[CMO]\DB\Images\DB3000
[CMO]\DB\Images\CWDB

The updated description files will be included in the next update release.

Big props for this new release to CV60 (overall coordinator), kgambit, Boogabooga, Goldfinger35 and RafaleKiwi.

Thanks for the update and all the hard work in coordinating image, description and associated files, AS WELL AS working to correct DB issues that have been found! You guys are all unsung hero's

Yes, I just started it and went out to get lunch for the family.

Now I deleted all of the Images and Descriptions and reran the patch and it started fine.

At this point I'm reloading the DB3000 and CWDB Images and Descriptions. Then i'm going to rerun the patch an see what happens. It ran fine last night when I did just that, it's when I tried to add the Secondary Images this morning that it happened again. If there is an issue I'm 99 and 44/100s sure that is where it is.

BeirutDude -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (5/10/2020 5:44:35 PM)

That's the ticket, Loading the straight databases without secondary images and running the last patch. Starts right up with no problems

So starts fine with no images/descriptions and starts fine with the base CWDB/DB3000 images after running the patch, but locks up with the Secondary Images added to the Image folders.

Thanks for all the hard work updating the images and descriptions.

rmwilsonjr -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (5/10/2020 8:34:32 PM)

Awesome job as always, team! After download, my CWDB is build 466 and my DB3000 is build 483. Is that correct?

Sardaukar -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (5/11/2020 5:56:55 AM)

Only patches affect DB, these are just pics.

mikkey -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (5/12/2020 12:05:59 AM)

BeirutDude -> RE: Updated DB image & description packs are available! (5/13/2020 8:42:53 PM)

CV60, Hey I wonder if my issue is some kind of registration of the images to unit numbers? reason I say that was I was placing a Patriot battery in a scenario I'm designing and this is what came up for the image/description...

[image]local://upfiles/44561/9E0006DDAC34455F959F07FBE908C9C8.jpg[/image]

CV60 -> RE: Updated DB image & description packs are available! (5/13/2020 9:56:06 PM)

Thanks. I'll take a look at it. I may have simply typed the wrong facility number.

Edit: Yep, that is it. If you go into the DB3000 images, go ahead and delete Facility_3223, and do the same for the description file. I'll fix the issue in the next (30 June or so) image update

pclaurent -> RE: Updated DB image & description packs are available! (5/15/2020 7:11:40 AM)

where do we post new images suggestions?

Thanks for offering to help. PM me and kgambit. Include a copy of the picture and the link to it. If we use it, we will put it in the next update (updates are generally released every 3 months, around 1 Jan, 30 April, 30 June, 30 Sept).

Orffen -> RE: Updated DB image & description packs are available! (5/27/2020 8:09:58 AM)

Thanks for these!

There's an issue with the description for #718 - AIM-120C-7 AMRAAM P3I.3 - it comes up as a MIM-23 HAWK description. Image looks OK.

Can workaround by deleting Weapon_718.txt

You are welcome. Thanks for your note about the MIM-23 file. FYI, We corrected the Weapon_718 issue the last update, but have not yet replaced it with a AIM-120C description. Because of that, if you simply did an overwrite of the description files, that change would not have been made in your installation, as the erroneous MIM-23 file would not have been overwritten, and would remain in your installation. Kgambit and I recommend that players do a complete deletion of all images and description files before applying the latest image and description packages. This is because we occasionally correct obvious errors such as the MIM-23 error that you note by simply eliminating the erroneous file, but do not replace the erroneous file with a corrected file (although we eventually will do so)

Thanks, that must have been it!

Parel803 -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (6/25/2020 5:33:21 PM)

My apologize if I add in nthe wrong post. Aircraft image drawing in DB of the NH90 "Aircraft_656_t5"looks incorrect. I do hope I have the right DB intalled, if not sorry for the inconvenience.

Parel,

Looks like you installed the CWDB line drawings in the DB3K image folder.

thank you. sorry for my mistake

Battelman2 -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (6/28/2020 7:00:07 AM)

As of DB v480 (possibly fixed in later version) weapon #668 has the wrong description. 20mm GAM-BO1 Oerlikon Burst [20 rnds] has description for MIM-23 Hawk. This was the description that the game (v1.01 - Build 1147.4) downloaded automatically- I did not manually install any descriptions/images.

KLAB -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (6/28/2020 1:39:14 PM)

Descriptions are a separate download and forum.
Try the following link https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3441939
and check you've downloaded the latest DB Image and description packs.

ParachuteProne -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (6/28/2020 2:50:04 PM)

Is there any chance the database and subscriptions files could be added to the steam workshop, so they would be installed automatically when posted. Once subscribed to ?

As I said in my post, I did not download any image or description packs manually. I simply installed CMO, launched it, and that was the description that was auto-downloaded.

alphali -> RE: Updated DB image packs are available! (7/1/2020 9:31:29 AM)

In CMO images and descriptions are downloaded as needed if you didn't download the full package
