March 6th 1943 Air Losses: 41 Japanese, 7 Allied, 12 Pilots Japanese occupy: Allies occupy: Japanese land at: Allies land at: Subs Lots of ineffective sub action from both sides. Marshalls Quiet Solomons, etc. Corsairs and Lightnings sweep Buka. There are Ki-44-IIc and N1K1-J on CAP all at their ceiling. The Corsairs come in first in two groups of 13. It is bloody and the Lightnings hit a weakened CAP and the N1k1-J have been brought down and don't get the dive on the Lightnings. 25 Ki-44-IIc and 11 N1K1-J are traded for 6 F4U-1[:@]. Bloody but it does represent a good start on thinning out the Corsairs[:)]. Surprisingly, a lot of my pilots are lost[:(]. Allied forces are unloading at Torkina without CAP. Unfortunately, the morning sees Severe Storms. Variously, Nells, Vals, Nicks (at 1000 feet) and Kates attack, all un-coordinated. First up are 12 Nells, no hits (surprise!). Then 9 Vals (1 hit) followed by 12 more Vals (4 hits[:)]). Then 12 Nicks come in and score 6 bomb hits and 2 shell hits[8D]. Lastly 9 Kates manage to put a single torpedo into APD Stringham that has already taken 7 bombs and a massive explosion and sink her. Sinking sounds confirm at least one more APD sunk[:)]. No troop lost messages reported[:(]. Burma area Continue bombarding at Warazup: quote:
Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 14921 troops, 375 guns, 933 vehicles, Assault Value = 913 Defending force 47092 troops, 833 guns, 1293 vehicles, Assault Value = 1283 Japanese ground losses: 8 casualties reported Squads: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 1 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled Guns lost 4 (1 destroyed, 3 disabled) Vehicles lost 4 (3 destroyed, 1 disabled) Allied ground losses: 31 casualties reported Squads: 1 destroyed, 2 disabled Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 1 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled Guns lost 1 (1 destroyed, 0 disabled) Vehicles lost 5 (1 destroyed, 4 disabled) This is only a small effect but (ignoring FOW) it is trading VP roughly 1 each per turn. Also, the defenders are British and Indian troops so I'm not sure how large their pools are. Eventually, I expect to add more artillery and 2 infantry divisions and see if that can do some good. I have two months before the monsoon. China The inability to force Chinese forces to surrender is getting silly[:@]. Does a shock attack increase the chance of a surrender more than just as results from increasing the odds ratio by 1? quote:

However, for the first time for a long time there are no yellow or red shrieks in Burma or China.
