ORIGINAL: petracelli Hi I am a long time wiffer but need to update my pc to be able to play this, would like to know from fellow long time wiffers their views on the game . Cheers Phil warspite1 I'm not a current grognard, although would certainly say I knew the game well back in the mid/late 90's, so trust my views are welcome here. Views on the game? Overall I think Steve has done a brilliant job in bringing the board game, faithfully, to the computer. Outstanding. The game, with the map as the centre piece, looks fantastic. The game still plays like the board game did - that is no mean achievement. There are a few detail/cosmetic things that I would like to alter obviously - nothing is perfect in life - but from what I can see so far (almost a year into Global War) there are absolutely no showstoppers. I am ENJOYING playing and getting to know the game again + getting up to speed with the numerous rule and counter changes since the 5th Edition. As a player of the boardgame you could, with your opponents consent, do a few things outside of the strict order of play. For obvious reasons that is not possible with the computer. This adds a layer of extra care required when planning your turns, but WIF was always a game that needed appropriate thought put into every decision, every move anyway, so that will not be too much of an issue. This is money truly well spent. I will be playing this for many, many years to come.
