Yeah, they aren't just entertainment. I like AAR's especially the pictures.

I don't really appreciate the WITP-AE AAR's all that much......most of them are text with copy-paste-clips from the Combat Result Report
and not many pictures. The AAR I'm part of over there, Jim Moore gamme permission to post stuff in his AAR, anyway, I like to put
lots of detail and lots of pictures. I try to output them to suit me and if you guys like it too well, that's frosting on the cake.

Yeah, the all-too-common walls of Combat Results text you see there are tedious to read. With your abundance of annotated pics, yours are the best, or at least the most entertaining. [;)]

The TOAW game engine has given the Allies two turns in a row w/o an interviening Axis turn. Cool. This is the T3 front lines, and as
you can see the supply level is pretty spiffy. I didn't get to execute my lightening stroke dash north w/ my British tanks but there's still
a push to the north going on.

I think the On Hand changes during combat because some of the equipment isn't lost, its damaged and will be repaired and return ? So, it doesn't matter to me if I see zero's changing.

In reference to the detail of your reports and the length of the scenario, I think the detail will dop off in a few turns as things get simpler. And although it is 190 turns, I don't think you will take that long to run the map. I considered building something into the scenario that would force the Allies to stop occasionally for three months, but that isn't much fun to play. Of course, we'll see how this playtest goes and then we can decide what changes we might want to make.

In some other scenarios I've prevented the double turns (and it can be avoided by starting in hotseat) but I left them in this one. It gives the Allied player something to think about, as the PO will get double turns occasionally. [;)]

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/23/2013 10:57:25 PM)

This is just before the second round of combat in T3. I'm running into stiffer resistance.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/23/2013 11:56:44 PM)

This is the front lines just before the first combat round in T4: I've got a pretty good surround going together on the east side and I've
surrounded a small stack on the west side. It seems like we might be still on schedule. I'm seeing more and more German units arriving
from the north. I wonder how many more are coming.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/24/2013 12:09:53 AM)

I think this airfield attack went well for the Axis this time. He lost the use of one of his squadrons and lost a bunch of planes but the
Allied player lost an absolutely expensive array of planes. I'm not really sure who won this battle. I guess they both lost.

[image]local://upfiles/16287/3540E652B9BF4D4F9AAB8626AFDA00FD.gif[/image]

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/24/2013 12:41:30 AM)

Here's the condition of the squadrons and their current mission. Those green units that are on Rest are below 50% supply level. I'm
trying to keep everybody in the green.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/24/2013 3:41:43 AM)

Here's the front lines in T5. I'm in the process of mopping up a big group of Germans.

[image]local://upfiles/16287/3FFF02E51A8A4B47BC1F872D2BA7E41E.gif[/image]

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/24/2013 4:35:02 AM)

T6's front lines. Now I'm mopping up on the east coast too.

[image]local://upfiles/16287/A98BB6E31C854FE2A02972D856518F40.gif[/image]

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/24/2013 5:15:23 AM)

Now in T7 the front lines are moving north slowly in the west and there's a lot of mop up going on in the middle and in the east. I've got
reserves headed for the place where the Rangers are because I want to get the Rangers out of the front line if at all possible. Maybe
if I had some air cap. I could fly them north to grab bridges and airfields etc.

OK. I've done my turn 2 moves and I think I'm ready for combat. I've got a single airfield strike planned and so far nobody is on INT
missions. I'm hoping I'll get a round two to set some INT ( they're CS now ). Here's my moves.

Afaik, if you do air attacks with an air unit and set it to inderdiction after the attacks the interdiction oder will not be carried out in the next enemy turn. You must set them to Interdiction without letting them do anything else, then it comes into effect on the next enemy turn.

I just got a PM from Berto that I'd like to share with you guys because it's got some suggestions
for scenarios that I think are great ideas. Anybody else have a scenario that needs some
work?

Hey, Larry.

I appreciate your AARs, and the vital work you are doing on vetting older TOAW scenarios.

If possible, I'd appreciate if you could fit the

Burma Campaign 1942-1945
Papua-New Guinea 1942

especially into your busy schedule. I know that 3.4 broke the former's supply. It would be great if that could be fixed, which may just involve specifying the exact set of optional rules to recreate the conditions under which the scenario was originally designed.

Whatever, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Berto

@Berto - I would imagine if you play both of those scenarios with New Supply = OFF, they are ok ? Otherwise, do you have any other concerns with those scenarios ?

Really? No kidding? Well, okay then that's the way I'll do it from now on. Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea.

It might be a good time for a refresher from the briefing :

Note that when Messina, Sicily is captured by the Allies, these Allied formations will withdraw:
50th British Division
US 2nd Armored Division
9th US Division
1st US Division
7th US Army

Holy Smoke.....I forgot all about that. That's the bad part about capturing Messina. I have need of those formations so I'm guessing
that I should have their missions completed before I capture Messina. And so far their missions are pushing the Germans north. I'll
have to do some more in depth planning for the eventual capture of Messina. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. My short term
memory forgets what it's supposed to do sometimes.

Here's the T8 front lines. I found some RR engineers in an Engineer unit and I've got it busy repairing rail from Augusta going north.
There's only 11 squads though and the going is going to be extraordinarily slow. I've got to look around for some more RR dudes.

Here's the T9 front lines. I'm nearing the north coast of Sicily.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/24/2013 11:01:52 PM)

I've started resting the planes if they have a readiness level of 59% or less. The German air force has more or less retreated to the
Messina area under an AA unit or to the mainland of Italy. I'm bombing them on the mainland now.....I want to avoid AA units if possible.
There's plenty of targets w/o an AA unit.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/24/2013 11:15:47 PM)

OK. I'm on the north coast road. I'm planning on having at least two units on that road one heading for Messina and the other one
going west.

The good part is that the Germans evacuate Sicily at the same time, so its not sych a scary thing. In a perfect world, the US 2nd Armored races to Palermo [120,230], which is where the US 9th Infantry arrives. Then its not too difficult to clear most of the western half of the island.

Otherwise, you can push to Messina while protecting your supply lines, then after the units on your side withdraw, and everybody on the German side evacuates, you can use a few units to 'conquer' the rest of Sicily while the main focus shifts to the mainland.

Here's the T12 front lines around the Messina area:

Here's the T14 front lines. I'm running on fumes supply-wise. Other than that everything is fine.

Here's a close up of the west coast situation. There's a lot more to do on this end of the island.

Wondering where one can obtain the latest up-date of Steve's to playtest?

Here at SPzAbt's 'scenario depot':

larryfulkerson -> RE: Sicily to Brenner Pass Revised (12/25/2013 10:45:31 AM)

I have attached to this post an attachment, after unzipping which one can obtain the scenario and the equipment file directory. Just
truncate the dot text off the file name and unzip it. I'm having a blast and I predict you will too. Let me know how you do playing it and
lemme know how you like it.

EDIT: It looks like Telumar posted a half a second before I did and his link works too, I tried it.
