rkr1958 -> RE: Fall Weiss AAR (Colonel) vs AI (2/16/2014 4:22:05 PM)

Here, I’m afraid, is where my AAR ends. I’ve already successfully carried out Sea Lion (September 1940) and managed to achieve a marginal victory. While the game “pulled” me out I don’t think that in a million years Hitler would have given up these English conquests. While I feel the pull out in October 1940 was a-historical, assuming the a-historical victory I just achieved, I accepted the result as I knew the Soviet Union was next. However, it's a little far fetch for me to have a successful Sea Lion in 1940, pull out and abandon my conquest, invade and conquer the Soviet Union in 1941 and then launch a second Sea Lion in 1942. So I’m making a call in my alternate WW2 universe. In October 1940 after the successful invasion of England and the capture of London, Dover, Portsmouth, Southampton, Bristol and a number of other cities in southern England this is what happened. Winston Churchill, the British parliament and the King George VI fled to Birmingham and set up government there. Churchill and his staff flew to the US to try to convince President Roosevelt to enter the war against Germany and send US troops immediately to help out in England. The US congress and the majority of American people were still strongly isolationists and would not agree to the war. Without Congress’ approval and declaration of war, President Roosevelt’s hands were tied and could not send US troops to England. To do so, would have been in violation of the US constitution, an impeachable offense and would have in most certainty resulted in him being removed from office. Roosevelt did manage, however, to convince the US congress to pass Lend Lease 2, which promised greater equipment and supplies to England, provided she had the navy to safely transport them across the Atlantic to England. Churchill flew back to Birmingham with this grim news but determine to find on to the last man. However, not many in the government saw it this way. Churchill lost a vote of confidence and his government fell. A collation government was formed and, in an ironic twist of fate, Neville Chamberlain was asked and accepted to lead this new government. He then promptly asked for a cease fire and a chance to negotiate an armistice with Germany. He did, in Munich and signed the armistice that was to be known (ironically again) as the Munich Agreement II. In frustration, Churchill and a number of government and military people along with the majority of the remaining RN fled the country to Canada to set up a British Government in Exile. Back in England, free and occupied zones, similar to France, were established. The armistice between Germany and Britain, in effect, put the war in Europe on hold until June 22, 1941. But with the defeat of the Soviet Union in October 1941, the war in Europe officially ended with German domination of all of Europe including Great Britain. Thus, ends my AAR. I hope you enjoyed and please let me know what you think. And, thanks for following. [image]local://upfiles/31901/2903C4F0EFF64D9AB24950130DF97CA8.jpg[/image]
