Mar/Apr 1943 1st Allied Impulse: NOTE: I redid the German color scheme to be lighter, but still pleasing to me. Hopefully this will help those folks having problems seeing the differences between all the brown-toned major powers... Naval Air: CW sends a FTR3 out to the Marianas sea area. The Allies will try to isolate Truk for the third turn in a row. The Japanese haven't really been defending Truk to agressively, but enough to prevent the Truk from going out of supply. With three sea areas to cover, the Allies have to shut the Japanese out of all of them, which has been the problem. Naval Moves: CW and US move their many TRSs and AMPHs off of France bringing in fresh troops. The game is also allowing build points to get into the USSR even with Moscow taken by Germany. This is once again forcing the Allies to adjust their convoys again, setting up two lines of convoys going into the USSR through Murmansk and Persia. In the Pacific, the US puts their main carrier force in the Marianas, and also prepares to land more troops in the Phillipines. Bypassed or not, the Allies want to clear Truk once and for all and base the fleet there. Naval Combat: The US fleet attempts to find the Japanese NAV in the Marianas. Japan sends up one FTR from Iwo Jima into the 3 box to escort the NAV. US rolls a 5, Japan rolls a 5. US gets 1 surprise point and chooses a Naval Air Combat. With all US CVPs going up as fighters, they have a healthy +5/-4 odds on the Japanese. 1st round, Japan rolls a 11, no effect. Allies roll a 9, Japan chooses to abort the FTR. ratio goes up to +7/-6. 2nd round, Japan rolls a 11, no effect. Allies roll a 8, and the NAV is aborted. US really wanted a kill in one of these rounds, but didnt get it. [image]local://upfiles/12574/D2086392364846C6B99B86FF2C4D39AA.jpg[/image]
