821Bobo -> RE: Turn 56 (7/4/2014 7:38:22 AM)

I started the withdrawal towards Novorossiysk and Terek immediately after Brian has crossed Don. But Panzers were faster. The only problem is the poor logistic simulation.

821Bobo -> Turn 57 (7/4/2014 7:42:05 AM)

17.7.1942 - 23.7.1942

Brian formed pocket north of Novorossiysk. I have been able to break it but the units are doomed anyway. Retreat in the south continues.

On the first turn of breakthrough the wedge looked thin at it's base. You had some mobile units close. Maybe you could cut the supply lines?

821Bobo -> RE: Turn 56 (7/4/2014 7:51:55 AM)

It was not possible. The CC were to far away.

821Bobo -> Turn 58 (7/8/2014 9:21:52 AM)

24.7.1942 - 30.7.1942

Brian moved his attention towards Moscow. Small pocket has been formed but the mighty Red Army was able to break it. In this process 3 German divisions were routed.

821Bobo -> Turn 58 (7/8/2014 9:28:46 AM)

Situation in the south. I lost Novorossiysk and good part of Transcaucasus front is doomed. I will try to make a stand at Makhachkala and can only pray that the gap between Astrakhan and Stalingrad will not be exploited.

Oshawott -> RE: Turn 57 (7/8/2014 4:54:17 PM)

Could you please show us OOB numbers?

Naive question: what could he do there anyway? Units that cross the swampy Volga area would be way out of supply, wouldn't they? Or is there really a backdoor threat to Stalingrad itself?

It's interesting to see a serious Case Blue type of 1942 offensive.

Dont have screenshot, just the numbers. This is from end of August. Currently I am waiting for the first September turn.

Probably not an easy task but could be achieved. If I recall, I saw at least one AAR where Volga has been crossed south of Stalingrad.

821Bobo -> Turn 59 (7/16/2014 6:30:49 PM)

31.7.1942 - 6.8.1942

I have managed to reopen the pocket once again.

821Bobo -> RE: Turn 59 (7/16/2014 6:31:39 PM)

And the south....

STEF78 -> RE: Turn 59 (7/16/2014 6:44:40 PM)

you did it right while retreating in the South.. His mobile units will be out of supply if attacking immediatly and you will have time to entrench.

On my opinion, his target will be Stalingrad, not Baku

821Bobo -> RE: Turn 59 (7/16/2014 7:06:36 PM)

Currently I am waiting for turn 65(mid September) and his Panzers are spread out from Smolensk to Caucasus. It does not look for another big push but you can never know.

STEF78 -> RE: Turn 59 (7/16/2014 7:32:59 PM)

he is leaving you the initiative.

You will be able to reconquer ground from november 1942

821Bobo -> RE: Turn 59 (7/17/2014 5:16:31 AM)

I doubt it, his defense seems to be strong. I will probably have to wait for rifle corps.

821Bobo -> Turn 60 (7/17/2014 5:19:20 AM)

7.8.1942 - 13.8.1942

Brian tried to form another pocket in Moscow sector and failed. I have launched few counter attacks and routed 3 German mobile divisions.

821Bobo -> Turn 60 (7/17/2014 5:20:51 AM)

In south, I am retreating towards Stalingrad.

timmyab -> RE: Turn 56 (7/17/2014 9:37:19 AM)

The game looks to be nicely balanced. I think you've done the right thing to back off to preserve your army. Your decision to abandon the Tsymla river may even be too cautious.
It'll be interesting to see what he does with his gains South of Rostov/Stalingrad. Abandon them at some point would be my guess.

821Bobo -> Holidays are over (9/26/2014 7:24:51 AM)

Sorry lads for the long break. I have been on Holiday from mid July with my mates and somehow I managed to stay in the Holiday mood till and of August.
And yes, we had a great time. [:D]

821Bobo -> Turn 61 (9/26/2014 7:35:59 AM)

14.8.1942 - 20.8.1942

Brian continued with his effort from previous turn and succeed. My attempt to open the pocket failed. Another 12 divisions doomed, especially the 4CV guards hurt.

Peltonx -> RE: Turn 61 (9/26/2014 10:53:37 AM)

I am surpised u did not pull them out last turn. I am guessing he was very happy when he opened the turn and saw your troops still there for the taking.

821Bobo -> RE: Turn 61 (9/26/2014 11:00:11 AM)

Only 3 could have been saved. 3 were used in attack that routed German division. The rest were stuck between German units.

Ok 2 turn pocket which is about right for 42.

Good game over-all

Flaviusx -> RE: Turn 61 (9/26/2014 11:46:16 AM)

I like that blonde.

Oshawott -> RE: Turn 61 (9/26/2014 1:07:18 PM)

Two women, cigarettes, beer AND Pringles. You live dangerous!

smokindave34 -> RE: Turn 61 (9/26/2014 4:32:57 PM)

Enough with the screenshots of the game lets see some more of your "mates".....

821Bobo -> Turn 62 (9/27/2014 9:12:11 AM)

20.8.1942 - 26.8.1942

After clearing the pocket, German Panzers were shifted to Orel. First belt of fortifications between Orel and Tula was contested. Panzers did a breakthrough and I am again on retreat.

821Bobo -> Turn 62 (9/27/2014 9:25:06 AM)

In the south, I have retreated behind Don and Volga. 1 Guard, 1 CC and 2 Tank armies make Stalingrad safe for now, I hope.
Brian is very cautious and usually never leaves any unit exposed. My options for counter attacks are very limited.
