I found a hex that needs some attention. Supposedly it's a rail hex but my embarked units can't move across it going north. D'oh.
Maybe some kinda special terrain for that one hex to give the railroad something to sit on or something. At any rate it's a roadblock.

fogger -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/9/2014 6:24:20 AM)

Cfant2 asked how long it was taking to do a turn. My first turn took approx 4 hours. Since then each turn is taking approx 3 hours. I am doing a turn every 2nd night. Larry is retired and is normally returning within a day or two. He is in the USA while I am in Australia so that helps.

I sent turn 6 last night to Larry and my first impressions of the game. It is great. The fog of war has kicked in now and I had one recon unit bounce off an Inf Regt and try to go round only to hit another unit and then another unit as I tried to go round the 2nd Inf Regt. I am not seeing Larry’s Arty units until they fire their DF & FPF missions. They are firing even when I have conducted an overrun attack. There also does not appear to be any mobile supply units for the Germans.

Okie dokie......I've received John's moves and this is what I see before anybody has moved:

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/11/2014 10:06:18 PM)

Here's all the reinforcements I get in T7. A lot of them are really supply low and need some rest before I can count them as combat
ready.

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/11/2014 10:23:52 PM)

This is the Riga area now. John is across the river and is branching out and spreading his units around and there's no hope of holding
him back now.

Hello folks,

when ordinary people could have this TOAW 3.6 'AND' this wonderful FITE 2 ?

Is the modified database customized for FITE 2 or it's a new TOAW 3.6 feature ?

thank you all, in advance

Rob

fogger -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/12/2014 10:01:26 PM)

Hi Rob,
There are still bugs in 3.6. Have you noticed that Larry and I are playing "two player hot seat" and not PBEM. Like wise with FITE2. larry and I are doing a test play to see what bugs are in it. There have been several to date and I may have found another one last night which I have yet advised Soren of. So I better send him an email now.
cheers
john

Here's what Minsk looks like now. John is moving to surround the Soviet grouping at Minsk.

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/12/2014 11:03:00 PM)

Here's the Stalin Line down south. It's dynamic and confusing. It's also breaking up. German pressure is terrific.

Cfant -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/13/2014 10:28:23 AM)

Sorry if it is mentioned somewhere, I didn't find it. Is there any penalty for the Soviet, if he retreats too much? In FitE, there was no (political) problem to abandon vast territories, so the Soviet could mass up troops behind the Djnepr. (Yes, it had its own dangers, but there was no reason to really defend Minsk or Stalin Line). Is this the same in FitE2? [:)]

fogger -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/13/2014 1:13:08 PM)

Riga has been cleared and I have pocketed about 3 div's in the circles. My recon and racing to see if they can capture a major river crossing

Um.....there are factory units in a lot of the Soviet cities and retreating too much would expose them to capture or destruction. I'm not
sure what effect that would have on the game but I suspect that there's some reduction of victory points or something similar. It hasn't
happened in our game yet so I don't know, I have no proof yet. I'll have to look that up in the scenario briefing or somewhere. It's a good
question. I haven't been pulling back so quickly and there's been a lot of capture and destruction going on but no major factory has
been threatened yet. I'm kind of curious now. I guess we'll find out.

fogger -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/13/2014 1:24:17 PM)

The game has a very good fog of war. In the south this is what I can see. The area marked is the Stalin Line and I was thinking that this would be Larry's MLR and the units that I have engaged in the last couple of turns were part of his forward screen. A couple of quick attacks got me a bloody nose. I then had to do set piece attacks and am now getting into larry's rear areas and there is a chance that I will be able to start forming some pockets. To the north there appears to be a gap in Larry's MLR and I have 3 recon units in that area.

fogger -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/13/2014 1:39:27 PM)

Larry has a number of factories to evacuate and it will take 2 turns to evacuate each factory. If I can capture a factory then I get a increase in equipment and Larry a reduction. I am not sure but I think there is some turn restriction for each factory before they active and they can not be moved until they active.

There are 4 Axis progress check points. Turn 6, 12, 18 and 24. If the Soviet player can keep the Axis from taking certain cities by these turns the Axis player will not get shock bonus, thus an advantage to the Soviet player not retreating and defending forward.
Turn 6 the Axis player must capture Riga (184,266), Vilnius (194,309). Lvov (174,397). Turn 12 the Axis player must capture Pskov (228,253), Mogilev (248,325), Zhitomir (229,392). Turn 18 the Axis player must capture Tallinn (194,221), Smolensk, (267,308) Kherson (278,457). Turn 24 the Axis player must capture Luga (243,236), Roslav (277,323), Kiev (252,388).

Cfant -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/13/2014 8:08:02 PM)

Thanks for the infos :) I'm glad, that the scenario-developers have thought about this problem. [&o]
And thanks to both players for this AAR :)

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/14/2014 11:11:53 PM)

There's a short briefing document that comes w/ the scenario download and here's the section on the factories.

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/15/2014 2:00:52 AM)

OK. I've received some moves from John and this is the north part of the front lines as they are now. John is racing north and I'm putting
out roadblocks but precious few Soviet units are headed this way. John will probably just blow through Pskov like I don't have any
defenders there. The Axis shock value is much higher than the Soviet shock value and the difference is being felt all over the map.

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/15/2014 2:13:55 AM)

Here's the next section of the front lines from Pskov looking south. My front line isn't nearly ready for combat and it's probably not
going to be ready for another 10 turns or so. John is going to impact my front lines before that so it's looking kinda iffy out there.

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/15/2014 2:21:50 AM)

I'm skipping over the Marshes to show the Stalin Line down south. The fighting is probably severe ( I'm not aware how the fighting is
because I'm not watching the playback, which is unavailable ). John is blowing through my Stalin Line so I'm already putting roadblocks
on the bridges over the rivers near by so as to stiffle the movement of Axis units further to the east or south. So far so good. All kinds
of reinforcements are headed this way but they are still many turns away and I'm thinking Kiev might fall before too much longer. I've
already started moving the factories at Kiev to the east coast.

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/15/2014 2:27:48 AM)

Here's one view of the front line that has completely degenerated. John's units are racing into my rear areas and trapping all the slower
Soviet units. He's in the process of making a very large pocket. I'm going to lose a lot of units if I can't beat him to the river.

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/15/2014 2:50:23 AM)

Here's what Minsk looks like now. John is outflanking me on the south and is zooming ahead to the next river to trap all my Minsk
defenders. And surrounding the city proper. I would have done that too if I were him. It's a good move. John is one of the better
players.

larryfulkerson -> RE: FITE2.......Fogger......Fulkerson (4/15/2014 6:22:27 AM)

Here's a closeup of the Stalin Line down south: John is pushing through my defenders and surrounding and destroying all my best
troops. I've got reinforcements headed this way but they aren't going to get here in time.
