Its just one scenario after another. I run my guys and I don't care if they get killed so long as 1 guy is left to take the last flag. I'm on to the next scenario where I control a whole other group of ppl.

I don't understand why games like this don't have core units. I like to be careful w/ my ppl and keep im alive fru a whole campaign. W/ this game who cares if my ppl die. I'm never going to see im again anyway.

I bought this game a few years ago an bought it again on steam. Now I remember why I didn't like it. The gameplay is good but no core units is crap.

Is there a mod to save this title?

In SPWAW I keep ppl to hand near HQ just to push and try to rescue any of my ppl who get cut off or wounded. For example if a tank crew bails out, an effort is going to be made to rescue im. W/ this game who cares. It's a level of immersion that's lost imo.

The game is worth 20 beans. It could be better.

The Market Garden campaign uses the carryover mechanic. This makes the game much tougher, and can require going back to replay missions etc. We know that carryover and core units is a popular mechanic with more advanced players, but it can make things tougher for other players. It also limits the different types of missions we can build.

But, as I say, the MG expansion is probably exactly what you are after. Plus there are a number of mods which make use of the carryover mechanic - check out the Merr mod and others here:

Though you don't have core units, you could play the game as a battalion commander and assume that the units in play at any one time are a mix from that battalion. Then, you could keep track of how your battalion fares across multiple scenarios. You could also "play" across multiple scenarios with a "reasonable" level of replacements to your battalion. And if your battalion TOE every dropped below a certain strength your command would be pulled from the line and your campaign would be over with a loss. The challenge would be to win the majority, if not all of your scenarios without being pulled from the line. That is, taking excessive losses.

Thanks, Pip. I'll get the MG dlc, I assume I need to wait for it to be available on steam version. I plan on getting all the dlc. IIRC the demo said they'll be available in a week or so.

I'm glad you guys are offering games on steam now. Very convenient.

I do enjoy BA on my iPad and go back to it every six months or so as this is the only matrix title that is 100% true to its PC version via tablet version. But the OP is correct in that you have very little interest in replaying this game because you simply have no vested interest in your units. It would be nice if they updated it for tablets with the user mods. Just as a side note the user mods for BA are listed as 9.99 in the App Store but are really free.

There was a small visual bug where anything after the expansions ended up with a price shown. I will sneak out an update to fix it when I get a chance.

Cheers
