Oshawott -> RE: T14 Center (4/29/2014 3:47:16 PM)

Situation after I move my units. The Axis units are pushed into a tight pocket and supply is restricted.

Oshawott -> T14 Bryansk (4/29/2014 3:51:21 PM)

Bryansk front is very quiet. There are no longer any significant Axis forces in this sector. I prepare for a counter-attack.

Oshawott -> T14 Southwest (4/29/2014 3:54:42 PM)

The situation in the southwest at the beginning of the turn. I am not sure if I displaced a Panzer Corps or just an Infantry Corps. The brave soldiers of 303rd Rifle division withstand two deliberate attacks against Kharkov.

Oshawott -> T14 Southwest (4/29/2014 3:56:30 PM)

The situation after I move my troops. The goal is to separate the Panzer and motorized division from the Corps and to restrict supply.

Oshawott -> T14 South (4/29/2014 4:00:19 PM)

The south is very quiet. More time to evacuate HI in Stalino. I move 44th army further north because I don't think Rostov will be in any danger in 41.

Oshawott -> T14 Crimea (4/29/2014 4:01:59 PM)

Hit and run at the Crimea. I reinforce Odessa.

Oshawott -> T14 Battles (4/29/2014 4:06:55 PM)

Many battles this turn. In case you are wondering why I don't post HELD results. There are none. [X(] You have to wait for T16 to get the first HELD result and there are specific reasons for that.

One battle required the infamous 1=2 rule.

Oshawott -> T14 Data (4/29/2014 4:08:36 PM)

The data for T14.

Oshawott -> T14 Overview (4/29/2014 4:09:31 PM)

An finally an overview of the entire front.

[image]local://upfiles/46668/535C54EA03EC4459A9F73C06F544915B.jpg[/image]

loki100 -> RE: T14 Overview (4/29/2014 6:16:51 PM)

You've done a great job stalling the German offensive, the only risky sector looks to be around Tula and its a bit hard to see how the Germans can exploit that possibility given the pressure you are exerting elsewhere.

Oshawott -> RE: T14 Overview (4/30/2014 2:29:41 AM)

He moved all his armor to the west for the Rzevh attack so I think the Tula sector is save. He will get Leningrad during snow and Voronezh is also a concern.

Oshawott -> T15 North (4/30/2014 4:29:05 PM)

The Axis troops reach the river Neva. Some counter-attacks further south. My troops are tired in this sector because they get constantly pounded by the Germans. Morale is low. I prepare for the defense of Leningrad.

Oshawott -> T15 Center (4/30/2014 4:35:35 PM)

Very exciting turn in the Center. This is the situation before I move my troops. After pushing north the Axis troops try to get closer to Moscow. But resistance is too heavy. In addition a very important partisan attack near Smolensk cuts a vital rail line. Therefore, some troops are now above the 50 MP threshold.

Oshawott -> T15 Center (4/30/2014 4:38:50 PM)

The situation after I move my troops. Both small pockets are broken and I was able to displace two fully loaded Panzer Corps (LVII and XXXIX). But first I had to push back the motorized division Das Reich. 16th army and 13th army are slowly turning into all guards armies. 16th army will most likely be the first army to achieve guard status. This turn I received 2 additional guard rifle divisions.

Oshawott -> T15 Bryansk (4/30/2014 4:47:02 PM)

A quiet sector. I conduct a couple of counter-attacks. For the first time there is a reserve activation. It fails but it nearly doubles my losses.

Oshawott -> T15 Southwest (4/30/2014 4:48:25 PM)

I didn't take a proper screenshot but this shows the situation before I move my troops. Another tiny pocket, more like a ZOC lock. As you can see, I also received a second guard air base. The IL-2 is a great airplane.

Oshawott -> T15 Southwest (4/30/2014 4:53:11 PM)

After I push 9th Panzer division aside (only 22 tanks left) I am able to rescue my cavalry division. I also attack the Hungarian mobile brigades with infantry and cavalry.

Oshawott -> T15 South (4/30/2014 4:55:43 PM)

The south now belongs to me. There are no troops here that cause me any concern. Stalino has been completely evacuated. Everything is out including vehicles and HI. Counterattacks here are easy. I focus heavily on the Romanians.

[image]local://upfiles/46668/B04F1F143E074C92B1719563738531A4.jpg[/image]

Oshawott -> T15 Crimea and Odessa (4/30/2014 4:57:22 PM)

More attacks against the Romanians. I even attack a very low morale Romanian division (red indicator) out of Odessa.

Oshawott -> T15 Battles (4/30/2014 5:04:48 PM)

Many counterattacks this turn. 3 battles require the 1=2 rule.

The Axis has reached a breaking point. Many of the Panzer and motorized divisions are simply depleted. They are facing mostly rested rifle divisions with fairly high CV.

Is it possible that STEF78 has adjusted his TOE settings too low? My feeling is that especially the Axis support units are not very effective in contributing CV. In my Axis game I achieve much higher values.

Oshawott -> T15 Data (4/30/2014 5:05:36 PM)

The numbers for T15

loki100 -> RE: T15 Data (5/1/2014 7:03:20 AM)

Looks like you have completely stopped the German offensive, especially if you are looking at 'quiet' sectors not as places where you are not under pressure but where you can carry out a few localised attacks.

Your Gds formation rate is impressive.

Am trying your trick of dedicating a few airbases just to the Il-2s, it does seem to speed the rate at which they rack up victories

Oshawott -> RE: T15 Data (5/1/2014 12:01:56 PM)

I almost entirely rely on IL-2, Su-2 and U2VS for ground support in 41. I also use a couple of bombers but only because there are so few IL-2 at the beginning of the game. Bombers just use up too much supplies. I am always surprised how effective the Su-2 is. I always try to draw down the stockpile of Su-2. I still even use the Yak-2 tactical bomber regiment and it is a guard unit now.

When I play the Axis I always ask myself: Was the STUKA really such a horrible airplane? You can really only use them once before having to rotate them back into reserve. The Russian tactical bombers, however, can stay in combat almost permanently.

bigbaba -> RE: T15 Data (5/1/2014 3:31:48 PM)

great job. the sheer number of succesful attacks is amazing. and holding crima and odessa can cause huge problems for axis when the blizzard begins.

about the Ju 87 and Il2 the game is very unrealistic. the stuka could operate with little risk over russia even in 1943 because of poor red army fighter tactics and fighter control. on the other hand the Il2 had its weakspots and was shot down in dozens by crack luftwaffe fighter pilots.

Otto Kittel for example downed dozens of Il2 with this result:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Kittel

A large number of his Soviet victims included the IL-2 Shturmovik aircraft, leading the German Army to call him the "Butcher Killer", a nickname they had given to the tough Shturmovik.

Oshawott -> RE: T15 Data (5/1/2014 4:18:14 PM)

Interesting story about him landing behind enemy lines and making it back to the German lines. Movie material.

I agree regarding the Ju-87.

There is a "clear" pattern regarding the combat results (pun is intended). [:)] It will get even worse with some highlights during mud. But there are also things the Axis can do to prevent it.

Oshawott -> T16 Leningrad (5/3/2014 1:18:54 PM)

Standard procedure. He pushes my troops east so that he can cross the river next turn. I will defend Leningrad with 1 full army.

Oshawott -> T16 Leningrad (5/3/2014 1:21:49 PM)

A deliberate attack on Leningrad fails. A brave attempt!

Oshawott -> T16 Moscow (5/3/2014 1:24:35 PM)

The situation at Moscow before I move my troops. He puts a decent Panzer division in swamp but tanks in swamp is a bad idea. The displayed CV mean nothing. I believe his CV gets halved and the CV of my infantry gets doubled. There are two small pockets again. Otherwise not much action because he has to bring the HQs back in range.

[image]local://upfiles/46668/98275FCEFBC14633997B39FE1B992CFD.jpg[/image]

Oshawott -> T16 Moscow (5/3/2014 1:28:29 PM)

The situation after I move my troops. The Panzer division is pushed out of the swamp, the swamp hex is reoccupied with infantry and the pockets are reopened. I decide to evacuate Vyazma. Will he go for a last push in this sector before mud?

Also, I received 2 more guard rifle divisions and 3 guard air regiments this turn.

Oshawott -> T16 Bryansk (5/3/2014 1:30:27 PM)

The Bryansk front sees almost no changes.
