Gunner98 -> RE: Arctic Tsunami 2019 (5/10/2018 12:11:55 AM)

Hay magi, can you confirm if you are using the latest update? Build 998.8. There is a fix for the port problems:

FIXED: Ship condition in dock not being retained between saves

What was happening before was that each time you saved the ships were reset to taking the full 10 min to depart the port - so if you save a lot they would never leave.

Yes the F-14s are a PITA, good thing they are only using I-HAWK AAMs and not Pheonix..

Randomizer -> Rebuilt Wargasm '62 (5/31/2018 8:16:05 PM)

Version 3.0 of the 92nd Strategic Aerospace Wing and its adventures in a hypothetical global nuclear war with the Soviet Union in 1962. Updated to Build 998.9.

Changes:
- Soviet airfields are no longer single unit airfields. All Soviet airfields are consist of fully targetable facilities although in many cases only the main runways are detected at the start of the scenario;
- Soviet intercept and CAP missions have been reworked to incorporate improvements in the Mission editor;
- Soviet ICBM missions have been reworked;
- A scoring system has been implemented. The Player starts with 35000 VP and for every US city destroyed -1000 VP are added to the total. The Priority One targets for SIOP-62 was Soviet nuclear weapons and infrastructure, ignore them an there may be catastrophic consequences for the CONUS and your score;
- There are additional Russian infrastructure targets;
- At some point a modification to your target list will appear. Ignore it and the probable result will be a kiss goodbye to Honolulu amongst other places;
- Errors in the target list have been corrected;
- The reconnaissance assets at Elmendorf AFB have been improved with more capable models of the RB-57 series; and
- Two versions of the scenario are included, one with Aircraft Damage requiring Chains of War and another without that needs no DLC to play.

Thanks to Schr75 for the PM that lit the fire under my bottom...

-C

Revenge in Beirut 1983

Created Under Version 1.14 - Build 998.9

The Time Is: 16 November 1983, 04:00 Zulu/6:00 Beirut Time

Eastern Mediterranean Sea

Playable as USN/French

10 ½ Hours Duration

Background: At 06:23 Beirut time on 23 October 1983 a terrorist suicide bomber drove a truck loaded with explosives into the USMC Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 1/8 headquarters building at Beirut International Airport (OLBA). The attack killed 220 Marines, 18 Sailors, 3 attached U.S Army personnel and on older Lebanese gentleman (we called him “Shuffles”) who ran a “Hey Joe” store in the building.

Almost simultaneously, the French 9th Para Chasseurs Headquarters was bombed near the port killing 58 trooper there. Historically, France and the United States took separate retaliatory actions with mixed results.

This Scenario assumes that both nations agreed on a joint reaction just before the 24th Marine Amphibious Unit (MAU) turn over on 17-19 November to both show resolve and create a safer environment for the relieving 22nd MAU. This attack will have three full (combined) carrier task forces in a battle group (1980s terminology, not today's Carrier Strike Group) with the French carrier Foch also participating. Historically, the carriers were there on or about 16 November what was lacking was resolve…

1. This is a low complexity air strike and Naval Gun Fire Support (NGFS) mission. There are a lot of targets but little time to get them.
2. Syria has reconstituted ADA/SAM/Radar units along the Beirut-Damascus Road and in the Bekaa Valley (as was done historically).
3. Only the actual carriers are present for CTF 60.1 as I did not want the support/escort units detached to become additional NGFS units. In the real world they would not have detached with a Soviet presence in the Mediterranean.
4. Only aircraft that might have participated in the strikes are present, no ASW/COD aircraft. Some of the F-14s have Tactical Airborne Reconnaissance Pod System (TARPS) loadouts. I also gave others CAP and escort loadouts. You WILL need to assign the TARPS missions (I use an AAW mission at low levels myself) to find targets (just like we used them in 1983).
5. The Mediterranean Amphibious Ready Group (MARG 2-83/CTF 61.1), centered on USS Iwo Jima LPH-2, is modeled as they were historically operating in support of the 24th MAU ashore. They are vulnerable to shore gunfire.
6. I set the NGFS gun line, CTF 60.2, in position but you will have to assign its mission.
7. Syrian aircraft might be flying CAP over the Bekaa Valley and certainly over Syria. The F-14 Tomcat Pheonix missile range has been restricted to 25nm to keep the Pheonix missiles from just having a field day with them. You get no points for shooting down the Syrian CAP so you just need to protect your aircraft from them. I suggest adjusting the Pheonix range in the WRA for individual aircraft/flights if the Syrian CAP become a threat.
8. Depending upon the time of your initial Air (Alpha) Strike you should be able to get two Alpha Stikes in during the day. Might not complete recovery of the second strike before the end of the scenario but that's OK. Happy hunting

Ulleungdo Island, 2018

Updated 7/13/18 to version 1.1, found and corrected a small, but important, error!

Very important: Created Under Version 1.14 - Build 998.9

Al “Beirutdude” Sandrik

The Time Is: 11 September 2018, 00:00 Zulu/10:00 Tokyo Time

Eastern Sea/Sea of Japan

Playable as USN

Up to 3 Days Duration

Background: A failed coup attempt on September 8th has resulted in civil war in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK – North Korea) and heavy, but confused, fighting is occurring across the North.

On 10 September 2018, at 20:43 UTC/11 September 2018 06:43 Tokyo Time the American Flag Ro/Ro Vessel M/V Alliance Norfolk was torpedoed and sunk by a rogue submarine. The survivors report being hit by two torpedoes and seeing a submarine briefly surface. Further, an ex-USN Surface Warfare Officer claims the vessel he saw was a Romeo Class submarine indicating a DPRK vessel.

Your mission, as commander of the USS Campbell, is to sink that submarine before more commercial vessels can be sunk. One problem is you are alone, the ROK and Japan do not want to take action due to the sensitive situation in the North and American naval assets in Japan have been evacuated due to a Category 5 Typhoon rapidly approaching the islands.
This is a very low complexity scenario with high replay value due to all units (including merchants) being teleported at the beginning. Also this is a good scenario for beginners. I did set up missions for Campbell and her Helios but if you want just delete them and set up your own. Your command is in EMissions CONtrol (EMCON) "Alpha," no emisions, so set your radars and ECM as you see fit for both.

HINT: Review the locked reference points to know the lay of the scenario and track of the typhoon then deselect them at the very beginning of the scenario.
