It's downloadable.
Next question: Is it installable... The world wonders...

/edit
Successfully installed.
Successfully launched 1.08 version

Do not have time to start a game tonight. Looks like it's out to me...

Denniss -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 10:23:41 AM)

From the filesize it looks to be the first revision which had problems with the german version. I can't dl it at the moment for a hash comparison.

I haven't checked if the language .xls for the German version works. So far, the English version works like ace! Thanks for the hard work lads!

Prussia -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 3:16:37 PM)

Hi all:

Downloaded v1.08 and I'm getting a 'not installed' error. I have the German version; and I have tried to install as admin, and not as admin, with the same result.

My WITE is installed on Drive G. Win 8.1; 16 gig memory; 7970 with 3gig with latest drivers and running at 2560x1440. Downloaded via Firefox.

Will try re-installing on Drive C (SSD). Will post result shortly.

Cheers.

Prussia -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 3:58:45 PM)

Reinstalled to C drive as admin, now getting 'Fatal Error Code#801... error with your game's serial number as currently configured...'. Really?

Double checked serial number entry and checked in serialreg.txt and it is entered correctly.

Will do registry cleanout; and a new clean install.

morvael -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 4:02:01 PM)

I have no experience with German versions. Maybe Denniss will help. English version installs fine on top of 1.07.15.

Denniss -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 4:35:55 PM)

I had no isue with the german version installed in the XP VM but I get this error once I moved it from the VM to my main computer as the serial number from the registry does not match the number stored inside some files in the installation folder.
Try running the game executable with Admin rights, sometimes it's an issue with the ggwite.exe that doesn't like running from c:\program files without admin rights.

Prussia -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 4:51:22 PM)

It's working now for some inexplicable reason- not that I'm complaining.

Thanks for all your tremendous efforts in bringing this to fruition.

charlie0311 -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 5:31:49 PM)

Hi all,

Sincere thanks to Morvael and others for sustained efforts..

schascha -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 5:32:55 PM)

I have a PBEM running.
What's your advise ????

KWG -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 5:34:58 PM)

Not seeing “SET COLOR” option for unit, unless at very bottom, resolution... can change screens later.

I think the vast majority of us really appreciate and understand what you are doing for us. This coming update wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the dedication of a few probably unpaid volunteers. The patch won't generate any money for the company so we should understand that you will release it when your schedule permits.

It's far better to release it after everything's been tested because those who complain it's taking too long are the first to complain that it hasn't been tested when things go wrong.

Thanks again for all your efforts. [&o][&o][&o]

I believe it may generate money for them as I am looking at purchasing this game after seeing the dedication but forth. If I like it like I'm sure I will - I imagine I will grab West front also. Sure is better than my sitting WiF and maps.

It's in the Unit Detail screen

schascha -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 7:26:05 PM)

I'm afraid, I was'nt very clear.
I'm playing a PBEM with 1.07.15.
Is it advisable to download this new one ????
Because I would like try it in another game.
But maybe it's better to do a copy, one for 1.07.15 and another one for 1.08;
If it's the case what's the best procedure to do it ???

RedLancer -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 7:29:42 PM)

Yes - what I did was copy 1.07.15 into a new folder and installed 1.08 on the original.

morvael -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 7:41:53 PM)

It is possible to continue older games, however a significant part of 1.08 features that depend on new generic data won't work (and a tiny part will behave badly) in games started under 1.07. We can't accept feedback from such games, only pure 1.08-based feedback will be important for possible fixes and tweaks. That said, I intend to continue my PBEM (started under 1.06 and running for 2+ years) under 1.08.

morvael -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 8:18:53 PM)

I need some time for that. Currently I'm overloaded with other issues and also my health is not at 100% right now.

I think the balance is pro-Axis in 41 and 42.

Prussia -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 8:42:40 PM)

Thanks again for your extraordinary efforts, but what is of primacy now: is your health. Concern yourself with that solely.

I'm sure we can muddle our way through in the time being; more so if the astute among us post their observations and learnings.

All the best.

Mehring -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/5/2014 9:07:53 PM)

Thanks Morvael, this looks like the single greatest improvement since the game's release with too many changes to take in, in such short time. A quick run through shows credible levels of captured equipment, at last. Will it be incorporated illicitly in the units that capture it, as historically? Can't wait to see what happens.

If you ever fancy moving on to Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich, you've probably got a good year of work [;)]

Mehring -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/6/2014 7:59:51 AM)

Just seen the Panhards in Axis pool and Char B flamer. Thanks again Morvael.

morvael -> RE: Any news on the 1.08 patch? (11/6/2014 8:29:44 AM)

Thank Denniss. I worked on the code, he worked on data.

Captured equipment will be used by units quite happily in case of shortages of own equipment. Please note that using captured equipment is blocked until October '41 and that some captured equipment will be converted to local (native) versions so you will see their pool & usage increase instead. But there is no guarantee which units will get - probably those needing them most at the moment, not those that captured.

I would like to point out that real refit must be performed out of the frontlines, otherwise units replenish in default replacement segment, not the prioritized one. On the other hand, unlike in earlier versions, they are able to switch to different equipment while on the frontlines. I also believe all encompassing 70/60% TOE limit for infantry units is now important to watch for and mitigate using rotation.

How did you copy it ????
By a simple drag and drop ????

That's a big step forward. Another one would be to represent "unofficial" use of captured equipment, particularly tanks and vehicles. Certainly in the Wehrmacht, this was more common than sending it to a central pool as the units were supposed to. That includes the use of large numbers of tanks/ACs by infantry formations which had no formal quota of such vehicles but pressed captured equipment into service sort of secretly, without reporting it, least high command ordered the vehicles centrally pooled for upgrades/conversions. One way to achieve such use might be to add a few empty vehicle slots to infantry divisions which can only be filled by equipment each division captures in combat, ie it's non-transferable.
