Right click on DW in your steam library, select properties, then click on the Beta tab. Opt in from there.



its simpley not working, there none of betas shown, none aviable

Version 1 of the beta crashed about 6 times during game play, until I got fed up with it and stepped down to the old stable version.

This version has not crashed at all, after 4 hours game play. Nice work on squashing those bugs!

Military Ships were all built with weapons except in one case ... the Securan Cruiser (again Fighter Bays only) which was built at Size 300 with no Fighter Bays. The AI built 6 of these with zero weapons in the test.

Still the same issue with 1.9.5.6 Beta for Fighter focused Cruisers in the AI Improvement Mod, but the other Military Shrinkages look good.

Has anything been done about the cargo storage bug ? It simply ruins the purpose of cargo components upgrades on stations, and maybe disturbs the ressource pricing system as well.

This was a great change for Military Ships.

It looks like it also changed the way Troop Transports are shrunk ... ? The AI Improvement Mod used that shrinkage for Troop Transports so that the AI's were not stuck with small designs all game. Can anything be done? Otherwise I have to give Troop Transports a major nerf.

AI empires still have problems since they are so bad at managing their spies. As a human player, I know how to properly babysit my spies to get them to really high stats...which completely skews the game since the AI can then no longer compete.

So now our spies are useful, but the AI can't keep one alive long enough for it to get good.

Just finished the first game of DW (1.9.5.6 beta2)ever that had no crashes. Stock game, no mods, hard, aggressive AI, 700 stars on an 8x8 with 12 civs. I have only had two games that I was seriously challenged in and this was the best. Good work, but the AI is still a bit klutzy. I still need a png dedicated to space forts so I do not have to see medium starbases as the default forts, too.
Also, I do not use spies as I consider them to be implausible and a cheat. So, the AI gets a freebie there. I also ignore all leaders.

I hope some modders wishes (like Icemania's and mine) are incorporated into the patch right now. That sure would explain the long silence.

I just installed the steam version and selected the beta opt in option in the properties menu. The 1.9.5.6 version is displayed when I start the game. I wanted to know if I had the 1.9.5.6.beta or 1.9.5.6.beta 2 so I had a look in the game directory for the change log. It appears that I only have the 1.9.5.6.beta.

I downloaded the beta 2 update and applied it manually. When I try to start the game I get an error window that says that Distworldrez.exe cannot be found.

I've uninstalled the stream version and am going back to a manual install. Does anyone know how to:
1) have steam install the latest beta automatically? (It is currently installing the 1.9.5.6.beta, not the latest which is the 1.9.5.6.beta 2.); and
2) start the game after applying an update manually to a steam installed version?

So, the latest beta patch still isn't on Steam and no one has heard from the devs for nearly a month. What's going on here? Did Matrix stop handing out paychecks or what?
