JSF -> BVR Combat Rating (8/29/2014 7:37:40 AM)

Stumbled over this one:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BVR_combat_rating_against_Upgraded_Su-27_Flanker_%28Full%29.PNG

Any opinions if this is valid?

Coiler12 -> RE: BVR Combat Rating (8/29/2014 10:21:29 AM)

The description says it was made by Eurofighter, and it coincidentally happens to make their fighter the second best after the specifically export-forbidden F-22. Hmmm....

Debunked long ago. IICR Bill Sweetman held their feet to the fire over this.

I see. Are there some neutral comparisons of BVR abilities around?

Way too contingent on specific situations. Is your hypothetical Su-35 a Russian plane backed by A-50s and a ton of ground radars, and crewed by handpicked pilots, or is it an oilocracy's toy with no supporting elements and a pilot chosen because he won't escape or bomb the palace? Is the attacker's plane a Top Gun backed by its own AWACS, or is it too a toy? How important is target indentification? Etc...

Ok. So it was rather naive to think that there are valid statistics, based on simulations, which lead to clear results.

You may check this:

lots of interesting stuff and basically not so far from your chart. Ofc, not counting mega super EF ;)
