Hey! Good idea! Ask for volunteers to go ask. Hurry up before they little yellow bastards ask for asylum, then we'll have to get them public housing and some kind of meal card.

************Outer defences of Palembang, January 15*************

Lt. Uppington-Smyth: <with megaphone> Attention! Japanese commander! I'm afraid the civil authorities have not been properly informed of your intentions. Have you your required work visas? Just because there is a war on is no reason to suspend the rule of law.

<a bullet promptly pierces the megaphone followed by derisive raughter from Japan-mens. The Lt ducks down behind cover>

Well! That's the way it shall be is it? I'm afraid I'm going to have to give a quite negative report to the provincial governor.

Japan-mens: Oh, prease not-ah negative report. Hahahahah

Cap Mandrake -> RE: At dawn we slept.....in the cab on the way back from Olongapo (4/24/2015 6:22:13 PM)

So a dad comes in with his 6 year old son and he writes down the complaint in a kind of patois Spanish. The verb conjugations are all wrong. No reflexive pronouns. Spelling errors. His spoken Spanish is no better. His Engrish even worse. I would call a translator but I'm not sure I could even put a name to the dialect.

I finally work out that he needs the forms signed to go to kindergarten. I fill them out and go to print out his vaccine record but there is none which means he got them somewhere else. We search the record. Nothing. I ask him in Spanish:

"Do you know where the vaccines were given?"

"Mexico"

At this point I am getting a bit annoyed at his helplessness, so I ask: "Normally the parents keep a card with that information?"

I think he can tell I am getting a bit annoyed so he switches to patois Engrish: "My wife, she dead"

"Ohhh." [:(] Christ! That is a damn good excuse! I feel like a jerk for getting impatient with him. Clearly, there is no hope for getting the records. "Right. We have to start over then"

Dad is very happy. 6 year old much, much less happy

After this I'll stop auto-spamming but I have good news!

I found the frozen shrimp I bought last week! The bad news is they were in the trunk of my Bavarian motor car. It was BAAAAD. I spent 10 minutes looking under the seats for a moldy hot dog or something and checked under the hood for a dead rat or snake or the neighbors cat. Then I gave up and went into Albertson's for some groceries. When I opened the trunk it was like Jeffery Daumer's house.

I'm just glad I didn't get pulled over by the Highway Patrol. [:)]

"knackered" [:D] Ah, the mother tongue has no shortage of funny specialty words.

After a tough series..."New York Knickerbockers Nearly Knackered"

After a honeymoon for Keira..."Knightly Knocked-up Nightly, Kanckered"

Or, after a sustained air battle..."Noumea Night-fighters Newly Knackered"
