Sykoticwit -> [ADDED v1.07] SM6/SM2 engagement logic (12/30/2014 3:49:59 AM)

Right now the AI launches interceptors at incoming missiles as soon as they're in range, so the first missiles used are SM-6's, then the SM-2's, then stuff like ESSM and SeaRAM. Is there any way to change the engagement logic so that the long range SM-6's are reserved for engaging aircraft and ships, and the AI lets missiles get into range of the SM-2's and shorter range missiles before engaging?

I was reading something a bit back, and wanted to experiment with it, thanks.

This will be one of the bigger features of 1.07 which is the next update. No release date penned yet but don't expect it to be too long of a wait.

Great news, Mike!

For now I usually enable Hold Fire if I have concerns about SAM allocation. It can be a pain for major raids as manually determining illuminator status' can be a big challenge.

Mike,

A chance to further incorporate the unit proficiency. A green unit might do things like leave their radars on, waste ammunition, etc. where a veteran or better unit, through their implied experience, is more survivable and more judicious. That may be a bit complex since i'm thinking like a veteran Patriot battery choosing NOT to engage a target which is heading towards another (handoff?) while a novice unit shoots at anything it detects. Maybe the LUA system will allow a "defend this" to allow engagement arcs for AD? Dear Santa, for next Xmas i'd like....
