March 27, 1942 Troops are in combat at Port Augusta. He will take it as I only have an engineer unit there to defend. Without AA support any units out in the open are dead meat for his bombers. he completely wiped out an American tank unit in 3 days when it was caught that way. I am starting to get pissed off. Strat moving everything I can into Calcutta. I am going to push hard on his advance in india and see where it gets me. He has mounted a really weak advance on this area and maybe I can surround or at least make his troups manuver. 4EB's moved over from the US will hit some of his ground troops out in the open tomorrow. We shall see if turnabout works well. Still 80+ days till the Hawaiian dept reorganizes into the south pacific. 50+ days until I get my first full USMC division. Starting to work out strategic goals for the end of the year. He has given me extra troops and I am considering some really bold moves. Direct attack from CT to Geraldton/Perth. Direct attack deep in the pacific. Taking out Noumea from NZ. Not sure what strategy might apply yet. Given it is not even April of 1942 I really cant counter attack yet but I need to know what my basic moves will be. He mentioned it getting crazy between June & July. Not sure but he still might be thinking about taking portions of Alaska and/or India. NZ could still be a target as well. He still has to mop up the Phillipines and Singapore and that will take resources as well. Right now strategically everything is at Pearl Harbor naval wise including the POW and Repulse. I have one CA and a bunch of DD's at wellington but everything else is at Pearl. What I would like to do is set up some sort of trap for NJP's carriers but it is really too early to formulate plans on that as the battlefield is too fluid. The advantage I have is that I know I can get his carriers to a battle, I need to be sure I can come out ahead when it happens. NJP has conquered all of the cities within the inner circle of China save Chungking. He has yet to begin an assault. I hope the blocking positions that I have set up in the mountains will help keep him from getting supplied although he now has a local source the factories were damaged to a degree. Within 3 weeks Chungking will get over 600AV and that will put it at about 3K. I do not expect to hold the city this game. Strategically though, he didnt lose last game due to not taking China. In fact, the chineese troops did not help very much in the taking of the continent. It was my outflanking move of having the british and Americans take the coastline that ultimately cut off and destroyed the Japanese Army. The Chinese were largely a liability with so many of them dying to any attack they made that really it wasnt worth using them most of the time. Australia is another matter. I have 1000AV + at both melbourne and sydney. Sydney has almost 400K supplies a lot of AA and will take some significant effort to overcome. Melbourne is the same situation with less supply. Again though, Australia was not really used by me in the last war effort. Supply flowed from America to Rabaul when it fell and also from CT to Perth. I can re-route the supply from CT wherever I want on the west side of the map and right now I have a lot of ships building up that supply. Right now it seems like Australia might be the tar baby I want him to keep... I would appreciate any suggestions from the peanut gallery on targets, traps, etc.
