Why would the Marines need to defend against an enemy shore bombardment? I think they are planning for highly distributed operations in the western Pacific etc.. where some organic self-contained protection might be needed.

Because that marine is not the other marine. Fishes can stay in water as long as they like, but humans can’t.

Meanwhile, CCTV4 news reported 054A SAM drill revealed a new type of missile, as people called it “HQ-16C”. Notice the radical difference compare to older HQ-16 as well as BUK designs:

"The story about Iranian short-range ballistic missiles loaded onto ships boils down to a change in pattern of what is in all likelihood a smuggling operation of missiles to Yemen. There are various, not necessarily mutually exclusive, explanations for this change ranging from purely internal regime dynamics to a potential change of operational requirement for missiles in the Yemeni theatre."

But it's an educated guess at this point.

Dysta -> RE: Naval and Defense News (5/15/2019 2:03:18 AM)

FCC ignores DoD’s warning as to begin the 24GHz-based 5G network auctioning. This spectrum is very close to weather satellites’s 23.8GHz and likely cause interference for weather forecasting. Some trolls in ARS suggests that China also uses that spectrum as a ‘weapon’ to jam US satellites and telecom facilities:

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2019/05/5g-networks-will-likely-interfere-with-us-weather-satellites-navy-warns/

EDIT: DoD surveyed and published the PDF report at April 2019. There’s a detail about FCC’s decisions in it:

Kevin,

We've got some 500 items included in the whole Dropbox site now with 87 members. Don't think we need a separate table of contents as browsing through the entries is pretty easy and breaking it up into more than the four main categories (Illustrated Guides, Cyberware and Espionage, Lua Code Samples & Reference) is likely not going to be of much value - at least until it gets larger!

Now I understand why posting sensitive references for improving game features closer to real world counterpart is not a good thing. That means those informations are still on effect by today’s military, and will be deemed as ‘malicious leak’ when posting it. Such mistake can grant some jail time in some countries.

I think it’s wiser to make CMANO just as fun as learning some general knowledges about modern combats, not trying to prove what asset can do with real but sensitive references.

Not news but an opinion. Looking at the FFG-X program I am convinced the winner will be the legend class derived patrol frigate. The independence derivative will be unable to mound hull sonar due to its water jets same as the independence class. The Alvaro de bazan class is too short range and already took expensive for the programs price cap so even removing aegis would put it too high over the price when the other changes are considered. FREMM is a potential candidates but simply put too big at 6700 tons. Only the legend class derivative is built in the us has the range required fits the size wanted and can be made for the right price

ELTA Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), was awarded a “significant” contract to supply ELM-2311 Compact Multi-Mission Radars (C-MMR) to the Finnish Defense Forces. Operationally proven, the radars will provide the Finnish Army with the capability of locating and tracking incoming Rockets, Artillery shells, and Mortars (RAM), and shall provide an interface for alerting the Army’s counter weapons systems. Supporting multi-mission capabilities, the radar can simultaneously operate as Artillery Weapon Location and Air Surveillance radar, thereby seriously inhibiting an opponent’s use of aerial threats.
