Wait a second, their nukes? If I remember correctly, Germany is not having any nukes, but is part of the nuclear deterrance strategy of NATO (Nukleare Teilhabe - nuclear participation) -> US is (in case of "emergency") releasing the use of nuclear weapons, that will be carried to the target on german systems (mostly airborne). We have 2020, the Cold War ended 1989/1990? Why is this still existing? EA-18Gs make at least some sense (most modern OECM platform), but 30 F/A-18Fs just for this old and today useless requirement? And if my memory serves correct, neither F/A-18E nor F are at the moment cleared to carry and use B61 thermonuclear bombs (probably the one in "use" for this case, and that since the 1960s!). Honestly, if this is the reason for the planned purchased, it is quite a ****ty one. After praising and changing the specifications of the Eurofighter to fill some of the Tornados capabilities (which the F/A-18F can't all fulfill).
