I think US military is already well-aware the terminology “Hypersonic” before 21st century. And if China is also building a supercarrier with equivalent if not superior to the US Navy counterpart, then China should worry the same from what US/NATO have about (sub-)hypersonic weaponries in near future.

But I am more concerned about a weapon that entirely negate every close-air point defenses, like this one:

[image]https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/744539305351053374/854293950998511646/image0.png[/image]
(From https://twitter.com/jpg2t785/status/1403847795304402946)

The air-launch, high speed diving anti-ship missile-torpedo (torpessile?) was leaked as a rumor that Chinese military is being curious about. It doesn’t require Mach >5 at the terminal phrase to penetrate shipborne point defenses, but rather entirely render them irrelevant by submerge into water and supercavitate toward the ship, no CIWS or missile can intercept it when it’s submerged, unless some hard-kill anti-torpedo countermeasures are already in service.

Croatia will buy 12 secondhand Dassault Rafale fighter jets from France to modernize its air force, including fleet support and training
Croatia’s government has selected the Dassault Aviation Rafale for its Air Force following an international call for tenders as part of its Multi Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) program to replace its current MiG-21s.

In the government-to-government deal worth €999 million, the Croatian Air Force will receive 12 secondhand Rafale that were previously in service with the French Air Force, as well as fleet support and training.

France is to deliver the first six aircraft in 2024, with the remainder following in 2025. The deal includes 10 single-seat models and 2 two-seat models.

Croatia will be the fifth Rafale export customer, confirming the advanced technological and operational abilities of the latest-generation, combat proven, multirole fighter.

Rafael networks Python-5 short-range air-to-air missile with Global Link SDR

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has enhanced its fifth-generation Python-5 short-range air-to-air missile (AAM) with a networked capability, enabling it to acquire targets in a tactical air-to-air environment from associate aircraft equipped with the company's Global Link software-defined radio (SDR) system.

Based on Rafael's proprietary BNET technology, Global Link is an advanced airborne multiband (VHF/UHF+L) high-automation IP MANET (mobile ad hoc network) SDR, designed to augment the exchange of secure information between modern fighter aircraft in tactical operations. MANET is a multihop, self-configuring, and autonomous network that uses intermediate mobile nodes as a router and transmits data between mobile devices.

Using Multi-Channel Reception (MCR) technology, Global Link simultaneously supports legacy (AM/FM) communication and advanced MANET waveforms with high-capacity data, digital voice, video, and automatic multiple relays to create a tactical network between fast-jets that not only delivers enhanced airborne situational awareness but also provides an uplink to Rafael's Python-5 and other AAMs.

As a consequence, a modern fighter aircraft equipped with Global Link is able to launch a Python-5 AAM towards a target that is derived from the tactical network and not from its own radar, Yaniv Rotem, Marketing and Business Development director, Air-to-Air Missiles, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, told Janes. According to Rotem, no additional transceiver is required to be installed on the aircraft because the same SDR enables the uplink functions to the missile.

Switzerland’s government backed the purchase of 36 Lockheed Martin F-35A fighter jets to replace its fleet and five Patriot air defense units from fellow US manufacturer Raytheon.

At five billion francs, the procurement costs were around two billion francs cheaper than the second-lowest bidder, said the government.

Lockheed Martin said on Twitter, adding in a video that the first jet would be delivered in 2025.

Turkish drone Manufacturer unveils first conceptual design images of Unmanned Combat Warplane MIUS (#MİUS) project. It will be able to take-off and land on TCG Anadolu LHD. In missions where radar invisibility is not at the forefront, their ammunition will also be under the wing. We are running the MIUS project with our own resources.

MIUS will operate at a cruising speed close to the speed of sound. The next prototypes will be supersonic, going above the speed of sound.

MIUS will be able to land and take off from LHD-class short-runway ships. He will be able to take off without the help of the catapult and land on the ship with the help of catch cables and hooks.

"MIUS will have ~1.5 tons of ammunition & payload capacity. It will be able to carry air-to-air, air-to-ground smart missiles and cruise missiles. MIUS will have aggressive maneuverability. Thus, it will be able to autonomously perform interception, avoidance and close combat maneuvers thanks to the artificial intelligence computers we have developed.
Our goal is to perform the first flight of our MIUS prototype in 2023.

It will be able to carry munitions in internal weapons bay, so that it has a stealth design"

Hostile Harbors: Taiwan’s Ports and PLA Invasion Plans
Published by Ian Easton at July 22, 2021

By: Ian Easton |

The scale of an all-out Taiwan (Republic of China, ROC) invasion by the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) military—the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)—defies human comprehension and would likely eclipse any historical comparison. In this important contribution to the field, Senior Director Ian Easton analyzes Chinese military studies frameworks and internal PLA documents to answer pressing questions that will help Taiwan and the United States both understand and better plan for potential crisis scenarios. He highlights the centrality of ROC port facilities—and Taiwan’s ability to defend them—in the PLA’s potential invasion plans for Taiwan, illustrating likely operational strategies explored by PLA leadership. In addition to postulating ports likely targeted in a PLA invasion, he provides recommendations that the Taiwanese government could undertake to ensure its port infrastructure security, as well as recommendations for the United States on how to be a supportive partner to Taiwan in that effort.

Very interesting PDF (unfortunately not attachable) at: https://project2049.net/2021/07/22/hostile-harbors-taiwans-ports-and-pla-invasion-plans/

Also a good one for scenario developers![X(]

But also look through the page for more concepts and impressions like the LongShot SUAS, currently in development with DARPA. And the SUAS prototype from GA-ASI, teaming with U.S. Army rotorcraft to support stand-in jamming, suppression of enemy air defenses, artillery missions and more. !

Looks tricky to pick them up in stormy weather..!
