It'll be arcadey which is still fun sometimes. I had a lot of fun with Navy Field. As a minor callout to a different arcadey style game, I actually really enjoyed a smaller indie game called "Victory at Sea" on Steam. It has a "campaign mode" (which is more like a modern day Sid Meier's Pirates) and your successes give you "War Bonds" (LOL) as a currency, but as you gain xp you unlock bigger ships and can eventually compose a fleet of up to 20 ships to run amok in the various theaters (looked like there was Pacific, Med, and I think Atlantic as the third. Arcadey but it's fun to unleash the big guns, and the best thing was that you can alter the speed of the game (including fully on pause) which is useful especially since some of the fleet wide order mechanics don't work as well as I'd like. You can also let the AI control the ships you don't want, which of course can have mixed results. My first missions were to compromise supply shipping to the Wotje Atoll, and doing so hurt its supplies which made the base easier to take (I needed less landing ships, which spawn automatically, to land to take the base). I ran around with a few Fletchers, and eventually added some Portlands to the fleet which let me take the smaller atolls.
