Major deployment of new applications at work is completed, as well as most of the "clean up" afterward. I may actually get to relax this weekend! [8D]

Then an Irish seven course meal - a six pack and a potato. Grab a six pack, a bag of chips, then sit down and watch a game . . .

Six packs tend to come in cans. Buy the whole case in bottles. And get the 2 for 1 family size chips/crisps.

RangerJoe -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (9/21/2019 10:04:58 AM)

Around here, I can get six packs in bottles. Some brands don't come in cans here, at least I haven't seen them.

fcooke -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (9/21/2019 10:29:14 AM)

Sadly I am stuck on the East Coast of the US where PBR, Miller Lite, Bud Lite, and Bud have large followings. I literally fumble for my wallet when I see something like 'Old Speckled Hen' on offer. But thankfully the craft beer industry has made inroads so there are alternatives to the mass market offerings.

Advice needed here. My doctor advises five fruit or veg a day and exercise. If it is made from hops and barley and there is a lot of running in the game would that count?

RangerJoe -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (9/21/2019 1:55:12 PM)

The exercise would be the 12 or 16 ounce curls as you bring the beverage container to your lips. The vegetable would be the dehydrated potatoes. One ounce of chips takes four ounces of potatoes. Add in any dip to include dairy. The beer is considered liquid bread, is full of trace minerals including silica which is needed for strong bones.

To help pass a kidney stone, drink lots of beer. To keep from getting them or dissolving one, drink or use an acetic acid solution commonly called vinegar.

I think any acidic juice will do the trick, so I prefer cranberry juice to vinegar.
When I was in hospital years ago the guy in the next bed had kidney stones. I overheard the doctor's bedside advice to drink a lot of water and eat little additional salt beyond that already in our foods when we buy them. Continuous flushing by normal osmosis of excess water is easy on the kidney. When it has to expend energy to do reverse osmosis (because the blood is not hydrated enough), it concentrates the salts and they may or may not make it out of the body with the remaining liquid. Dark yellow, pungent urine is a warning sign.

RangerJoe -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (9/21/2019 6:20:54 PM)

I know that I had a kidney stone removed surgically but they did not cut the skin. [X(]

The next 9mm one I passed with very little pain. I drank 4 ounces of vinegar several times a day for a few days. When it came out, it was as smooth as a river stone.

I eat more salt to get my sodium up and my potassium down. I have been in a situation where my sodium was too low and my potassium was too high. I felt like [sm=Crazy-1271.gif]

A few beers (Octoberfest season), some pretzels, and a hockey game were all consumed this weekend! [8D]

Thinking of you and your Orioles at the end of this regular MLB season, USS Mike. It looks like the Tigers are positioned to get into the record books again with >110 losses. With 6 games left, your Orioles are standing at 105 losses, but will probably not supplant Detroit as the worst team in MLB *this* year.

You should have taken my bet earlier this season. [:'(]

ETA: Hey Kansas-how about them Royals? [:'(]

nashvillen -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (9/23/2019 6:17:18 PM)

Oh, great... What a horrible, but wonderful Monday it is.

Just over a year ago, I hired this great employee who went the extra mile, did everything we asked. He wasn't perfect, but he was a great asset to our organization. Now, after a huge salary bump this last year he has been offered and accepted a position out of state for 50% more and doing less. Happy for the guy, it is where his family is and all his friends. But, man, it is going to be hard to replace him. We have been able to get him from where he was a year ago to be able to be qualified for this great position. A true bittersweet moment in my career.

I had to put that somewhere, and you guys are a great sounding board.

Maybe he'll come back some day. Or maybe he'll be in a position to help you.

Yeah, weren't we talking about 115 losses for the over/under? [:D]

Less than 2 weeks until Opening Night for the NHL and my Carolina Hurricanes! [8D]

Yeah, bittersweet is a great description. Send him out of the nest to fly on his own. [:)]

Yeah, I hear ya. But if someone is offered 50% more-for doing less-they'd be foolish not to accept it. Especially if the location was nearer their 'home'. If he's leaving after a huge salary bump to get 50% more somewhere else, that's probably also an indicator that he was substantially underpaid previously too. I'm happy for him, but it's a let down for you and your organization.

Sorry man. I cut it back to 105 over/under after you hesitated. Too bad you didn't take the bet. Sucker. [:'(]
