ORIGINAL: RangerJoe Well, Hell.no has a warning for icing on ships and boats. Does that mean that Hell,no froze over or is freezing over? It is not supposed to get above freezing there until next Monday. Maybe Orm could get more information on this situation since he does live near there. I don't think it's a good idea to tell a Swede that he is a Norwegian ...[:-] I did not state that he is a Norwegian, I merely pointed out that he lives near there. The languages are mutually intelligible so he could call over there and ask . . . And so could you, my friend. Swedes, and Norwegians, understand each other well enough. But there is some risk for serious misunderstandings if one is not careful. Many words has switched their meanings in the different languages. Almost all in Scandinavia talk English well enough for a normal conversation. That is the problem with the various forms of the English language as well where words, especially slang terms, have changed their meanings. "Knock up" is a fine example of that! I understand that the #1 foreign language in Denmark is American English.
