Yeah, it was amazing all the 1 HP motors my father found to put on many devices on the farm that were hand cranked when my brother and I were there in high school! Corn sheller, Honey seperator, there were others, but that was more years ago than I want to count this morning...

I try to pry my kids away from their electronics to do such things whenever I can. Character developoment, I call it! [:D]

nashvillen -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (2/10/2016 1:51:02 PM)

Good Morning! Our "dusting" of snow has become around two inches... Kids are out of school again, today. May even be out tomorrow as the temps are staying down and the cloud cover is remaining.

Good morning all. -8F this morning. We have some spare arctic air to send your way. No, no. No need to thank us, we are here to help.

Monday was a total total screw up by the national weather service. Sunday no travel advised by the computer models. Lifted at midnight. Monday was even worse and nothing by the weather service until a 12 vehicle crash 50 miles North of here. Including two semi's and two state partol cars. Then the state started to shut down the roads. The CDL drivers are being charged with care required. Are you kidding me. The National weather service lifted the travel advisory. Then the pile up happened and and hour later closed all highways out of Grand Forks 40 miles South to the Canadian border and West at Lakota to Crookstons Minnesota. The Semi drivers were at fault. Give me a break. WTF. You thinkl I like federal goverment. Hmmm. Look out the freaking window not the computer models. Idiots. Another one coming in tonight. Lets see how they handle this one.

Mundy -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (2/13/2016 3:11:57 PM)

Last Sunday was really bad. That was why we didn't stop as we passed through. We were down to 30mph in spots on the interstate. Overall, we added an hour to our normally 12 hour trip.

nashvillen -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (2/13/2016 7:31:51 PM)

When the folks from NoDak say it is bad, it is really bad! Take care!

Schanilec -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (2/13/2016 10:03:00 PM)

Sunday was somewhat nasty. Monday was worse. So you didn't go the highway 2 route. Sorry I missed you guys, I was looking forward to it. And you missed the snarling white hot ball of canine fury. RB, my 6 month old, 73,3 lb Yellow Labrabor Retriever from Waunakee Wisconsin. Just North of Madison. See you next time. Maybe meet at the lake. Less than a quater mile off highway 2 7 miles East of Bemidji 7 miles West of Cass Lake. Both places are easy to reach off Highway 2 and equal distance from Highway 2.
Another storm moving in tonight. Not calling it a blizzard yet. But the weather service had better beware. After Mondays screwup, better to be safe than sorry.

Hey Nash we are offering some very fresh arctic temps down your way. Aah, aah, aah. No need to thank us. Our pleasure. And what did I hear on the weather channel....Arctic Vortex. Yes it finally spewed from thiers mouths this winter season. Plus gobal change to cover thier sorry asses.

Next time Ed. summertime do highway 2. I can see you crossing into North Dakota from my house. You poor bastards.[:D]

Schanilec -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (2/13/2016 10:14:58 PM)

This is true. When I heard bitter cold in Boston at 20F. I was WTF after I got up to -17F to grabb some more firewood. Dangerous -31F wind chills over there. That is what I went to work in. I shut my mouth on here because that is an normal day and it be tiresome to sat it on the thread. Now if it was -30F and a
-100F wind chill I might say something. The Weather Channel are a bunch of weather terrorists. Too hot, Too cold. It is all our fault. Never have I heard from them on the cause of warmer temps on Mars. I'm not saying. I'm just saying.[sm=00000976.gif]

Yeah, thanks![8|] Gonna get below zero here tonight. I know you guys get it a lot worse, but not normal here. Oh well, 50F by Tuesday.[:D]

BTW as a snowmobiler I am familiar with the extreme cold. The lowest was -25F for me, loved it. If it hit zero when I rode I had to open all my zippers to keep from overheating.[:D] I will say the one and only time I got to ride Yellowstone it hit -40F the day we were leaving, I later told my friend I would not have ridden that day.

Just an FYI, at some point in the minus(-) degree temps wind chill no longer has a measurement as it has no effect. Off hand I forget exactly where that is but its somewhere around -30.[:'(]

We went up via Superior, so we took 2 all through MN. Probably an extra hour added from that route. I wanted to take my friend to Thirsty Pagan Brewery there. If we weren't planned to get to Minot, we could have screwed around all day there.

We did leave Minot via 2 again and cut south to Fargo. The crap weather was following us that ways, so that stretch was worse. Probably 50 miles into MN on 94 did the roads get better. Temps gradually went up as we went east.

nashvillen -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (2/14/2016 2:32:33 PM)

You northern types, I grew up as one of you in Upstate NY in the 60's and 70's. I do know what negative temps without a wind chill are like. I can also relate to being so bundled up I needed to open some zippers to keep from sweating and chilling more.

Today, it is hovering around freezing and all I put on this morning is a flannel shirt over my t-shirt. [:D]

Yes, the born and bread southerners look at me like I am crazy.

nashvillen -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (2/14/2016 2:32:51 PM)

And, while I am down here...

nashvillen -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (2/14/2016 2:33:03 PM)
