Thanks for the interesting topic, I learned a lot.

Orm -> RE: Las Vegas as it grows. (11/2/2019 10:58:35 PM)

So what is up for the winter season?

Orm -> RE: Las Vegas as it grows. (4/13/2020 5:39:30 AM)

So how is Las Vegas handling the current situation?

It would be a good time to come to miss the crowds. But all casinos are locked up. People here are antsy, most I've talked to want the governor to lift the business shutdown. Getting back to regular routine is what they want.

I suppose you could argue they are essential[:D]. But yes they are closed as well. Liquor stores are open, though no in store purchase(delivery only). Its weird, grocery stores(essential) are open and they sell liquor. Gas stations, car mechanics, box hardware stores.(Lowes,Home Depot all considered essential.)

One more month of this has passed. Is Vegas still holding out? Or has any major companies declared bankruptcy? Does the new sport franchises suffer badly?

Zap -> RE: Las Vegas as it grows. (5/6/2020 8:50:19 PM)

Hey Orm,

Still the Casinos are waiting. Not sure what their finacial conditions are. Smaller ones most likely hurting more. Mid May I read 3 on the strip may open. with 50% capacity allowed. Every other Slot machine will be closed to allow social distancing. Gambling is still a big part of their revenue.

This whole thing has hurt badly and will continue to hurt the casino business. My personal belief is open up the whole state completely. Those who don't want to come in and feel they need to stay distance can follow their own social distancing. There should be no liability on the part of a business being open. Make it a free choice for each individual. They want to wear a mask, fine. you don't want to wear a mask fine as well.

As I recall this activity is illegal in the city limits. You have to go to the city of Pahrump to find legal activities of this type. Ha! Not that I've ever been there mind you!

correct. And I'm sure you never have been.

I'm back to doing Uber so I do get a feel from the people who visit and locals.
Las Vegas. A City I happily promote except for now. People are still coming. Some are happy with their visits even though their are restrictions. Others are not as enthused. Because of Covid 19 limitations.
1.Mask- are required at Casinos, some Casinos are more strict then others about them. If you are seen by an employee with your mask below your nose they will call you out. Other local casinos don't do that.
2.Hotels are limited to 50% capacity. But visitation as of now does not fill the casinos to 50%. Many people for whatever reason (no spending money, afraid of covid19) keeps them away.
3. Casinos have offered reduced rates to incentivize visitors. That has caused its own problems. Many of the lower rates have brought in undesirables. Young males who are loud and full of testosterone. So fights have been breaking out on the strip along will killings. So the Casinos have hurt themselves with the bad reputation these low-lifes have brought to Las Vegas. Police have, after 4 weeks of violence, taken a all hands on approach to quell the violence. They now saturate the strip at nights.80 arrest were made last weekend.
4. Buffets have been closed a few reopened but they are like restaurants. Your food is brought to you. Peoples, opinion of the experience in not favorable.
5.No conventions, or live shows
6. Construction continues on 2 Casinos. One will be 4000 (Resorts World) room the other in the older part of Vegas, called Freemont Street. They, will not allow anyone under 21 years old in their casinos. Adults only
7. Convention center expansion continues.
8. Elon Musk under-ground transport construction continues. Elon just put in a petition to Las Vegas to lengthen the tunnel
9. Too slowly the Governor is moving to relax restrictions. Continues to hurt businesses and peoples lives here.

Thank you for the update. [:)]

Sounds like the situation remain tough. [:(]

Zap -> RE: Las Vegas as it grows. (5/11/2021 1:56:23 AM)

Las Vegas is at 80% capacity and in June 100% capacity in hotels and restaurants. Social distancing is reduced to 3feet. Streets are packed again with visitors. Desperate people celebrating their need for a return to normalcy, Happy people packing Freemont street no masks and drink in hand. Happy, happy, people.

The end of June will mark the opening of the 4 billion dollar casino (Resort Worlds) repaving of Las Vegas Blvd. (much needed). Add to that the first newly constructed casino on Freemont Street in over 45 years (called Circa). Things are looking up for the one of the worlds premiere vacation spots.

Just announced no more social distancing in Vegas. The obstacle, is the Mask. But with the new CDC change in Mask that should not be long in being cleared.

Well, now with the social distancing requirement leaving, maybe the birth rate will go back up. [;)]

Yeah, I heard that if you got the vaccine then you can drop the mask. That's all I can say, who said it and what's behind it, never mind... I don't want to have another thread shut down from my ramblings.
