Well, I've only had a couple of turns with the new beta patch, but I must say, I am over the moon with it! The zoom option and the formation designations on the chits are worth their weight in Gold. Almost all of my original gripes have been answered swiftly and with consideration. Thanks for all your hard work with this title. You had me when the smoke started, but now I can play it at a decent visual level with more immersion, and I can tell a lot more from the chits, plus the smoke stays after a save game. Keep up the good work folks!

Hi Jim,

As a reviewer, please make the build version clear on an intro page.

It's a bit subtle, but you should be able to see it on the top right corner of the splash screen when the game loads.

Regards,

- Erik

I agree with spelk. Kudos on the patch. Many of the irritants I found in playing the game have been replaced with more user-friendly graphics and buttons.

Thanks!

Great to hear! Thank you for the feedback.

Yogi the Great -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 1:30:15 AM)

Do I assume correctly that 1.02 Beta will not become official version and instead will be replaced by 1.03 when it becomes official?

Michael T -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 1:31:47 AM)

For this latest beta, 1.03 - No Zoc fix?

oldspec4 -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 1:36:47 AM)

Question regarding the option not to zoom out during combat resolution. Do I have to re-set to off every time I open the game?, i.e., I set to off in the options but it reverts to on when opening a saved game. Is this WAD?

Gil R. -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 1:37:21 AM)

Michael T,
You missed my post#27, in which I said it's there, but was left out of the list of changes

Yogi the Great,
It is my understanding that 1.02 will come out first. It's been delayed by the May 1 holiday in Europe, among other factors.

Clinchrifles -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 1:54:52 AM)

Im sure it was really all of us. TBH i think a lot of people who play this game still do not know what the hell is going on (thats a good thing)

Sorry-either drunk or quote didnt work right. This was a reply to Gil saying units in enemy zoc ooc has been fixed.

Gil R. -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 2:00:35 AM)

If "Drunk History" can be a thing, why not "Drunk Wargame Assessment"? [:)]

I've noticed this as well too-- the game doesn't seem to save the setting on zoom out, unlike the other options.

But really great beta in general. I can not emphasize how much the formation indicators on the Nato counters make the game so much more immediately understandable and accessible. As I mentioned elsewhere, I still hope small squares can be also added to those counters ranging from green to red to indicate strength and morale.

But great job on this beta! It's huge improvements to an already fascinating system.

Excellent, I can't start my PBEM. Thanks [:)]

FroBodine -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 7:13:52 AM)

All the new additions are wonderful! Thank you for all your hard work on this patch! I hope it becomes official soon.

One problem - when the OOB is opened, you cannot scroll the map to the left by moving the mouse to the left edge of the screen.

Brambo -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 12:04:28 PM)

Thanks Gil, some really nice work there and very fast to get it in. I still would like to give different orders to elements of a brigade. I'm playing a PBEM game atm and my brigade is holding a bridge, my cav unit belonging to that brigade is pretending to be a whole brigade by himself in some woods and is doing an excellent job of holding up an enemy reinforcing brigade. The only trouble is, he has the brigade order of hold which is hampering his movement. The game is great and the maps are very nice.

I was still able to move the cursor to the far upper left edge or bottom left edge and have the map scroll with 1.03Beta. Just not the middle left edge of the screen.

Thanks
Rick

FroBodine -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 5:06:07 PM)

Ok, thank you Rick. I will try that. I still hope this can be improved.

Ironclad -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/2/2015 7:02:34 PM)

Installed 1.03 beta, loaded an existing AI game to look at it, first went to the OOB and game stopped working when I clicked on the OOB extension arrow. Repeated this when I tried again.

LuckyJim1010 -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/3/2015 7:20:01 AM)

Is long range movement working for anyone else?
I cannot get it to work.

AlessandroD -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/3/2015 8:12:38 AM)

Yes, I just do it now. Is the Command Radius Toggle ON?

I can't reproduce this in general. Which scenario?

FroBodine -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/3/2015 6:50:17 PM)

Where is the option to not zoom out during combat resolution, please?

Chromey -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/4/2015 5:35:59 AM)

Hey all where does one find the patches for 1.02 and 1.03?

Once you're playing a scenario:

Under OPTIONS:

And then SCREEN DRAWING OPTIONS:

(About half the way down. "Zoom Out during Combat" Set it to OFF.

They are beta patches, therefore you can find them in the member area -> my products.

Williamsburg standard.

Gil R. -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/4/2015 8:46:56 AM)

There's a chance this was caused by a significant change I made to the OOB, replacing McClellan with Sumner as the top Union commander. (This was discussed somewhere in the forum -- McClellan arrived on the battlefield around 5:00, while Sumner was running the show before that.)

I don't know how the code works, but it's possible that this change would affect ongoing Williamsburg games.

See Post #29 above.

Btw, I'm sticking with the original zoom out for combat results. For me, it just seems to work better visually than the zoom in.

shoelessbivouac -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/4/2015 7:08:19 PM)

Wow! That was fast! (I just echoed others this morning for an option not to zoom out during combat resolution.)
Will give this a try. Thank you.

Chromey -> RE: Brother Against Brother V1.03beta now available for testing!! (5/4/2015 9:16:49 PM)

It would be really nice to be able to move the camera around during the combat results page so we can better monitor situations.

I assume this is with the zoom out turned off. It should at least jump to where the action is for each firefight. Otherwise, what's the use of adding the zoomed in feature if it doesn't move the camera to each of the shooting units during the resolution phase?
