Now that Rangoon has fallen get massive fighter cover there and set up three Tfs if at least a dozen liberty ships each bringing in supplies for China in a rotation. You will suffer some attrition to anti shipping air assets in Bangkok that leak through the CAP, but you will succeed in supplying China. As times goes on add more TFs or add more ships to the three.

August 19, 1943 Highlight for Today Since the Allied invasion of the four southern Marianas Islands, El Lobo has been building up Chichi-jima, Haha-jima, Iwo-jima, and Pagan. Over 30,000 troops with supporting fighter and bomber aircraft garrison each of the aforementioned islands. Synopsis of Combat Events for August 19, 1943 1.) Each day Japanese bombers start more fires than the Chinese can put out. 2.) Japanese bombed near Toungoo (hex 56,51). Fifteen Helens were damaged without inflicting a single Allied casualty. 3.) The 15th Indian Division shock attacked near Pegu (hex 56,53). The Indians suffered minimal casualties while inflicting moderate Japanese casualties and forced the Japanese to retreat. Though I am not fond of ordering the infantry to attack either location, I am less fond of having the Allies sit in Burma for several more months. Operation Land Shark needs to drive into China and head for Manchukua and Korea. The Allies have 24 artillery units southwest of Toungoo. The artillery will commence to pound the 226,000 Japanese troops occupying the jungle. Allied Warhawks, Lightnings, Airacobras, Hurricanes, Mitchells, Liberators, and Fortress' are flying into position to bomb both locations. The Allies will wait a month or so for the artillery and bombers to disrupt some Japanese squads and for the Japanese to run low on supply. The Allies will attack the Japanese at Pegu sometime around mid September. Not exactly sure yet when the Allies will attack the Japanese southwest of Toungoo. Best Regards, -Terry

Hans- The Allies will ship supply to Rangoon as soon as Captain Haggard clears the mines laid by the enemy and as soon as the Allies have smashed the Japanese air force in the vicinity of Rangoon. August 20, 1943 Highlight for Today The Operation Stockpile Fleet is 1,200 miles northwest of Pearl and 2,000 miles southeast of Guam presently moving at 12 knots. Synopsis of Combat Events for Today 1.) Japanese bombed Chungking. Everything is shredded and on fire. 2.) Japanese bombed near Toungoo (hex 56,51). 2 Helens were destroyed and 9 Helens were damaged. The Allies did not suffer any casualties. 3.) Japanese bombed near Chiang Mai (hex 57,52). The Americal Division suffered minimal casualties. 4.) Allies bombarded southwest of Toungoo (hex 56,51). Army 41st Infantry Division is marching to cross the river into the hex to close off the last hex-side. The 41st is 32 miles away from crossing the river. 3.) The Operation Stockpile Invasion Fleet is 1,440 miles northwest of Pearl Harbor and 1,760 miles southeast of Guam. Synopsis of Combat Events for Today 1.) Japanese bombed Chungking. Hearing Aide Centers have reported a substantial increase in patrons. 2.) Japanese bombed near Toungoo (hex 56,51). 2 Helens were destroyed and 13 Helens were damaged whereas the Allies did not suffer a single casualty. 3.) Your conquest of the Marianas was a master stroke. It looks like the way west is open with the Islands along that path with a large harbor at Babeldaod defended by around 10,000 troops. Capture that and neighboring Pelilu, which has just over 1,000 troops and the door to his DEI Easter oil fields are open.

August 22, 1943 Highlight for Today 1.) Chinese captured Moulien. 2.) The Operation Stockpile Fleet has reached the vicinity of Wake Island. The Fleet is 1,660 mile northwest of Pearl Harbor and 1,520 miles southeast of Guam. Synopsis of Combat Events for Today 1.) E Shimushu hits SS Grunion twice near Hachijo-jima (hex 116,67). 2.) Japanese bomb Chungking. It is brighter at night in Chungking than during the day. If the Chinese had any food, they could have three hundred thousand barbecues. 3.) Japanese bombed near Toungoo (hex 56,51). The Japanese lost four Helens and seven Helens were damaged. The Allies did not suffer a single casualty. 4.) Chinese shock attacked and captured Moulien. 5.) Allies bombarded near Toungoo (hex 56,51) inflicting moderate casualties upon the Japanese. Six Japanese Divisions and an Infantry Regiment (1st RTA Division, 17th Division, 19th Division, , 33rd Division, 38th Division, 56th Division, and the 41st Infantry Regiment) shock attacked three U. S. Army Divisions and the BFF brigade (Americal Division, 24th Infantry Division, 41st Infantry Division, and the BFF Brigade) near Chiang Mai (hex 57,52). The Japanese suffered 11,695 casualties. The Allies suffered 992 casualties. For the 226,000 Japanese troops that were "this close" to being trapped southwest of Toungoo, El Lobo has opened-up a path of retreat for those troops to Thailand. 2.) The Operation Stockpile Fleet moving at 11 knots is 2,360 miles northwest of Pearl Harbor and 840 miles southeast of Guam. Synopsis of Combat Events for Today 1.) August 26, 1943 Highlights for Today 1.) Captain Haggard attempted a daring raid to enter the Japanese held port of Pagan. His fleet of 5 PT Boats were intercepted 4 times: once by a CM; once by a Submarine; once by 4 Sub Chasers; and once by 5 CLs. The night visibility was poor and none of the Japanese interceptions resulted in naval engagement. Neither the Japanese nor Captain Haggard's PT Boats suffered any hits. Captain Haggard's PT Boats were back in Port before dawn broke over Saipan. 2.) The Operation Stockpile Fleet moving at 11 knots is 2,560 miles northwest of Pearl Harbor and 640 miles east of Guam. The Japanese have finally detected the Allied Fleet. Allied CAP and LRCAP destroyed several Jakes. 3.) Allied Thunderbolts made a smoking debut in Burma destroying 6 Tojos and 6 Helens. 2 additional Helens were destroyed by Allied Flak. The Allies lost 2 Thunderbolts. 4.) The Allies believed and correctly so as it turned-out, that Japanese ground forces southwest of Toungoo (hex 56,51) and near Chiang Mai (hex 57,52) were seriously disrupted, possibly fatigued, and critically low on supply. Accordingly, even though the Japanese had the benefit of being in the jungle, the allies attacked both hexes. The Japanese won both battles. However, the Allies view the battles as strategic victories considering that the Japanese are so severely beat-up now that they will be unable to launch an offensive in an attempt to free the 55,000 Japanese troops completely trapped at Pegu. Synopsis of Combat Events for Today 1.) Japanese bombed the 20th Indian Division near Toungoo (hex 56,51). 3 Tojos and 2 Helens were destroyed. No Allied losses. 2.) Japanese bombed the U. S. 41st and Americal Infantry Divisions near Chiang Mai (hex 57,52). 3 Tojos and 6 Helens were destroyed. The Allies lost two Thunderbolts. 3.) Japanese deliberately attacked near Kweiyang (hex 76,50). The Japanese suffered minimal casualties, inflicted substantial casualties on the Chinese, and forced the 4th and 14th Chinese Corps' to retreat toward Chungking. 4.) Allies deliberately attacked near Toungoo (hex 56, 51). The Japanese suffered 4,608 casualties. The Allies suffered 6,228 casualties. 5.) Allies deliberately attacked near Chiang Mai (hex 57,52). August 27, 1943 Highlight for Today The Operation Stockpile Fleet moving at 11 knots is 400 miles due east of Rota and 2,760 miles northwest of Pearl Harbor. Synopsis of Combat Events for Today 1.) Operation Stockpile's lead Task Force consisting solely of Fletcher Destroyers hit SS I-32 15 times near Saipan (hex 112,95) causing heavy damage. 2.) 3 Japanese Anns attacked the Stockpile Fleet near Saipan (hex 112,95). 2 Anns were destroyed. No Allied losses. 3.) Japanese bombed Chungking. The Fire Chief resigned. 4.) Japanese bombed near Toungoo (hex 56,51). 4 Tojos and 4 Helens were destroyed. The Allies lost two Thunderbolts. August 28, 1943 Highlights for Today 1.) El Lobo has successfully moved all his infantry across the river from the jungle southwest of Toungoo (hex 56,51). As the attached Combat Report illustrates, 30 units remain southwest of Toungoo, the 1st Tank Regiment which has zero Assault Value, the Guards Tank Division which has under 120 Assault value, and the remaining 28 units are engineer, artillery, and anti-aircraft units. Depending upon supply, the Allies may attack these 30 units on August 29, 1943. 2.) Operation Stockpile has arrived at the Marianas Islands. The Haggard Group did an excellent job clearing Japanese minefields. All transports made it unscathed to their respective destinations of Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Guam. Allied Carrier TFs, Surface Combat TFs, and Replenishment TFs remain on station one hex (hex 108,95) due east of Rota. Allied Hellcats and Wildcats provide CAP over each of the Allied occupied Marianas Islands and over the Carriers, and LRCAP at a range of 2. For CAP and LRCAP, each have aircraft elevations set at 31,000, 17,000, and 10,000 feet. The transports have already commenced unloading, thereby exceeding the Allied target date to commence unloading at the Marianas Islands by three days. Synopsis of Combat Events for Today 1.) Near Saipan (hex 112,94), DD Bailey escorting transports to Saipan hits SS-I-30 7 times causing heavy damage. 2.) Near Pagan (hex 110,89), Japanese CM and two Destroyers sink PT Boat 109 and hit PT Boat 219 once. In a separate engagement in the same hex, Captain Haggard's PT Boats sink CM Itsukushima and CM Takashima. 3.) Near Victoria (hex 207,51), KV Quesnel escorting fuel transports hit SS I-3 7 times. 4.) Japanese bombed Chungking. One knows things are rough in Chungking when the Postal Inspector resigns as he did today. 5.) The Allies bombarded near Toungoo (hex 56,51).
